If you're looking for a beach bungalow close to the beach, shops and restaurants in Encinitas, this is the place for you. While the house is nothing fancy and you will definitely hear car and train noise, being so close to Moonlight beach more than makes up for it's issues.
peter s. Jul 2019
Small, but completely functional unit with a private yard area and outdoor bbq. Walk to the beach. walk everywhere for that matter. Great coffee across the street. Dog friendly. We would definitely stay here again.

Walking distance to Encinitas restaurants. Walking distance to the beach. Loved the house looks exactly like the pictures. Back yard was well kept outdoor seating could be improved. No a/c is kinda rough during the day but would definitely stay here again overall a perfect little rental.

The place is just like the photos. When really enjoy our stay with our little daughter. Walking distance to moonlight beach. Spacious bedroom and comfortable bed. The sofa is not so comfortable to sleep. Heating works ok but it is really noisy, not all the time, but when the fire goes out it is really loud. The train horn sounds every time, also during the night. The noise is the reason I give 4 stars. Everything else 👍🏼

This cute little upstairs stop was perfect for my stay! The yard made it SO easy to stay here with a dog. Vacasa left a dog bowl and some dog bags, which was a thoughtful touch. I was concerned that the car shop next to us would be loud, but i didn't hear it and we stayed during the week, the shop is closed not he weekends. This cutie bungalow is labeled that because it is exactly that. Pro's: close to everything! 4 minute walk to the beach,2 minute walk to a coffee shop. Cons: no dishwasher or in unit laundry.

This rental would be perfect for anyone who wants to be out and about and in the middle of the action!

Loved the location and cute little house. Very beachy! Pleasantly surprised by outdoor space as well.

This was a great place with prime location! We have two young children and loved the space outside for the kids to run around. If you love Encinitas as much as we do, this place is perfect. Two blocks from the best beach in San Diego.. our opinion, good food, everything within walking distance. Thanks for a great vacation place to stay!

This house was perfect for my husband and four legged dog, Remington. The enclosed grassy, private yard for my dog and backyard BBQ's were perfect. The home was extremely clean and had a nice welcome bag full of Vacasa goodies that we much appreciated. We loved the private parking space and short walking distance to downtown Encinitas. The coffee place directly across the street from Lofty coffee, yum ! I would say the only surprising issue (did not hold us down from preparing meals in the home) is the home does not have an oven. Rest assured, it has a stove-top, microwave, full BBQ grill, refrigerator but it was a small work around if you are expecting to cook frequently. Otherwise, we definitely will be back and thank Vacasa for sharing such a treat with us!

Had a wonderful time staying here for 4 nights during the week. Worked out great with our dogs and the fenced yard. Very cozy apartment with all the amenities you could need. I will definitely be coming back to lovey Encinitas!

Loved this little bungalow in a great location! A bit noisy but nothing a white noise machine doesn’t take care of!! Perfect fenced yard for the pup and lounging!

My wife and I have stayed in vacation rentals in the Cardiff/Encinitas area probably 10 times in the last 8 years. This is by far the worst experience we've ever had. As soon as we unlocked the door we noticed that the couch and seat cushions were completely disgusting. Covered in stains and still dirty from the last guests. Given this, there was nowhere to sit in the entire unit - basically we could either sit in the main area on a beach towel on the floor, or lay in bed. So the place was basically unusable in the sense of sitting down and relaxing, which was the main thing we planned to do after road-tripping 20 hours to get there.
I was calling Vacasa's customer service team within 10 minutes of opening the door... and remained on hold for over half an hour. In this time, I had also reached out to the property manager who took a couple hours to get back to us. The best luck I had was reaching out to Vacasa through direct message on twitter - which was useless because they can't make any decisions or help without getting in touch with the local property manager. The entire first 2 days of our stay we sat on the floor, and on the 2nd day we were asked to leave the place for 90 minutes so the cushions could be cleaned... after 90 minutes I texted the PM to see if we could head back and he said the cleaners hadn't even arrived yet. So, we ended up being kicked out of our place for over 4 hours on the 2nd day.
I asked Vacasa to understand our situation - having spent a lot of money on this place and to feel like we couldn't even sit down for the first 2 days, not to mention not being able to be there for a good chunk of time. I asked them to refund us for 2 days of the stay... which seemed reasonable to me as my wife and I were sitting on a beach towel. They refused, and said the most they were willing to do was refund our cleaning fee... a very small percentage of what the 2 days actually cost us. It was insulting on every level. I spoke with multiple members of their team who absolutely hid behind stock customer service scripts. No one ever once tried to understand from human to human how this wasn't enough or just. It felt like they knew they had my money, and they weren't letting go of it... even if they knew deep down it wasn't fair.
All in all - it was the exact opposite of how you'd want a company like this to handle a tough situation. I'd recommend you look elsewhere for your stay. We've found great, affordable places in Cardiff and Solana Beach in the past and I'm sure you can too. Just don't stay here.
Manager response:
We are sorry to see the couch was the cause of such discontent. It is a lighter colored couch that does allow some spots to be easily seen. We apologize the cleaners were late to their appointment due to rush hour traffic. We did purchase this guest a gift card for a restaurant due to the inconvenience, and they were welcome to stay in the home while the cleaners worked but opted not to. Since everything else in the home was fine, and the couch was in good condition (with just a few spots on it that could have been covered with the beach towel the guests chose to use on the floor instead), we did choose to only refund the cleaning fee. Thank you.

Easy check in, Clean, spacious, great location, convenient access to downtown and freeway!
John R. Jun 2018
Great location. House was exactly as advertised.
Stephanie A. Jun 2018
Location is ideal as it is very close to the beach, restaurants and an excellent coffee shop! The place is clean and decorated with a pleasant beach theme. Yet is was casual and comfortable enough to come back from the beach in wet/sandy suits. It has all the amenities covered and we appreciated fresh towels and use of beach towels. Check in and check out was very easy and straight forward. We did not have any need to contact the host. Overall happy with our stay!

Super cute beach house, great backyard and deck, where we spent most of our time!! The BBQ was great to have as the weather was amazing our whole trip. One really rainy day, so the cable and Netflix came in handy along with the board games!!! Not ultra luxury, but that's part of lucuedia's charm! Great place for the price. And decorated really cute. Would recommend and rent again.

Space was ample and bright and outdoor area was lovely! Proximity to row of eateries was great! Caretaker was immediately responsive.

As an educator I always look forward to Spring Break to recharge my batteries. This casita fit the bill, great bed, very comfortable. Hot shower with outstanding water pressure. Nice galley kitchen and eating area. Living area is large enough with Cox cable TV. Sofa needs to be upgraded. 2.5 blocks from Moonlight Beach and downtown Encinitas. Lofty Coffee and Duff's is just across the street. Urbn pizza big thumbs up, Philz Coffee has a tasty breakfast selection. Encinitas Cafe was excellent for a comfort food breakfast. The Taco Stand has some of the tastiest tacos we have ever eaten. Most of all the ocean and beach is right there for your enjoyment.
Lisa L. Nov 2017
We chose this apartment for our week-long stay because of the location, but were very pleased to find a charming, airy apartment, very tastefully painted and furnished. It is across the street from our favorite breakfast spot in Encinitas, Lofty Coffee, is at the north end of the local shopping and restaurant district, and is a four block walk through a nice neighborhood to the best beach in the area.

Also, it is only a 10-15 minute walk from the Coaster train station, so it is possible to get there from the San Diego airport without a car. There was virtually no noise from the businesses across the alley that front on Highway 101, and the traffic noise from the highway was negligible. The train whistles are very loud, and you'll hear them late into the evening, but we did not mind them.

We were surprised to find no oven in the kitchen (gas stove top and microwave are there), so be forewarned that you cannot do any baking or cooking that requires an oven.

The building itself is older, but has been well renovated and excellently maintained. The high ceilings make it feel very open, and the fact that is not attached to the main house makes it very private. We very much appreciated the dedicated parking space.

Finally, the communications about this rental before and during our stay were excellent. They provided all the information we needed without being intrusive. Perfect!
Patricia M. Nov 2017
Please note that my comments are nitpicking. I loved this place and would definitely stay again. Just wish it wasn't so close to rail road tracks.
Patsy P. Nov 2017
over all nice place.
Lynn W. Oct 2017
The place was just as we expected. The kids slept on the pullout and did just fine. I was a little nervous about the noise but for a few days, it was a non-issue. The train does sound like it is coming through the house when the whistle blows, but we were all able to go right back to sleep. Being able to walk to Moonlight Beach and fantastic restaurants was so nice as well. Our arrival day was a bit warm and when we arrived they has the fans going for us which as an extra nice touch. Perfect little yard for our dog as well.
Ron H. Sep 2017
We stayed for 2.5 wks and it was a fantastic vacation. Very relaxing at a great location relative to the beach, Encinitas and transportation. Very comfortable for 2. Occasionally a bit of daytime noise from the shops behind the property but not really an issue. We are looking forward to staying again next year!
Terrance M W. Aug 2017
Cozy, dog friendly condo within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, and Moonlight beach. It has everything you need for an enjoyable stay in Encinitas. It might not be as fancy as some people like, but the location and price more than make up for that. Just expect to hear some traffic and train noise.
Rita F. Jul 2017
A great place to stay in Encinitas, especially if you travel with your dogs. The back yard is fenced and secure. A nice grass area that is well maintained. We could leave the front door open and let the dogs go in and out as they pleased. The stairs are easy to negotiate. There is a good breeze, and lots of windows to open. Those with the fans kept it cool enough for us.
The kitchen was large enough for us, and we cooked several meals while there, and all the necessary pots, pans, etc. were there for our use.
The pull out sofa bed was comfortable, as was the queen size bed in the other bedroom.
Nice short walk to Moonlight beach, and close enough to walk to downtown Encinitas for meals and shopping. For grocery shopping, it is a very quick car trip to Sprouts, or Lucky Acres, or Smart and Final.

This was great location for beach vacation with 6 & 8 year olds. Short walk to beach and short walk to park with playground and nature trail. Condo was sunny and clean. Jane clean. Will stay again.
John H. Apr 2017
We were very happy with this unit and all that it contained. If you are weak on your feet or elderly, we recommend that you take a bath mat to put in the bathtub when having a shower.
Bernadette R. Mar 2017
We stayed for two nights and were happy with the location of the property. The space was great for two for a girls weekend.
Sulin B. Feb 2017
A very comfortable cozy stay. Overall the noise level was fine - with the exception of a neighborhood dog. A few funky details to be improved in the bathroom, but the overall decor was very nice and most essential kitchenware and dishes/glasses were provided. The location, being walking distance to the beach as well as the central town areas, was great. For the price we appreciated our stay.
Tara B. Feb 2017
Enjoyed the stay here, very nicely done. Everything you need is on hand.
Walking distance to all you need in Encinitas including new organic market Lazy Acres.
Great Farmers Market in nearby Leucadia on Sunday mornings. Smaller Farmers Market in Encinitas on Wednesday evenings.
Beach is few blocks away.
Great neighbors!

This apartment is located above a garage in a tucked away ally, but don't let that turn you away. Off street parking is very convenient and safe. VERY CLEAN. Property is well kept and apartment was spotless clean. Towels and linens are provided. Kitchen is well stocked. There is an auto shop across the ally, but it was not unsightly or noisy at all. Ally is clean and well maintained. Train runs along the 101 just a 1/4 block up the street, it was noticeable, but not a bother at all. Any residence in this area would be near the tracks, but staying in an apartment instead of a hotel is worth it. The hotels in the area are not great quality and this apartment cost less than the average hotel in the area. We travel to Encinitas regularly and sometimes stay with friends. When we bring our teenagers, though, I will for sure rent this apartment instead. It was quiet, private, and provides off street parking (which is very hard to find in this area). Perfect for the price. Location is fantastic. Would definitely rent again and suggest to friends and family.
Guy W. Nov 2016
Enjoyed the location and property is as described.
Carlton B. Nov 2016
Perfect for our purpose- visiting daughter & family &. this quaint property gave us escape each evening to rest up nice area to walk our dog Stella each morning & close to Moonlight Beach. Enjoyed watching early am surfers from view point.
Margaret S. Oct 2016
Be prepared for a night with the train waking you up. The place was hot, not cleaned properly, and dusty. The location was great and the kitchen was well furnished Encinitas is lovely and the beach is gorgeous. If you stay here I recommend bring ear plugs or you will not sleep well!
Manager response:
We will follow-up with housekeeping regarding the cleanliness; we apologize that this was an issue during this guest's stay.
Carmen L. Aug 2016
Ok there is two businesses by this house. One behind and one beside. If you close the bedroom window and use the box fan you can't here anything in the mornings . The bed is extremely comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed for basic cooking and grilling out, the backyard was very well maintained and great yard for grilling and relaxing in. The porch is quaint . The house is literally 5 minutes from beach and downtown Encinitas . I would definitely stay here again.
We were not at the house very often during the day to busy enjoying the town and beach :)
Sarah M. Aug 2016
The property was just like the photos made it appear. It was very clean and homey and the yard was great - lots of green grass for kids or pets to play in. Just a 10 minute walk to the beach too. We would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.
Tyler B. Aug 2016
My wife and I both had a great experience at this property. It was perfectly located for both beach days and evenings out. Encinitas had a ton of great restaurants and bars to make for a great week without ever needing a car. I highly recommend using this property for your next vacation rental.
Jennifer B. Jul 2016
Great location, but a lot smaller than it looks. Two adults should be maximum as long as you don't have to stay indoors for long.
Jennifer S. Jul 2016
Location! Location! Location! This rental property is in a great area, walking distance to the beach, cafes, shops etc. u will not find a closer location for this price! There are a few minor things that could use fixing in the bathroom but it was worth the minor annoyances to have this spot so close to the heart of the city. The mechanic shop is across the alley but u would never even know it. The only noise we heard were the guys happily singing one afternoon! Life is good in Encinitas????
Josh R. Jul 2016
Overall a great stay. The location is awesome for going to the beach and also grabbing a bite to eat. Downtown Encinitas is a 5 minute walk. The place itself had all the necessary requirements and was clean when we arrived. Thanks again. We will be back in the future.
Michael N. Jun 2016
Exactly as described on the website. Very clean. Everything you need for a stay at the beach. Nice yard area for grilling etc. Its less than half a mile walk to the water down quiet residential streets. Moonlight beach is fantastic. Very family friendly.

The property sits behind an auto body place (very nice employees) but the noise wasn't too bad. The electricians shop next door isn't an issue as they don't do work on site. The trains ARE noisy, but I think this would be an issue anywhere in Encinitas. The property has a nice residential feel since most of the windows face the surrounding neighborhoods. No AC, but if you open the windows and run the fans its fine.

Couch was big enough for our kids to sleep on in the living room, but might not be very comfortable for adults. Queen bed was very comfortable.
Mason G. Jun 2016
The beach house was a great place, I feel that it was a bit underrated, I read the comments/reviews about the heat and the mechanic shop next to the beach house. Personally I didn't even notice them, granted we were out most of the time, but once we came home we didn't really hear any noise or anything. I would recommend this place to any of my friends/family. I would not however bring anymore than 3 to 4 people max as it will be a bit tight to fit everyone.
Barrie T. May 2016
Walk everywhere in Encinitas. Relax...No need to drive the car...
Moonlight beach, coffee shops, casual lunch & many dinner options are only steps away!!
Robb C. May 2016
Only drawback was that Amtrak is right across 101 and the trains blow their horn every time they come by. I think it would drive me crazy if I lived there all the time but for a few days it was just part of the charm. Might bother you if you're a light sleeper, though.
JIm E. Apr 2016
The cable connecton went out after 3 days and remained out the rest of the week.

Also, sleeping 4 is possible but is a stretch. Very crowded at 4.
Manager response:
We are very sorry that the cable went out during this guest's stay. The problem has been identified and addressed so that it is now working.
Vivian S. Apr 2016
The home has everything we needed to enjoy Encinitas for a couple of days. It's above a garage that looks like it's used for storage so no one lives downstairs. It is beside an auto body shop & electrician which if you sleep with the bedroom window open you will get an early rise from noise. But just shut the window and crawl back into the very comfortable bed! No a/c so set the fans when you exit for the beach, we did this and it worked great and got nice and chilly at night. Beach is a quick walk down the street, great coffee shop right across the street. We had an issue with wifi and tv but after a call it was fixed & on a Sunday! Very lovely stay!
