Dog-friendly cottage w/panoramic ocean views in a quiet area
Treat a loved one or a few best friends to a coastal getaway they won’t soon forget at the Sea Mist Cottage. A dog-friendly Yachats vacation rental, this adorable abode boasts ocean views, nearby recreation, and plenty of quaint coastal charm in an uncrowded location.
Just steps away from one of the best stretches of the Central Oregon Coast’s sandy shoreline, this home is perfectly situated for a weekend of beach-themed adventures or exploring in nearby Yachats (about eight miles north). Hike on the Giant Spruce Trail, wade through tide pools, and snap gorgeous pictures at Cape Perpetua Scenic Area, then head into town to browse local art at Wave Gallery or Earthworks Gallery, and pick up fresh produce at the Yachats Farmers’ Market.
Enter into the home to find a warm and inviting space with wood beam ceilings, maritime decor, and comfortable seating. You’ll certainly admire the care that has gone into creating a vibrant coastal ambiance. Tin backsplashes, wooden paddles, and wood-paneled walls appoint the space with a vibrant coastal character, which will both relax and invigorate all travelers.
Settle into the leather chair or upholstered couch and let the picture windows’ panoramic seaside views melt away any lingering stress. If you want a close-up of the coast, peer through the telescope and watch distant thundering waves or keep an eye out for whales.
You’ve worked hard all week, so kick up your feet and relax. Pick out a movie from the DVD library and invite your group to gather in the living area for an afternoon of movie-watching thanks to the DVD player and the flatscreen TV - though there is no cable, you can use the WiFi to stream shows and movies. You could also take out a fun board game to play with your group, or crack open a favorite beverage and enjoy it while breathing in fresh air on the outdoor deck.
When it comes time to eat, head into the well-stocked kitchen to whip up fantastic meals with locally sourced ingredients. Make Dungeness crab cakes, sauté wild mushrooms, or serve up any other fare using modern appliances, plenty of cookware, and ample countertops. Eat together at the two-seat dining table where you'll also enjoy sweeping coastline views while you dine. In the mood for a barbecue? Use the gas grill and savor a meal outdoors if the weather permits.
Afterwards, take a leisurely stroll around the quaint neighborhood, or walk down to the beach to hunt for razor clams deposited by the surf. With a small daily fee, your dogs could even come, so leash them up and bring them along on your Yachats adventures.
Come home after a full day of sightseeing in town and on the coast, ready for restful sleep. Two guests are accommodated on a queen bed in the only bedroom, and a sofabed adds space for two more, making this home comfortable for up to four guests. A peaceful and quiet space, the bedroom offers simple furnishings and lovely picture window views that will rejuvenate all who stay here.
Wake up after a great night’s sleep, ready for new adventures. Start the day with a trip to any of the area’s state parks, including Cape Perpetua Scenic Area, Yachats State Park, and Smelt Sands State Park, which are all within a short drive. Adventure options include scenic trail hikes through old-growth coastal forest, horseback riding, and even boogie boarding in the sea! Seal Point Trail is 200 yards south of the house, and Stonefield Beach (known as one of the best places for agate hunting) is nearby.
In the mood for a fun day trip? Sightsee in Newport, which lies 30 miles north, or head a couple miles south to explore the iconic Heceta Head Lighthouse. Kids will love a trip to Newport's Oregon Coast Aquarium to view barking sea lions, playful penguins, and other coastal creatures, while older tastes are well rewarded with a stop at The Wine Place for a glass of fine Oregon pinot.
Yachats itself might seem small, but there's plenty to do right here in town! Check out the shops for souvenirs then chat with some locals at Green Salmon Cafe. Grab a bite to eat at one of the restaurants, or try your hand at fishing or crabbing to nearby catch your own meal. The coastline surrounding Yachats is some of the state's finest for beachcombing and tide pool hunting, and if you're lucky you might see a migrating whale, so don't be afraid to get out and explore the beach - you never know what adventures you'll find!
Ready for a well deserved coastal escape from stressful city living? Book the Sea Mist Cottage and start planning a memorable getaway to Oregon’s fantastic Central Coast!

Wow, beautiful view, and everything we needed in a small space. Loved the little electric 'wood' stove.
It was a nice location and close to town but they should list all rules on the site prior to reserving. It would be nice to have a working dvd player when its advertised and the wifi which runs the netflix was sketchy and kept resetting. A binder with instructions for everything in the house like the heater and electric fireplace and such would be nice. Not enough plates for the 3 of us so we had to buy paper plates. Also maybe upgrage the fridge as it was barely bug enough for 4 days of food. As i said it was in a nice location but we wont be staying at this particular ca in again.
We appreciate the guests feedback. Local staff will make sure that the dvd player is in perfect working condition and will also be contacting the home owner to provide more plates for guests. The refrigerator will also be looked at and discussed with the owner.
We liked the privacy of the place. Just be aware that cell phones don’t work out there. Water was rusty so you have to use bottled water until they get it fixed. But the place was comfy and in a beautiful area.
So close to all of the Cape Perpetua trails and Yachats.
Loved this little cottage right on Hwy 101. You can see the ocean while eating breakfast. Clean, convenient to Yachats and state parks. Love that I could bring my dog. Would definitely stay here again.
loved the cottage and the nature areas around it
The Sea Mist Cottage was clean, warm and inviting. Everything we needed was there. We especially enjoyed being able to use the grill for cooking. We did not access the beach from the cottage, but we could have. It was especially relaxing to play a board game in the evening while enjoying the gorgeous ocean view! We plan to be back!
Everything was as advertised. Pictures are accurate. Key was left where they told me and the code worked fine. Everything thing was there that was needed, just like home. Just need to bring groceries. It was very quiet - elk came in the yard one day, easy to get to a lot of things from the house.
This cottage is very well equipped and provides a comfortable stay. However, when we were there, the weather was not very nice as it was very cold and very windy. No one's fault just made our visit less pleasant but the cottage itself was very nice!
The coastline below Yachats is magnificent and beautiful. With a mixture of crashing surf on the rocks or great stretches of sandy beaches to explore, the location of Sea Mist Cottage is ideal. We and our dogs enjoyed our stay very much and plan to return in the future.
We rented this cabin for a long weekend get-away. Very comfortable and nice. Had all the things we could ask for. We brought a few groceries and everything else was provided. Had to walk across the hwy to get to the beach area, but it was not bad at all. Had a great time looking for shells and agates when the tide was out.
Quiet and easy to find, right off hwy 101. Would come back again and enjoy the coast!
The house was just right. Wished the walk to the beach was a little easier, since it was so muddy but it was nice. Get location as so much to see both south and north. Telescope was nice and having a washer/dryer was good.
Good location with everything you need inside. Plenty of parking for larger groups or day time visitors.
What a great little place to get away. This cottage is a sweet example of the simple life. Headed home relaxed and happy...we'll be back!
only thing I could improve is the highway marker where this is unit is located should be in the description. Highway marker 172 is in front of the property and would have made it much easier to find since our gps cheerfully announced we had arrive 5 miles earlier than it should have. It sure is dark at night :-)
Very nice cottage out of town and away from the hustle and bustle. very nice views and we enjoyed just lounging around the house some days and not doing much. Yachats has plenty of good restaurants to visit and Florence is a neat town to go see also. Great little downtown area in Florence. the coast is great to visit and we got to see some great waves come in and crash on the rocks.
Great cozy home to view storms. Not a house for gourmet cooks. No ABC, CBS, OR NBC. Only Netflex, and Prime. Bring your DVDs. Peaceful place to listen to the ocean. Nice washer and dryer. This is a great home for the price. We didnt realize the electric stove was remote and called for help. Help arrived in minutes. We loved the lawn area for our dog.
Lovely cottage perfect for a couple. We had a great time, wonderful location with lots of amazing things to see right around the corner.
We really recommend trying out this comfy cottage be the sea. We enjoyed our stay. Thanks to a great owner and team.
Need instructions on how to use Netflix and electric stove in living room
Make sure you have groceries with you...long way back to a store...
We had a great visit to the Oregon Coast and the Sea Mist Cottage was such a nice quiet place to come home to in the evening. We used the BBQ one night and rested so well with the Sea air blowing in the bedroom window. The beaches are quiet, beautiful, and close. One night we were tired and we watched an amazing sunset right from the living room couch. Everything we needed for a great stay.
I love the cottage itself. It is very cozy and the location is outstanding. My friend and I spent 4 nights here and explored the lovely Oregon coast. The people we met were friendly and helpful. However, Vacasa does not inform potential tenants that there is no phone service. They do not provide instructions on how to use the Netflix app on the TV. They do not provide a code to use the landline phone.
The owner has installed a signal booster and the property manager has provided instructions for accessing Netflix. Thank you!
Very comfortable and cozy cottage, great location. Walking beach close by.
Very relaxing. Would definitely recommend.
Very cozy cottage with a beautiful view of the ocean. Perfect size for a single or a romantic getaway for two, away from the hustle and bustle. Lots of beaches to explore and state and NW forest park trails to trek. Thank you for sharing your home. I hope to be able to return someday.
We had a wonderful week at Sea Mist Cottage celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. We wanted a quiet peaceful vacation where we could enjoy each other's company and take in the beautiful sites and scenery of the Oregon Coast. Usually when we are coming to an end of a vacation we look forward to getting home and sleeping in our own bed. Our week on the Oregon Coast and our lodging at Sea Mist Cottage was so restful and enjoyable, we could have stayed much longer. We definitely did not want to leave.
Very nice location with a very short drive to the beach. Was really impressed with the place at an incredibly affordable price. Don't miss Yachats Brewery or City Lights Cinema in Florence if you are looking for some rainy day entertainment!
The sea mist cottage is now our favorite vacation spot. It was such a comfy and inviting home. The binoculars and telescope were a great touch with having a beach view. The home was also very clean and we enjoyed our goodies that Vacasa had left us. Thank you!
Had a great weekend at the cottage after our other travel plans fell through - ended up being even better! Lovely area, beach is very close, and despite a few nearby houses, had a very quite, private stay.
Dog friendly was great. Awesome area for outdoor people
Sea Mist Cottage was picturesque, clean, warm, and cozy. Couldn't ask for more.
See you another year, God willing
Perfectly cozy cabin with easy access to beaches, loads of state parks, the towns of Yachats and Florrence. It was the best place to hunker down during a weekend of storms, read a book, watch a movie and watch the dark clouds roll in over the sea. Thank you!
We loved our stay at this location. It was just my boyfriend and I and our dog, and we felt like the place was roomy, clean and cozy. It was a great place to get stuck in a big storm. The power ended up going out for a few hrs because of the storm. Luckily we found a little lantern and a puzzle to keep us entertained. It was just out of town, so was nice and quiet. I would stay there again. :)
Great place. Cozy. Quiet. Close to town. Beautiful views
I would not recommend staying at this property. This property has very nice views and is located in a good location however this property has cleaning and maintenance issues that need to be addressed. There are a lot of other nice vacation properties that are also in this area that are probably in better condition. I would recommend that if this is a special vacation or if you are enjoying time with the family I would recommend staying at a different location. It will eliminate stress from your vacation.
We are sorry to see that this guest was disappointed with their accommodations; deep cleans and maintenance inspections will be taking place during the slower winter season.
We loved the Sea Mist cottage. Cozy and great location for exploring. Highly recommend!

The cabin was great. We had a few days of intense storms. The cabin although noisy with the rain was tight and warm. We felt safe and comfortable during the worst of the winds. A note about beach access. The trail to the beach is washed out and the wooden stairs are rotted out. Overall the cabin was well equipped, the view is great, it's quiet and close to lots of fun stuff.
I'm reluctant to write a review. I don't want competition when I rent it again next year...smiles.
This was a fun little house. The parking was nice due to the fact there is hardly no where to park on the 101.
Loved the relaxing atmosphere and surroundings, including a wonderful sunset!
Cozy and romantic, perfect for a couple and their small dog.
I rented this little house for a weekend getaway with my girlfriends. All 3 of us fell in love with it! There is a clear view of the ocean from the front window and binoculars and a telescope too! The house had everything we needed! I will definitely be returning!!
The Sea Mist cottage was very cute. We loved using the kitchen to make meals and sitting together to watch the sunset in the evenings. The theme is not overwhelming and makes the cottage feel homey and fun. We loved how close it was to Newport, because there are lots of fun things to do there. And there were so many places to stop and go down to the beach between the cottage and town. It's not a walk to the beach, but it's an easy drive and a beautiful view.
This little cottage is amazing. So perfectly located, so quiet and the view out the front room window is AWESOME ! The cottage is very clean and in order, clean towels, bedding, etc.
This is our second time using Vacasa Rentals, not only are their prices reasonable, but they don't disappoint. Accommodations are always perfect, view is always good, well stocked kitchen, we enjoyed using the BBQ grill, clean and easy to check in and out. We will use Vacasa again. Especially Seamist Cottage, a perfect retreat for a couple, small family or single person.
I had a wonderful stay at this property. I greatly enjoyed having a large space all to my own. The Oregon Coast is one of my favorite places, so you can't go wrong with a visit!
First, the view out the front window is pretty gorgeous!! Very well stock kitchen, the best I have experience. Nice BBQ. Very quiet and comfortable little place. We enjoyed it very much. No TV service, but with the wifi you are able to connect to Netflix and such if you so desire. Very clean and everything worked flawlessly.
Great spot for going out to explore up and down the Oregon Coast.
