Dog-friendly cottage with on-site tasting rooms, in the heart of wine country!
Combine the convenience of on-site tasting rooms with a healthy dose of romance when you stay at this one-bedroom Fredericksburg suite, a cozy dog-friendly getaway with an unbeatable location in the heart of Texas wine country.
Wonderfully situated along the Highway 290 Wine Trail, this one-bedroom rental is part of the Historic Rocky Cottage, a five-suite complex of traditional Hill Country stone cabins. These suites can be rented individually by couples or solo travelers, or all together by groups of up to 12 people.
No matter the size of your group, this serene property is only six miles from restaurants, a seasonal farmers market, and dozens of historic sites in downtown Fredericksburg. You'll also be within walking distance of at least four vineyards, including the Fiesta Winery, which provides live music in the beautiful shared courtyard almost every Saturday.
The exterior of Cabernet Sauvignon is reminiscent of a rustic farm cabin, but the interior has been lovingly updated with stylish tin ceilings, elegant furnishings, and plenty of modern details. Relax in one of the cushioned rockers as you watch the flatscreen cable TV.
You'll have a coffee maker and a microwave in this comfortable space, but you'd be wise to leave the cooking to the professionals at nearby Vaudeville, where you'll enjoy delicious local ingredients and reinvented bistro favorites.
Cabernet Sauvignon also opens onto the beautiful shared courtyard, where guests can relax in the shade of mature trees, set up a picnic by the bubbling waterfall feature, or enjoy a glass of wine and a live music performance on Saturday afternoons.
This one-bedroom, one-bathroom suite will accommodate as many as two guests during your Texas getaway. You'll sleep soundly on the four-poster king-size bed, while the full bathroom offers a walk-in stall shower. For a small nightly fee, you can even bring along a faithful dog.
With wonderful shopping and four tasting rooms on the grounds of this property, it can be easy to forget about the Texas Hill Country beauty that surrounds you. You'll be within a short walk of Alexander Vineyards, Fiesta Winery, Rancho Ponte Vineyard, and Six Shooter Cellars, while the fantastic wines of 4.0 Cellars and Grape Creek Vineyards are just four miles away.
Hikers and rock climbers should also pay a visit to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area 23 miles north - it's one of the most peaceful and scenic spots in the region.
Experience the wonderful wines, vineyards, and scenery that make the Texas Hill Country so special - book your Fredericksburg getaway today!

We came to Stonewall for the peaches, and visit Fredericksburg. Rocky Hill was the perfect location as it was close to Stonewall and only six miles from Fredericksburg. We loved that it was in the country yet close to town. It was quiet and comfortable and we really enjoyed our stay.
Great place, nice location, quiet at night
Literally steps from porches full of people enjoying wine and sunshine
This cottage was perfect!! We will definitely be returning. Love love that you can walk to wine tastings and go right back to your room. No driving required for a lovely day 💕
The only thing missing in this little cabin was a table, otherwise it's perfect!
Loved the size, colors, design, and location! What would be nice? Two more functional chairs with a small eating table, more cabinet space in the bathroom! Thank you for such a nice stay!
Great accommodations! So quaint
The two chairs in the room , the bottom on the chairs were bad. Did not want to sit on them. But love the room, we would stay again. Also need a bench at the foot of the bed.
The best getaway spot ever!! Cleanliness of the room, peaceful atmosphere, wonderful nightly entertainment provided. Will definitely come again. Relatives already booking future reservations due to all the bragging we did!!
It was a last minute anniversary getaway and I was utterly surprised. The cottage was super adorable and very cozy. The dessert waiting for us and the cool air conditioner room was awesome. We truly enjoyed our stay and will recommend to family and friends.
Spacious, cool, and comfortable. We really enjoyed the fresh coffee cake in the morning!
We stayed in the Cabernet room at Historic Rocky Hill. Great room with great amenities and a comfy bed. Location was close to Fredericksburg and local wineries.
Awesome location. Great atmosphere!
Rustic looks work very well out here a several miles from downtown. Having only five rooms means no crowds and less chance for noisy neighbors. I chose to stay here for a second time in eight months. Has large and comfortable rooms.
If you are looking for a place to stay, please consider this location. You won't regret it.
Nice place to stay in Fredericksburg that’s not on the Main Street. Cute and quaint room
Enjoyed our stay. A comfortable place to rest after a day of outdoor adventure or exploring wineries in the Hill Country. Great location for enjoying all that Fredericksburg and the surrounding area have to offer Would recommend, and stay again!
The spot is nice an quiet. Amenities are minimal. Kitchenette consists of coffee pot and tiny dorm refrigerator. Our family stayed in two of the other two cabins they all had broken chairs. Continental breakfast is packages of cold cereal and grocery store coffee cake. No table in any cabin
Convenient and quiet location.
Loved the place and the location! Great trip will go again!
Great Location and quite as well.
The cottage was well equipped, roomy and comfortable. Great to sit on the porch Saturday and enjoy the music from Fiesta Winery. We loved that they allowed pets and our doggy got to enjoy the trip with us! Short 5 minute drive into town.
We really enjoyed our stay. The unit was very clean, and the bed was soooooo comfortable, but firm, which is how we like it. There were a few concerns though. The lack of any shelving or counter space in the bathroom makes it extremenly difficult to use the sink for teeth brushing, hair preparation, makeup, shaving, etc...pretty much everything you use a sink for! The pictures of the unit shows a simple shelf was once in place here, and the holes for that shelf are still there, but no shelf! We had to set up all our toiletries in the "kitchen" area and that wasn't so great. Another issue was the air conditioning. In order to make the front of the unit a comfortable temperature, we had to keep the back of the unit where the air conditioner is absolutely freezing. I'm not sure what can be done about this but it was definitely uncomfortable. Lastly, and there's probably nothing that can be done about this other than be warned, but every last word and "activity noise/vocalness" from the next door unit was heard perfectly in our unit as if they were actually in our unit. Pretty uncomfortable when you have to face these strangers the next day and make small talk. We knew WAY too much about them. All that said, we would stay there again! We actually really loved it, and these three things, as negatives ve as they were, were still not bad enough to keep us away. The good was just that good!
We apologize for any inconveniences this guest experienced. Maintenance has installed a shelf in the bathroom and inspected the air conditioner so it is running as efficiently as possible. When these units were built there was extra insulation installed to help absorb noise between units, but if guests are worried about this we can help them book a unit that does not share walls. Thanks!
Other than the cobwebs and gekko in the bathroom, the room was clean and accommodating. Bed was comfy. Location is ideal; the room is surrounded by 4 wineries/cellars all within walking distance.
A great place to stay and visit very quiet and relaxing. The property is beautiful.
This location is 7 miles from downtown Fredericksburg - call it exactly between many of the wineries and the town. We thought it was PERFECT. room was larger than expected and everthing was in great shape. will be back...
We enjoyed our stay. The setting was very nice and peaceful.
Near most wineries and could sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine. Surrounded by several wineries, Also Fiesta winery usually had music in the weekend evenings, it was nice to enjoy it outside our cabin as well.
We enjoyed that Rocky Hill was located around 4 wineries and was also on the 290 Shuttle route. It made going to the wineries that much easier.
Great location along 290. Right between downtown and some of our favorite wineries. A wonderful coffee cake was there at our arrival. Fridge was well stocked with milk, cream, OJ and water. Perfect spot outside to meet with others in the evening. Will return! Thanks for a great stay.
The accommodations did not justify the price paid.
On a positive note, the pastry was delicious .
We are sorry to read about this disappointment. We do appreciate any specific, constructive criticisms our guests want to offer to help us improve our services.
Need a few things added for convenience but overall everything was good.
Overall a great stay. Walls to thin so we can hear everything the neighbors were saying. Other than that, awesome access to tasting rooms, the highway(290), town, and wineries.
Absolutely loved this B&B with private a room and bath! The wineries are literally outside your door but be prepared to put the cork in it at 6 pm. It all shuts down too early!! I did enjoy shopping at the Boutique!
Wonderful place to stay that is pet friendly! Right in the middle of three wineries you can walk to with a great courtyard in the middle. The courtyard has a large fire pit which was useful on cooler nights.
This place is really cute and clean. The room was very cozy and they provided breakfast items like a delicious cinnamon bun cake as well as coffee, cereal, milk, water and orange juice. The surrounding tasting rooms look really cute and nostalgic. The main reason we stayed at the property was to enjoy the tasting rooms without having to drive around. Unfortunately, they were all closed when we arrived. It was the day before Thanksgiving but I wish we could have been notified so that we could have made a reservation closer to town. The only downside is the noise from the cars on Hwy 290, other than that I would definitely stay here again and hope to take advantage of the tasting rooms.
Great anniversary get a way!
The Privacy was much needed and the room was AMAZING!!
Special, quiet, quaint, comfy and overall fabulous place to stay!
This spot was the perfect quiet weekend getaway.
Had a great time was a little leary about the three tasting rooms there but they are closed by six and it was very peaceful enjoyed the time we spent there already planning on going back
Pastry was so so good, the only thing that would have made the stay more incredible is to have another pastry .
great location, lots of room, convenient to everything
We enjoyed our stay in the Cabernet Sauvignon room at Historic Rocky Hill. The locations couldn't have been more perfect, and the reservation and check-in process was smooth and well-communicated. No detail was overlooked. It was nice having the three wineries right outside our front door if we didn't feel like going far, and the live music on Saturday was a nice touch. It was quiet in the evenings and quite enjoyable overall.
Dislikes: wish there was a dead bolt on room door to feel safer.
Hated having to drive back into town to return key into a drop box. Wish they would put one on the property.
During the day when the winery is open..there is no parking for people paying to stay there. Really wish there were a few reserved spots for paying guests.
Likes: fridge stocked with a few waters, milk, creamer and OJ. Fresh Pastry was delicious. Room was very clean.
We love Fredericksburg and have been there before. Our experience was good as far as a really nice room. Location was pretty bad as this b & b sits on a busy, noisy highway. Web site gives you the correct address but, we were under the impression that it was at least away from the highway. Also, it was a bare minimum continental breakfast including no fruit. We will research better next time we go to Fredericksburg as it is a really nice area to visit in Texas.
We are sorry to see that the location was not to your liking and hope that you loved the charm of the home.
The cottage was amazing! Perfectly appointed with no kitchen, but complimentary pastry, coffee, small fridge with milk, orange juice, half and half and water bottles. Will stay there again. COMPLAINTS: "Home office" knew nothing about the property and didn't return my call when I called with questions. Website says "Air Conditioning: N/A" This is Texas and that doesn't work. Since no one called me back and I could not get access to someone in Fredericksburg who knew anything about the property, we just showed up and saw that all was fine. Website talked all about kitchens and there wasn't one in this property. We were okay with that but it would have been nice to know that before hand. NO signs on 290 pointing us to property. Very little light and struggled to find the property. How about a SIGN and a LIGHT? The cottage was terrific once we found it. The address listed on the email did not indicate which DIRECTION on 290 to go so we drove an HOUR trying to find the property. Local personnel and cottage were incredible and we will stay there again, but lesson learned.
We are sorry to see that your experience was not as smooth as we would have wished; we will be sure to use your feedback to make improvements.
Loved our time at your B&B it was a perfect weekend spent browsing the shops, eating great food and tasting wine;)
The room was lovely, well appointed and the pastry was delicious.
