Rustic, warm cabin w/outdoor deck, woodland views - close to town!
Commune with the great outdoors from this Idyllwild vacation rental! With a lovely deck, woodland views, and plenty of rustic cabin-in-the-woods charm, this one-bedroom, one-bathroom home is perfect for a quiet getaway with a loved one or a few friends!
Located on scenic Strawberry Creek in the pristine San Jacinto Mountain wilderness area, this home offers plenty of rejuvenating peace and quiet. It’s also within a half-mile hike over the creek to Idyllwild’s quaint town center, in which you'll find a grocery store, cafes, and eclectic shops.
With wood accents, log beam ceilings, a stone hearth, and forest-themed decor, this home exudes plenty of cabin character. While this home is definitely for more adventurous travelers (there are a few bugs and spiders here and there), you need not go without modern conveniences while you’re here - despite its remote woodland location, it does have a compact but functional kitchenette, a television, and a microwave. Please note there is currently no Internet access at this home.
A cozy space, the living area offers seating on a comfy couch, a wood-burning fireplace in a stone hearth, and a small dining table with seating for two. Through a doorway, the home’s single bedroom is a quiet and peaceful space containing a queen bed, nightstands with lamps, and beautiful views out of French doors and picture windows. There's also a futon, so up to four guests will sleep here and up to 2 dogs.
Perhaps the best part of this home is its spacious outdoor deck with seating and great views of the creek that meanders by and through the woods. Dine al fresco and enjoy views of the undisturbed flora and fauna.
Local activities include hiking the Mt. San Jacinto Summit Trail, which begins 10 miles north, learning about the area’s natural history at the Idyllwild Nature Center a mile and a half north, and watching a concert, a recent Hollywood release, or a stand-up comedy show at the Rustic Theater in the Idyllwild town center. You could also take guided mountain biking trip with a group at The Hub Cyclery to explore the mountain canyons, forested terrain, and other beautiful outdoor areas around Idyllwild.

Fabulous vintage cabin with bubbling stream off the porch. Gigantic lovely fireplace is enthralling. A wonderful getaway weekend retreat.

This cabin was great! And the creek behind it is beautiful. The only things to note are that the bedroom is significantly colder than the living area even with the heater all the way up. You can feel the draft from the door and windows. So just make sure to bring fuzzy socks and a beanie I slept in that and was ok. Also there are lots of spider webs all around the stove but it’s a cabin so it happens. Beside that everything else was great.

This cabin was super charming! The location is awesome and feels fairly private, the neighbors were so kind and brought me firewood! The cabin is very very cold and drafty if you're doing a winter stay, but otherwise I loved it!

We were looking for a nice quiet weekend away from heat in our area. Booked because the write up said "the location of this home combines the solitude you'd hope for in a forest cabin with good proximity to Idyllwild's town center. Got there just after noon and there was a loud, obnoxious concert next door. Opened cabin and went inside and still crazy loud! What to do? Called the number used to book cabin. Held for 5 minutes. Maybe wrong number? Found the area in the app where it said "Have a problem, contact owner". Called that number - same as Vacasa. Held for another 11 minutes. No answer. Got tired of holding and left cabin. Came back a couple times and concert still raging on. Could not use cabin and had to book another room in town. Finally got a hold of Vacasa on Monday. Requested refund due to noise and tried to get it resolved, but they never answered phone calls. They refused; said owner said concert would be over early evening. Still not over by 5:00. Our intent was not to go into town, but had no choice. Will never use Vacasa again.
Hi Linda, thank you for your feedback. We're sorry you were disappointed with your stay, and we apologize for the inconvenience of a wildfire benefit concert being held near our cabin. We hope to have another chance to impress you.

A perfectly quintessential cabin in the woods. Conveniently located yet private enough to feel like you’re really getting away. The proximity of the running stream was heavenly. Cooking amenities were a bit challenging, but the market is close by.

While the unit is cute and quaint, there was not ample heating. The thermostat never went above 50 degrees during a very cold winter stay. Looking at previous reviews, this is an ongoing problem, along with the fuze box being tripped regularly by the space heaters. Management refunded us but we had to head to another location to complete our trip.
We would like to sincerely apologize for the issues this guest encountered. The home's calendar is blocked until all issues are resolved. Thank you!

We wanted a family winter trip for Christmas and this house was so perfect for me, my wife and two teenage girls. We had the fireplace going while we watched movies with hot chocolate.
It got even better when we realized how close the town was. The town had everything we wanted, good food, shops and people. I would recommend this place to everyone. Our only issue was that the house was cold at night and the breakers would pop alot with all the heaters on. I recommend bringing extra blankets and you’ll be fine.

Location was perfect. The property and cabin very nice. Very very rustic!

Loved our time in the Twin Tree Cottage. Rustic, charming, comfortable. Perfect location for a quick walk to town.

One of my favorite things about this treasure of a cabin is the porch. Sitting in the rocking chairs as dusk with a glass of wine watching the birds and listening to their songs is so peaceful. I love how close it is to town, but still isolated enough to feel like you're miles away. This was our second stay at this cabin and it won't be our last...

We loved the cabin, clean and quiet. We did have a little problem with the little beetles in the house. Some called them bark beetles. But other than that all was good. Oh! Bring a hair dryer
We apologize if the bugs of mountain living were disturbing for our guest. We do our best to keep up with pest control, but the environment does contribute. We have scheduled another treatment. Thank you!

It was a great stay for the little weekend mini-get-away! You have everything within your reach and if you need to go to the liquor store or market, it’s so close! It’s only a 10-15 min walk! Comfy little cottage and cozy! The beds comfortable and the shower is great! The kitchen turns your cottage into a little extension of your home. Definitely coming back, after all, it was affordable and convenient 👍🏻😊

We enjoyed its location and the rustic atmosphere. A bit cold for winter weather . Must great in summertime.
The only complain was that the electric range in the kitchenette didn't work .
We found a breaker had been tripped. The range is working just fine now. Thank you!

We loved the cottage and the town. The cottage is tiny but very cute. If you are staying there on very cold nights, take warm clothes and an extra heater, and be prepared for the fuse to blow out a few times.
The Vacasa staff is very helpful.

The location is great, right on the creek. We loved waking to the sound of the creek each morning. The home is small and simple, nothing fancy. The bedroom can get cold, but a space heater is provided and the comforter is warm. They have made some improvements since last year, a new area rug , new futon cover and the place feels less drafty. We love this little getaway. We will be back next year.

Great location and it had what we needed for a 3 day weekend.
Francisco M.Nov 2017
the cabin was nice, the info on what was provided was not clear on our paperwork it stated only microwave and toaster oven, took unnecessary items ,
Lauren K.Nov 2017
We stayed here in late October for our anniversary. The cabin was very cute and cozy. There was one house directly behind the cabin but it still felt very private. We really enjoyed having the creek running right by the bedroom window and the patio. It was very clean and welcoming.

Good location, reasonable condition for an older property.
Carmen M.Sep 2017
Wonderful cabin for getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. So very peaceful. The porch was a perfect place to watch the wildlife and reconnect with nature. I can't wait to book this perfect little cabin again!
Sandra R.Aug 2017
The cabin was great, but the best part of it was the beautiful trees surrounding it and the little creek the runs right outside
Emmeline S.Jul 2017
The cabin was well situated right next to Strawberry Creek and just a short walk to the center of town. It stayed cool inside under the shade of trees and a cool breeze from the windows. It gets pretty cold at night, even during the summer. There were extra quilts in one of the dressers, but we didn't find them until we were ready to check out. We walked about a mile to the trailhead of the Ernie Maxwell Scenic Trail. The cabin was a good basecamp for our family's weekend getaway.

If the owners and housekeeping staff implement our recommendations, a very positive and relaxing stay will become an outstanding one. If the per nite rate stays the same and you enjoy rustic, private comfort, the Twin Trees Cabin is the best and most idyllic stay in Idyllwild. We extended to six nights and left reluctantly!
Lindsay W.May 2017
We absolutely loved the Twin Tree Cottage and hope to go back to it soon! It's rustic, beautiful and affordable and exactly what my husband and I needed to get away and relax! All of the restaurants we went to in the area were delicious and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Idyllwild is truly and special place and the Twin Tree Cottage was a huge part of it! Thank you!

Rustic cabin, beautiful setting, great location, walk across the creek in to town.
Jessica G.May 2017
I am so happy that I chose this cabin. It had easy access, close to town center, shopping, and food. Friendly people. A very calming and serene location that makes you feel transported far awaycity life. The beauty of nature, the birds, squirrels, make it all the perfect place to be! Not a single bug found indoors. I highly suggest it if you are looking to get away. Suitable for singles, couples and families!
Erik W.Feb 2017
Location is awesome. You open the bedroom windows and the creek is right there. The sound is soothing and just an overall great experience. Little cottage that is perfect for a couple. Really enjoyed our time

My little family decided to take a last minute vacation and Idyllwild was a location that was recommended to us. We also had a budget to adhere to so we came across this little cabin in our search and truly wanted something adventurous. We arrived and it was dark but the directions on the site were perfect and we found it! When we walked in it was super cold so we put on the heaters and started a fire in the awesome fireplace and I made dinner, there is plenty of pans, plates and utensils. It stayed rather cold all night but the queen bed was comfy with thick blankets and the two kiddos slept fine in the futon bed. The next day we walked around the area which is lovely with strawberry creek right next to the cabin and an awesome park up the big hill, all walking distance and the kids loved the park! We were out and about for many hours and when we got back to the cabin it was nice and warm from leaving the heaters on. Overall our two nights were very nice. It's a small cabin but has good amenities to cook simple meals but bring some extra blankets and clothing layers. It's definitely rustic but a good experience for our family and we would go back again!
JODI A.Jan 2017
Great location with a park and town center just across the creek that flows right behind the house. Bring warm clothes if cold weather is forecast. We had the heaters and fire on non-stop and it was still nippy inside. Nice property with a porch and forest/yard.
Jeanine E.Sep 2016
The cabin was great, yes some spiders and a visit from two racoons. That's what made it so nice, we were really in the woods! Very cozy, tiny kitchen, well supplied, I was able to make a few simple meals. The porch/deck was great for hanging out in the late afternoon. We needed a short get away and this was perfect :) We will stay again and recommend .
Michael M.Jul 2016
Could upgrade some of the furniture and carpet.
Cindy M.Jul 2016
Every inch of this little cabin is exactly how it is pictured on Vacasa. It is a collision of romance and rustic. Every thing is charming about this place. I came here alone to get away for a few days from the city and it definitely did the trick. The only thing missing was my husband (and maybe my kids. maybe.)
Do not stay here if you don't like bugs. Just remember when you want to smash the 1 " spider on the curtain, that it eats the other 1" bugs. If it's hot, bring a fan. Be mindful of the size of the kitchen. It was perfect for coffee, morning eggs and hash browns, but I don't think I'd cook a lavish meal here.
While it is conveniently close to town, it also means you hear all the sounds from town. It backs to a very lush park, but people do stroll through it, dogs roaming around as well. I'll say the biggest complaint I had, and something to keep in mind for your stay, is that they are doing construction in town just around the corner. So, every time the machinery drove, it beeped. BEEPED ALL MORNING. AND DAY. Perhaps they won't be working. Part of my desire to come here was to hole myself up in a rustic cabin, not to sightsee everywhere. So, in retrospect, I would have preferred a cabin farther away from construction.
Other than that, it was amazing. I would stay here again. It was worth every penny.
Ryan M.May 2016
This place is a beautiful place right on a creek. If your looking to go in the winter or mid spring time I'll inform you to bring an extra couple of quilts due to the wall heater doesn't heat up the place. For the 3 nights my fiancé and I were there we spent $250 in firewood to keep us warm at night. Other than that the place was clean, stocked kitchen, stocked toiletries, extra towels, hot and cold water worked perfect, stove has no problems. Close to idllywild, and if you wanna get onto a lake, lake Henry is only 20 mins away. Reserve a boat if you wanna get onto the water.

Quaint little cabin in the woods! Close to town& beautiful surroundings!
Michael O.Apr 2016
Love it here
Eddie B.Apr 2016
This sweet little cabin is perfect for a romantic vacation! The mattress is fine, though you might want to bring your own pillows.
PS1: If you do come in the winter, bring some electric heaters and buy some firewood (not supplied). Those may be optional on colder months outside winter, but still worth having as a backup.
PS2: The bathroom light is a twist on-off to turn on.
Cassandra G.Mar 2016
It's a great place for a couple to stay for the weekend. There's a nice relaxing creek outside your window and a giant fireplace to keep you warm at night
Casey S.Feb 2016
Great experience. Quiet, peaceful, clean, all necessary amenities included. Definitely recommend for a rustic, relaxing getaway.

This little cabin is absolutely adorable! It sits about 10 feet from the creek. It also is walking distance to town. If you go in the snow, there is a perfect sledding hill just across the creek. It was quite chilly inside, even with 2 space heaters and fireplace. The kitchenette was nice. Definitely bring all food supplies (salt, oil, etc). There were all cooking supplies available (pots, cups, utensils) I will most definitely rent this cabin again.
Paul M.Jan 2016
Very disappointed. We've been to Idyllwild in the winter before so we know how the winter is but this wasn't much fun. Poor insulation and draughty doors meant the fireplace couldn't keep the place anywhere close to comfortable. We had to sleep with an extra comforter we brought from home, plus PJ's and thermal underwear. Summer might be better but this place is too expensive for what it is and there are too many other choices around to warrant a second booking.
Thank you for your review. The Property Manager will check for ways to make heating more efficient in the home. We hope you enjoyed the snow!
