Stayed for a couple of days in December '18. The cabin itself is pretty big for what we paid. 2 smaller bedrooms on the 1st floor and a larger master bedroom on the 2nd floor We loved that the cabin had huge window in the front and back to take in the scenery. The deck that wrapped around the entire structure was also pretty cool. The inside had a warm "lived-in" feeling. The huge fireplace was a bonus as it got pretty cold at night. Hint: During the winter months get the heater started early as it took some time to heat up the entire cabin. The kitchen had everything we needed. Lots of reading material and board games to keep you occupied. The only complaint I had was the amount of stairs we had to take to get from the parking area to the 2nd level so lugging the wife's luggage plus cooler, plus everything else was a bit of a workout but definitely not enough of a complaint to drop below a 5 star rating in my opinion. Would definitely stay again.
We very much enjoyed our stay. Beautiful deck. Pretty high up from town, but only minutes away.
Loved the location and ambiance of this cabin! It was 3 of us girlfriend's and 2 doggies and loved the fires and quiet area. Would love to stay here again but the stairs were pretty killer for us ladies, so be prepared to shlep everything up the stairs!
Such a great cabin right by one of the popular trailheads! Felt at home from the second we walked in!
La casa tiene una cocina muy espaciosa integrada en la sala, nueva y bonita, también una hermosa terraza con vistas estupendas.
Easy access to trails like Ernie Maxwell and Devils Slide,we enjoyed hiking high in the clouds with our dog and then exhausted napped on the sofa next to the log fire, bliss,
This is a very nice property located on the edge of the developed area of Idyllwild so there is very little traffic. Also very near hiking trails in the area.
The upstairs living room has great views of the mountains as you are 20 feet up into the trees.
Easily accommodates groups of 6 or more.
Master has only a queen bed and the toilet is very tight next to the shower. Oh and watch out of the post in the middle of the master and the raised floor in the bathroom on the middle of the night.
We took our adult children & grandson (toddler) to the cabin. We really like the furnishings & found it comfortable/cozy. GREAT view of the mountain & peaceful. Had not been to Idyllwild before, we all liked the town & cafes/stores and hiking nearby. Th fresh air was amazing. My husband & I took the upstairs master, which was nice overall - comfortable bed etc. Only real negative was the master bathroom set up - the toilet is just over a dividing wall (that doesn't reach up to the ceiling). A note for those modest folks. The BBQ didn't have propane but not a huge deal. We'd go back but I might just take the downstairs next time.
Location is great but cabine smells like a campfire. The smoky smell is in the home. Also all the patio chairs were removed except for two. We had 6 adults in the home and we could not enjoy the patio which was a big part of our trip.
We are sorry to see there were some disappointments during this visit. The patio furniture was broken and had to be removed for safety reasons. The homeowners will not be replacing the set at this time due to the upcoming winter season. Both chimneys have been swept, the carpets have been cleaned, and a deep clean will be performed on the rest of the home by the end of the month. Thanks!
If sleep isn't that important to you, this is a great place to stay. Good for a couple up to probably 4 people. Near hiking trails and near town but tucked away from it all. Given altitude, unless you are very fit, town is not within walking distance but is a very short drive away. Some great restaurants to eat at, including lovely vegetarian options and stores that were accessible even until 10 pm.
Great location...beautiful cabin...some older appliances but they all work so not really a major issue...we would stay here again for sure!
Great deck to enjoy the afternoon after hiking and great location!
We just spend Spring Break at this cabin and it was fantastic. Close to town, but still very much in the woods, close to tons of hiking and adventuring. The cabin was wonderful. Loved the location and the amenities. We look forward to returning.
The cabin is spacious and able to accommodate a large family. The outdoor deck was a special place to enjoy the sun and watch the birds.
We truly enjoyed are stay and made good use of the games, barbecue and even the oven. The three bedrooms help if you have family, and we loved the deck and the views from the family room. Great place to stay.
This cabin was in an amazing location, walking distance to the entrance of Humber Park. The deck was wonderful and provided a great space to relax. The accommodations were rustic, the beds are very uncomfortable and there were some maintenance issues with the bathrooms (unusable shower doors and no hairdryers provided). The kitchen, while very dated, had everything you would need to cook a nice meal. The layout of the house was fine, but the stairs were very steep so use caution with small children. 5 stars for location layout, 3 stars for the condition of the cabin.
It’s great to hear that you were able to relax and enjoy this wonderful location during your stay! Our local operations manager was able to visit the home after your stay and has fixed the shower door. A hair dryer is not an amenity that is provided for this home, so you will want to be sure to pack on for your next stay. We look forward to having you back again!
Relax, get comfy and enjoy!
Not worth it, especially when the management doesn't care to help when things go terribly wrong.
This cabin was in a prime location! we were in walking distance of the most incredible trails and sledding! The treck to the front door was a challenge, especially in the snow. The stairs within the cabin are not for the weak, they are very steep. It was a cozy place to stay, and we enjoyed having our pets with us, although our older dog could not make it up the stairs and carrying her was not an option. Other than that, it was the best time!
10-12 trash bags were piled around the perimeter of the cabin when we arrived. We were told trash is picked up on Sundays. Sunday came and went with no trash pick-up. The pile grew with our bags by the end of the weekend. Absolutely disgusting!
When we arrived there was 2-3 inches of snow in the driveway. Additionally, the walkway to the cabin was covered in the same amount of snow making it extremely difficult to get our stuff in the cabin. We were only able to park the one 4wd automobile we had on the lot. We had to park the other 2 cars up the street as recommended by David, the local Vacasa Rep. The following morning we awoke to a voice coming from a police car saying that it was illegal to park there and we would be towed if we did not move them. We had to park two cars in town having to go back and move them as there were no long term parking spots. We were in the cabin over 24 hours before David was finally able to get the plow company to the cabin. Numerous emails and calls were made to both David's cell phone and the customer service line prior to getting a response and result. I was told that the parking area had been plowed twice. This was either a flat out lie or the plow company is taking their money and not doing the work! It is obvious that there had been zero plowing since the last snow fall 4-5 days prior. This made the first half of our stay stressful and simply not fun. We wasted too much time worrying about being towed and what we were going to have to do if we did not hear back by the end of the second night. We did not get to relax until 7:30pm our second night.
Horrible! The master bath had mold and hair. The downstairs bath had hair.
Neither had been cleaned or cleaned properly. There were no paper towels in the house. We had to buy some one of our trips into town to move the cars. Both toilets had copper rings at the water level. You are asked to start the dishwasher and a load of laundry on your way out. I attempted to do both however, there was no dishwasher soap or pods and there was no laundry detergent. The trash as indicated above was unacceptable. I understand that there was supposed to be trash pick-up but to have that many bags already around the cabin plus our bags having to sit on the floor because all cans were full was not sanitary.
A complete overhaul of the way you do business is needed. I read the reviews and saw that the issues we experienced happened to numerous people. Each time your response is that you were going to talk to the cleaning staff and there were issues with getting the plow company to the cabin. These were the excuses we received as well. Only when I threatened to dispute my credit card charges did I get an email back from David. I can see each of these issues happening once, maybe twice but not numerous times. You need to do something about this not just say you are going to do so. If you had addressed these issues as indicated in the previous reviews, we would not have had to deal with all of this and could have had a great time the entire trip. It is really bad business.
We have made this trip 8 years in a row. We have used Idyllwild Vacation Rentals the past 7 years. This year we procrastinated and did not book until closer to the date. As a result we had to go with Vacasa as they had the cabin size we needed during the weekend we needed. The other rental company did not have the space we needed, our fault!! I read the reviews but wanted to give Vacasa the benefit of the doubt hoping that the people commenting we new to vacationing in Idyllwild and were expecting more. This is not the case. This company simply does not live up to what it promises when reading their website.
My recommendation, contact Martha at Idyllwild Vacation Rentals. She and the company are wonderful!
We apologize for the inconveniences this guest experienced. Due to heavy snowfall during this guest's stay the driveway was covered shortly after having been plowed by a private contractor. Due to the nature of the area, services are widely unavailable after 5pm and have to wait until another day. We understand what a frustration this must have been. The mold has been removed and the bathroom has been thoroughly clean, and housekeeping removes the trash after every reservation. Thank you!
We have stayed in many cabins in idyllwild. This is now our favorite. The creek across the street is perfect for kids to roam . We definitely will stay again .
We were hoping to stay again during New Year's but it was booked! The only reason we didn't rebook this cabin. It is so cozy and we really enjoyed our stay there. If you want to relax this is the place to do so.
We loved our stay here... it slept 6 of us comfortably and we cooked great meals in the kitchen and used the grill. The deck was amazing and peaceful. We loved that we could walk right out the door to start our hikes, as the trail heads were a short walk away. Easy five minute drive to town. Lovely all around!
Great location, roomy and an amazing deck.
Enjoyed our stay. The fireplace and patio, and the view of the trees was the best part of the home.
Super convenient location if you are planning to hike or climb. Really nice living room with a great fireplace, nice big deck. The WiFi is not reliable however
We had a great time at the property, there was enough room for our group of 5. The wrap around porch is great for lounging and grilling out. It's very close - a short uphill hike - to Humber Park which has some great trails, and a short drive to the "downtown" area and other restaurants. The bathrooms were stocked with little hotel soaps which we appreciated, and the kitchen had all the basics to cook a meal. Would recommend to others looking for a place to stay in Idylllwild.
this is a great location in Fern Valley that is not too far from town and had great views of the peaks and trees. I loved staying here especially with how quiet it was. The house was perfect for 6 adults and we made good use of the patio.
When I arrived had to clean the windows and surfaces of a white residue. Also internet, cable were not working and the DVD player listed in the advertisement was missing. Called management company several times to fix and they never returned phone call. Management company claims to be open 24/7 - this is a complete lie, all I received were recordings from 10pm until 9:00am that they were busy working with other customers and to leave a message - really at 1:00am??? Error message on the TV from the cable made it evident it was shut off purposely and was not from a mechanical error. If modern amenities are important to your stay in a mountainous area, I do not recommend this property regardless of what the advertisement states. I have tried numerous times to discuss this with the property management and they have failed to respond over 3 weeks latter!
We are sorry to see there were some inconveniences with this stay. The cable and internet were down due to the company doing work on the lines. The white residue found was pollen; the pollen builds up in a matter of hours in this forest during the spring and summer. The DVD player has been temporarily removed as an amenity until it is replaced. Thanks!
Once you are on the living room floor the place is ideal. It is so incredibly peace. The kitchen is well equipped. Very nice top floor. Didn't go to bottom floor but a few times because of ththe crazy stairs
We enjoyed our stay very much. I would definitely go again.
The cabin was beautiful with a wrap around deck, great views of Suicide Rock but
the only way to get to the main level is a steep, narrow circular staircase. We have an english bulldog who could not walk up so had to carry her up and down every time she had to go out. Not recommended for small dogs or old dogs or those who are afraid of stairs. Also makes lugging suitcases and food, etc. to the main level a challenge. Other than that it was great. Close to hiking trails, private. Some car noise from people driving to Humber park.
Recommend a trip to Idyllwild. My family and I visit several times a year to enjoy the beautiful mountain views, peaceful surroundings, artistic village town. We never tire of it. It is a quick drive from Los Angeles. But a world apart. The log cabin provides all the creature comforts of home. We are always sad to leave.
This is a pretty cool house but if stairs are your enemy, be aware. And although you can sleep 8, the upstairs was a tad cramped. It was a little difficult for 8 adults to navigate throughout the house. Also, there's no door to separate the master bedroom and bathroom, just a wall. Kind of interesting. But other than that, the area is very cool, very quiet (other than the cars going up to Humber Park). The deck was awesome, especially in the mornings and late afternoons. Kitchen was well stocked (could have used more pans, there's tons of pots). Overall, the house did exactly what it was supposed to do..keep us comfortable and entertained.
Humber park is about a ten minute walk up the road. This was a very nice property that was more secluded than the others. The power went out for about 30 minutes on Saturday night so I would stock up on wood and bring a flashlight or two in case this happens to you. The property is so awesome, stocked with books and games for a really fun weekend
Nice place. It sleeps 8 but pretty small rooms and living area. There is a circular stairway that would be difficult for elderly or in our case an elderly dog. Far from town but close to Humber Park. It sleeps 8 so they packed the furniture in there so people could sleep and sit but really crowded.
Stayed Sun to Fri for kids spring break and absolutely loved this cabin. Very clean, and if you are ok with stairs outside and inside, also very comfortable. Well stocked kitchen, large stone fireplace, wraparound deck, great views, close to Humber park trail heads. Can't wait to return! While we have stayed at fancier cabins with respect to furnishings etc, we loved everything about this cabin and its apparent sensibilities. Note: cell phone coverage in that area is poor but not specific to this cabin. Very happy overall and look forward to returning.
If you are looking to be close to trails this place is perfectly located! I stayed with a group of 7 girls for a birthday weekend. We were able to walk to hiking trails, which was perfect! We didn't spend much time in town, but if we wanted to it was very close. The views in the main living space are gorgeous. Unfortunately we got rain most of the weekend so we weren't able to utilize the patio space, but the deck was one of the reasons we chose this place. We brought all of our own games, but they have plenty and I enjoyed browsing through all the really cool books! Plenty of extra blankets/towels/pillows. If you plan to bring a pet (we didn't but I did consider), then you should be aware that the stairs inside the place are spiral and a little bit steep/narrow. Would recommend.
Would stay here again if they cleaned the place before we came.
Great location. Very peaceful and close to hiking trail. The place needed to be stocked better with toilet paper and paper towels but all other necessary items were provided.
Absolutely true cabin experience. Will stay here again.
This is an excellent cabin for a somewhat large family. The deck is very inviting to relax while you enjoy the outdoor. The cabin is away from the village so it allows for you to enjoy your time without the noise and traffic of the village. Kitchen, dining room and living room are on the same floor which allows you to enjoy your time with your family either inside or outside on the deck.
We stayed here for a few days and we had a wonderful time! We came in the end of January and our kids played in the snow and went sledding down the slope near the house. The upper floor, where the living room, dining area, kitchen and one of the bedrooms and bathrooms are is light and airy feeling with big windows that look out to a beautiful view of pine trees and mountains and the deck wraps around the whole upper part of the house. There was a lovely park in town that had so many thoughtful and fun details, we were lucky to have found it, the kids really had a great time there. All in all, idyllwild and Tahquitz Rock Lodge was a beautiful, serene and relaxing place to unwind and enjoy family time.
Loved the cabin and the location was awesome.
Unfortunately, we did not have the opportunity to stay at the rental property. Upon arriving to Idyllwild, we drove by the rental and the property was not accessible. We contacted the office to advise them that the driveway and walkway leading to the front door were dangerously inaccessible/ snowed in. In we fell trying to gain access to the front door. We arrived on the mountain to find the property location at approximately 2:30 pm and found the issue. We immediately tried to report the issue to the office but had difficulty getting through to an agent. When we did get through to an agent, we we're advised that there would be somebody there to plow the snow. We waited until approximately 6:30 pm and there was no resolution. We had a 2 year old boy, a 4 year old girl and a woman with us and there is no way they would be able to gain access to the cabin much less carrying our luggage and food in.
Thank you for taking the time to share your review with us. We are very sorry that the heavy snowfall made access so difficult; unfortunately, we have no control over the snow plows. We put in requests in a timely manner and then the situation is out of our hands. We can understand how frustrating this experience must have been for you and hope to have another chance to impress you when the weather is better!
