Peaceful dog-friendly cabin with river views, WiFi, loft, and fireplace!

Rest yourself at this lovely cabin in a rural setting. Observe the rivers of the Rio Grande right next to the home - the serene sounds may inspire your next fishing outing! Enjoy the fireplace in the common area or listen to the birds on the deck. Younger guests will love camping out in the bunk room (which also can store ski gear and other equipment), and guests can pull out the futon for extra room. The private washer/dryer can handle everyone's laundry while you're taking on dinner in the full kitchen. Feel free to pop in a DVD after a long day of exploring. The family dog can also join in on your fun cabin adventure!

What's nearby:
This home's rural setting is a big part of its charm - there's only one other home on this street and so there is very little traffic! The Rio Grande river, with all its glorious fishing, is just beyond the back door. Fly fishing fans who want to go farther afield can find gear and location advice at Wolf Creek Anglers, just two-and-a-half miles away from the home. Overall the stay was great. Water heater was not working and front door know was/is extremely hard to open, has to be jiggled as you are opening. Water heater was fixed within hours of letting them know but was told door knob was not getting fixed so we had to go around. It also has a few mice that eat anything left out at night so don’t leave a box of crackers or chips on counter or table because they will chew right into it. The fishing is great in the river directly in front and I did catch my personal best size trout near by. Overall was a great place to stay even with those couple issues.

A great place to relax and enjoy the mountains! This place was warm and felt like home. Was perfect for a family vacation, with the ability for all to do what they desired (hiking, shopping in Creede, ATV riding, exploring etc...). And South fork is a terrific place for a "get a way".

We found the cabin very clean and well stocked as others have described. We very much enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return. The fenced in backyard was convenient for our dog and we loved being close to the river. We had great successs fly fishing for brown and rainbow trout. Hiking in the mountains was convenient and uncrowded. If you're into rock climbing, Penitnete Canyon is absolutely amazing! Overall great experience with this property, management and location.

Everyone was so nice and answered any questions we had!

The house had everything we needed. It was a little warm without AC, but after leaving the windows open over night, the temp inside was perfect. Fantastic location and close to a grocery store, souvenir shop, and outdoor rec rentals. Very short drive to Creede.

Very convenient for someone with a walker. I had everything on first level I needed & the kids & grandkids had plenty of room upstairs. The owner provided multiple fans for those hot days & multiple gates which really came in handy with the one year old. Our dogs were content with an enormous fenced yard. We had the best vacation & really hope we can return again. (We spent a lot of time outside though & it was mosquito season so be prepared.) We brought a hummingbird feeder & I enjoyed that immensely & I was thrilled to share that experience with my one year old grandson. We have stayed in Estes Park & twice in Pagosa but this was better than both. Personally I like the relaxing atmosphere much more.

This was our second time staying at the Cutthroat Lodge and, once again, we absolutely loved it! The cabin has plenty of room, is very cozy, beautifully decorated, comfortable furniture, fully stocked with kitchen necessities, towels, sheets, blankets, and pillows. Rebekah, the property manager, is just wonderful to work with, and she was always available throughout our stay to answer questions. The cabin sits on a private road so traffic is very minimal. My husband and I enjoyed taking walks along the river and just reconnecting with each other. This is a wonderful place to “recharge your batteries', meditate, clear your mind, and rid yourself of stress. The cabin overlooks the beautiful Rio Grande River. I enjoyed opening the window at night to take in the fresh mountain air and listen to the flowing river. We did not watch much TV, but there is Direct TV in the cabin along with a DVD player and video library. There is no Wi-Fi in the cabin, but that is okay as we really enjoy disconnecting from the workplace. Most of the restaurants and the library in town have Wi-Fi available if you really need to check your emails or social media. There are some great restaurants in town; our personal favorite was The Old Firehouse as they have some wonderful salads. We shopped at some great shops in town; The Cabin, Blue Eyed Bear Boutique, Mountain Lighthouse and Gallery, and Doc's Outdoor Sports. We explored the trails by renting a side-by side (UTV) from the Outdoor Depot, which is located just minutes from the cabin. The views on the trails were absolutely amazing. Our 2 large doggies enjoyed the large fenced in yard where they could run around and explore. Not only was the cabin great, but the area it is located in is so peaceful and serene. We spent a lot of time sitting on the back deck reading some great books and just taking in the beautiful scenery. This is such a great place to get away from it all. Thank you to our hosts and Rebekah for allowing us to stay at the beautiful Cutthroat Lodge. We hope to see you next year, if not sooner.

Our family of 9 spent a wonderful week spring break 2018 at Cutthroat Lodge. Check in was a breeze and the cabin was prepared and ready for us on arrival. The lodge is well stocked with clean linens and towels and the only thing the kitchen didn't have was a waffle iron - everything we needed to prepare meals for our crew was there (except the food, of course). Beds were comfy, plenty of closet space, and the hot water (I mean HOT) lasted through a full round of showers for 9 bodies. The well water tastes awesome and soap rinses easily from dishes and clothes. The fridge was large enough to hold a week's worth of food and there are enough coffee filters to last until the next millennium! The wood burning stove (a must for any visit to the mountains) was easy to work and there was an abundance of cut and split logs to burn. We kept the thermostat at 55 the entire week and it was pleasant in the lodge all day/night. You can open the screened windows in each sleeping area at night if you want cool mountain air. The Rio Grande is only a few yards from the front door and there is sufficient bank to fish from or you can wade in easily. The back yard is fenced in if you decide to bring your pets. There is a "mud room" off the kitchen with access to the front drive where a large dog can stay as well as where you can store your ski/boarding gear. There are a few good restaurants in town and the local grocery, the Rainbow mart, has everything from fresh veggies and meats, to staples, to snow chains and outdoor gear. Don't bring anything other than food - many previous guests have left cleaning supplies, the aforementioned coffee filters, and laundry soap - so wait until you see what you need then head to the Rainbow mart. The Wolf Creek ski area is about 20 miles from the lodge - much closer than accessing the ski area from Pagosa Springs. Cutthroat is a great value for large families or small groups. We're already planning our next stay at Cutthroat Lodge.

We caught some beautiful views of the mountains and skies from the front of the house! Kitchen was well stocked with spices and dining ware. Our kids had a fun time in the backyard stomping through snow and building a snowman. Since we went skiing, the wet room area was great for removing all our gear without messing up the rest of the house. It was a 30 mins drive to the Wolf Creek Ski Resort, which isn't terrible. Overall a great time was had by all. Rebekah was great to work with as well! Thank you for the hospitality!

My family and I had a lovely time at the cutthroat lodge. The location is pretty much just outside of south fork and was easy to find and very easy to access. You couldn't possibly get any closer to the river! We had everything we needed to cook and entertain. The fenced in yard was wonderful for my puppy who typically likes to roam. The neighbors around the area were super friendly. And Rebekah was kind, quick to respond, and wonderfully accommodating to all of my requests. Overall we had a great time and I look forward to returning to enjoy again!

Great location and perfect size for our family vacation. We enjoyed the layout of home with plenty of space for twelve. Its on a quiet road on the beautiful river and not far from Wolf Creek. We even saw some deer wondering around. Would definitely book this property again.

To help this property you need to have Wi-Fi , and Tv in the bed rooms, other than that no complaints. We enjoyed our stay.

Cutthroat Lodge is a wonderful place! We had a great stay and our pups were very content; especially having a mud room to have their meal time and water bowls in. The rooms are nicely appointed with furnishings and tons of bedding to choose from. The kitchen was also very nicely stocked with everything we needed. The games we found were awesome as well. The showers were "interesting" as they creak like crazy and the water kinda just dumps out, but they still did the job just fine and the hot water was amazing! The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is not for the cabin or management at's for the neighbor across the river. The two adjoining neighbors are absolutely wonderful! Barb and Vern are so sweet, kind and welcoming and they love doggies too. We just loved chatting with them and getting to know them. However; the man directly across the river (and just to the left) will watch you like a hawk while you're fishing the river and if you so much as have one toe across the center of the river he will yell at you to get off of his property...and he owns two parcels apparently so beware. We had no idea that someone could actually own the river itself. We've never come across that until this trip. We always thought it was just the banks of the river that were owned property, not the flowing water itself. Aside from Mr. Scrooge across the river, the trip was absolutely delightful and the home is wonderful! Large and small families alike will love Cutthroat Lodge! And a special thanks to Rebekah for answering calls/texts so quickly and friendly and for being so accommodating. :)

Beautiful cabin; wonderful stay! This cabin has lots of room, is very clean and nicely stocked with kitchen necessities, towels, sheets, blankets and pillows. Very cozy and comfortable; plenty of room for all! The back yard was large enough for our 2 large dogs to run around and play ball. The cabin is 5 minutes from town, and 10-20 minute drive to the mountain lakes and South Fork Rio Grande River. We had a great time fishing the river which is located directly across the road. If you like to float the river, there is a boat ramp into the river right when you first turn onto the private road. The property manager (Rebekah) was very punctual with responding to my emails. We had such an amazing time at the Cutthroat Lodge! Thank you.

The house is great!! It is comfortable and well stocked. It is just across the street from the river and at the end of the road, so it is quiet. The back yard is large and fenced. The manager is awesome, very responsive and kind.

Absolutely loved the place, it was very spacey and the river outside was awesome! Wolf Creek Ski Resort is also just about 30-32 minutes from South Forks, which was a plus. I would definitely book this place again.
Jim H. Feb 2017
We had a great time at the house, in between visits to Wolf Creek and soaking in the hot springs in Pagosa Springs. House was well stocked with the necessities to make our trip enjoyable, and is only 5-10 minutes from the stores in South Fork.
Marla D. Jan 2017
The house accommodated all our needs really well. There was everything that we needed to cook in the kitchen, as well as on the grill. The house was cozy the whole time and all 10 of us could shower each night after a day snowboarding with the water remaining hot the while time. Will definitely stay here next time if it's available.
Sarah J. Jan 2017
This cabin was awesome. I traveled with a few friends for some snowboarding at wolf creek. The cabins only a 20 minute drive from it. It's right on the river so we had a great view. It had everything we needed to cook. The management was very easy to get a hold of and even let me know on the day that I could head to the house a few hours early. Couldn't have asked for anything else!

We really enjoyed our Thanksgiving holiday at your cozy home. We spent an entire week here with two of our children and two of their friends, visiting the sites (mines in Creed), getting some hiking in (Creed) and enjoying the hot springs (Pagosa Hot Springs). We were hoping to get some skiing in (only about a 20 minute drive away), but the weather was not cooperative. The grocery store is only about 5 minutes away and had all the stuff necessary for a holiday meal. I loved the dual ovens, we were able to cook multiple dishes at ones time. Everything was supplied- hand soaps, paper towels, shampoo, towels, spices, cooking ware and utensils. There is a toaster, coffee maker and tea pot- all of which were used! The fridge and freezer offered plenty of room for leftovers. The upstairs bedrooms have their own thermostats, which is great if some people like to sleep in a cooler room than others. The comforters and sheets will keep you plenty warm, even in the cooler nights! Our youngest loved having the bunk beds to himself. If he was an early riser, he would have seen some gorgeous sunrises right outside his window. The fireplace was awesome, we used it every day! The backyard is fenced in, but our son's dog found a way out. Fortunately she stayed on the front porch until we got back. The river was flowing nicely and had some ice floating down, adding to the charm. We enjoyed daily walks with our dog along the river on the gravel road. Thank you so much for letting us use your home! We had a wonderful time! If you want to go to the chocolate festival in Creed on the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving, buy your tickets on-line in advance! They were sold out in less than 1 hour.
