Charming lakefront home w/ private beach and gorgeous views - dogs ok

Relax in rustic comfort on the shores of Lake Champlain, where this pet-friendly South Hero vacation rental offers a wrap-around deck, a private dock, and a serene private beach on Keeler Bay.

Both secluded and convenient, this two-bedroom lakefront home is beautifully situated one mile from the peaceful village of South Hero in the Lake Champlain Islands and less than 21 miles from bustling downtown Burlington.

Thoughtfully decorated and immaculately maintained, the Heron Ridge Retreat is an ideal summer destination for couples and families in search of rest, relaxation, and space to enjoy the Vermont outdoors.

The open living room is bright and comfortable, with rustic wood paneling and a wall of windows that face the lake. Enjoy cozy nights in while browsing the wireless Internet, lounging in front of the cable TV, or competing in family board game tournaments.

Whether you're scrambling eggs or searing steaks, the airy full kitchen features plenty of counter space for professionals and novices alike. A bar counter provides breakfast stools for two, while the adjacent dining area has ample space for six.

Step outside the glass doors to find a wrap-around deck with a gas grill and a retractable awning. On the sloping lawn below, there's a picnic table for summer barbecues, a shaded hammock for afternoon naps, and plenty of space for your dog to play fetch (for a small additional fee).

Hoping to spend time on the scenic shores of Lake Champlain? Soak in the sun on the private beach, launch your kayak from the private dock, or roast S'mores in the evenings using the stone fire ring. (Please note that there are no guarantees that the dock will be available to use, as the water level changes seasonally.)

The Heron Ridge Retreat can accommodate as many as six guests. The master bedroom features a full bed, the guest bedroom has two twin beds, and the living room offers a futon for additional sleeping space. There is also one full bathroom with a standalone shower.

And whether you're a hiker, a cyclist, a swimmer, or a sailor, the Lake Champlain Islands offer nearly 200 miles of scenic shoreline to explore. Rent a kayak or a rowboat at Grand Isle State Park five miles north, or plan an afternoon tasting at Vermont's first winery, the Snow Farm Vineyard, less than four miles south.

Looking to sample the bounty of local ingredients? Don't forget to make a dinner reservation at Hen of the Wood in Burlington only 21 miles away.

Treat your family to one of the most beloved landscapes in New England by booking this Lake Champlain Islands vacation rental today!

The location of this house was great. But that’s it. We were so disappointed with the shape of the house upon arrival, especially for $800 for two nights. The beach front was NOT pleasant. Littered with dead fish everywhere. Dock was in horrible shape. The deck of the house was covered in spider webs, not one or two but everywhere. Hadn’t been cleaned up in a long time. One of the couches was literally propped up on old dominoes pizza cardboard boxes. Photos are very deceiving, trust me. Very disappointed guests
Manager response:
We cleaned the fish from the beach, and the dock was pushed out further in to the water to account for lake level drop. We regularly remove webs from the deck, but it can be difficult to keep up with them. The cardboard under the couch is to prevent scratches. Thank you!

Good location, stores nearby, great fishing area, nice quiet cozy camp.

The size and location were perfect for us. Views were amazing and hammock got plenty of nap time!

Thank you for a relaxing weekend! Everything was wonderful!!

Our family had a wonderful time at this cozy lake cottage. The owners have made the house very welcoming and it was easy to relax and enjoy a long fall weekend. I appreciated the little details like toothbrush holder and plenty of hooks that many places seem to lack. The kitchen was very well equipped as was the entire house. There was just an overall feeling of generosity to the whole place. House was nice and clean and furnishings very comfortable - there weren't a million breakable things around so didn't have to watch the kids like hawks. They even put safety gates at the stairs of the deck in case you have very little ones (and safety plugs at some of the outlets - I used to bring my own when the kids were very small). Hope we'll have the chance to visit in the summer!!

It was like going to visit at grandmas house, when you were younger. It was warm and inviting. We will definitely be back.

Very quiet, beautiful lake view, easy drive to Burlington

Very pleasant waterfront cottage. Was clean and accurately described. Dock is a good place for fishing. The "beach" was not very appealing for swimming but there are other options in the area for swimming. We really enjoyed our stay and would certainly consider returning. The reservation process went very smooth. We really appreciated the opportunity to reserve this home for less than a week at a time. Our schedules didn't allow us to take a full week and this home allowed for this flexibility.

Clean and comfortable rental unit. Neighbors very close by. Great access to the lake and all it has to offer

Overall a great little spot. Mostly disappointed by the water front of the property. If water activities are not your thing, great spot! If you are looking to enjoy the water, this might not be the location for you.

We loved our stay here over July 4th weekend. The lakefront location is wonderful and the house is comfortably furnished with a well equipped kitchen. We will definitely be back!

Nice, clean, quiet and comfortable cabin on the water. Yard well kept and nice neighborhood. 20 minutes to Burlington so dinner out was convenient too.

This house was in a great spot in beautiful South Hero. The house is small, all one one level, but very clean and comfortable. The bathroom is very small, but no problem for just a few days. The kitchen has everything you would need (oh! but bring your own coffee grinder). The deck is big, with plenty of space to enjoy the sun and view! Keep in mind this is a small house, with pretty close living quarters. The only tiny disappointment was the fire pit on the "beach", The lake was very low so the beach was not very enticing and the fire pit was just a circle of rocks.

The house was clean and had everything we needed. Nice location, only 30 minute drive from Burlington. Not many dining choices close by besides the Blue Paddle ( which is excellent but pricey ) so we found ourselves eating mostly in Burlington. Our only complaint would be that the beach is a bit steep and rocky and the water was not very clear ( weeds and stuff ) so it may not be the best swimming spot. We were there in the fall so it was not an issue for us. Overall a really nice little place for the money. I would definitely recommend it.

The property was great, I really liked the natural light in the place as I have stayed at other places on the lake that were very dark inside. An added bonus while we were not on the main lake fishing we caught some nice largemouth and pike in the evening right on from the dock.

We had a very pleasant experience at Heron Ridge. The cabin was very clean and really quite spacious. Lots of towels, beach towels, everything you needed.
We thought Charles, our local contact, could not have been better.
We had to call for a minor matter and he was there within minutes and fixed it with a friendly and very polite attitude. Enjoyed the whole experience and highly recommend this rental for couples or families.

Loved our stay here. Have rented a number of lakeside spots from VRBO where we can bring our dogs. This is our favorite, so far. Beautiful spot on quiet dead-end road where dogs can walk safely. House is spotlessly clean and updated. Kitchens supplies aplenty. Perfect spot for biking, kayaking, walking, chilling out. Sheets and towels, soft, clean and plentiful. Coming back to this spot.

Wonderful, peaceful stay on the lake.

Well maintained property in a quiet neighborhood. Would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Great little spot to relax. Quiet dead end street, houses aren't too close together, and the deck overlooks a nice small cove. Great paddling right from the property back into the cover, lots of wildlife.
