Historic craftsman circa 1923 - walk to wineries & downtown, antique decor!
This beautifully updated craftsman is rich in history, and an ideal setting for your next romantic retreat to Texas wine country. Built in 1923, and sleeping up to four guests, this lovely vacation getaway was once home to one of Fredericksburg's early mayors, Mittendorf. A light, unhosted breakfast is included in your stay.
This two-bedroom vacation rental is a short walk to Main Street, where guests can explore their choice of casual or fine dining restaurants, local artisan shops, museums, and art galleries. History buffs and wine connoisseurs will enjoy this prime location. Avid cyclists will have access to miles and miles of gorgeous bike-friendly paths through Texas Hill Country, some starting just outside your door.
This listing includes the main house only, though there's also a detached cottage, Travis Cottage, available to rent. If you're traveling with a group, consider renting the entire Travis Street property, which includes both the Travis House and Travis Cottage.
Updated exquisitely with modern conveniences, this inviting home is tastefully decorated with charming period antiques and furnishings. The living room is open and bright, with sunny walls and crown molding throughout. Leather couches face the wood-burning fireplace, with a flatscreen TV mounted on the wall, creating a nice setting for romantic movie nights.
The impressive antique furnishings and built-ins do not disappoint as you make your way into the dining room. Spend evenings dining by candlelight with your sweetheart. Enjoy a sunny Sunday brunch with friends as natural light flows from the windows into this lovely space.
The full kitchen brings together old world charm with the convenience of modern appliances. Spend romantic evenings creating homemade dinners together with produce foraged at the local farmers market (less than a mile away). A stainless steel dishwasher is included to make clean up easy.
This craftsman-style home in the heart of Fredericksburg comes with two master suites. The first romantic bedroom features lots of windows, a wrought-iron king bed, seating area for two, and is stylishly decorated.
The second bedroom is equally appealing, and also comes with a king bed and seating for two. Both king beds are fitted with high-end linens, feather pillows, and duvets.
Two full bathrooms will give two traveling couples plenty of privacy and comfort. The first full bathroom has a shower, and the second bathroom has a separate shower and soaking tub. Marilyn Monroe is endearingly featured above the bathtub, giving a classic tribute to bygone days.
Every detail of this charming home is thoughtful and contributes to a sentimental experience for four lucky adults. WiFi is available to all guests, as well as cable TV.
While staying at this vacation rental, you'll only be four short blocks from the heart of Main Street, which features art galleries, a variety of restaurants and bistros, antique shops, and daily wine tastings. Your vacation schedule will be full with historic museums, golf courses, peach picking at local farms, a weekly farmers market, and miles upon miles of gorgeous scenery throughout Texas Hill Country - perfect for cycling, motorbiking, and joy riding.

Travis House is an adorable house! We really enjoyed our stay and wish we had been able to stay longer than one night!
Rain on the tin roof. High ceilings. Nice bed/linens. Comfortable home.
The House was incredible and the hospitality was second to none. There was an apple Strudel waiting for us on the dining table . A very nice touch . Also the beds were wonderful and the linens were so plush .
This was the most adorable, charming home! Such a warm welcome with coffee cake waiting for breakfast. We loved staying here and are planning our next stay!
Love it. Bed was so comfy. Enjoyed time on the porch. Only complaint is that we weren't there long enough!
Great accommodations. Nice, Quaint and close to the main street including the wineries. Beds were so comfortable can't wait for my next visit. Highly recommend this location to everyone.
We were very pleased with Travis House. Loved the beds and the linens. House was clean and well furnished. Coffee cake was an unexpected treat!
My mom and I stayed at Travis House for 3 nights. It is a charming historic home. We were welcomed with oj, milk and bottled water in the refrigerator. There was cereal and a coffee cake for breakfast. The house was very clean. When I had trouble getting the television to work, Stacy was quick to stop by to help me. Mom and I enjoyed our wine on the pretty front porch every evening. Great place that I would recommend.
The beds were very comfortable and everything we needed was included in this sweet house. Loved the antique furniture and the easy access to Main Street. Yummy breakfast cake, orange juice, milk, cereal, coffee and tree were also provided. Will definitely stay here again.
Thoroughly enjoyed spending a girls weekend at this gem. Super comfortable beds and a well equipped kitchen. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Loved the house and the location. Would defiantly visit again.
Perfect house for a girls trip! The beds are so comfortable and allowed for good sleep after a day of wine tasting and yummy food! We would definitely stay here again!
This is an old house on a busy street. There is a lot of street noise you can here while trying to sleep. Also, there are NO blinds on the bedroom windows so you can also see all the headlights of the passing cars while in bed. Of note, the second bathroom is on the complete opposite side of the house from the bedroom. Otherwise, the beds were super comfy and the house is well kept and clean.
We loved the convenient location, the roominess, the beds were great, and just the quaintness of this house and the furnishings. It was like living in another era with modern conveniences.
Everything at the Travis house was enjoyable. Beds were very comfortable. Outside areas were comfortable and relaxing. Overall a great place to stay!!
We walked to everything in downtown...short drive out to the vineyards and Enchanted Rock
Perfect location, easy walk to most places
This house is so cute and the beds are so comfortable!
We will definitely be returning to Fredericksburg and will definitely be renting this location. The 1920s home is fixed up perfectly and was a great setting for a wine filled weekend.
The house was very cute and charming, close to the heart of Fredericksburg. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable. If you are like me and coffee is something your truly enjoy in the morning, I highly recommend bringing your own k-cups for the Keurig.
Very nice house, clean, beautiful furnishings. Two very nice outside areas in which to sit and visit.
The Travis Street House is an adorable house located within walking distance to town. The furnishings are very nice and comfortable. The beds and linens are exceptional, however, the small thin curtains allow too much light into the bedrooms at night. In the morning we loved sitting on the front porch with the provided coffee and breakfast cake. Even though I had a little problem sleeping, I would still recommend this home to anyone visiting Fredericksburg.
Great location and great way to familiarize overseas guests with the best of Texan hospitality, history and culture!
Great property. Convenient to downtown and within walking distance to festival. Hope to stay there next year.
The Travis street house is exactly as described! We were able to walk a few blocks to Main Street as well as the bus pickup for 290 wine tours. House was spotless! We really enjoyed the provided continental breakfast. We will be back!
Beautifully decorated, clean home. Beds are wonderful.
Excellent location, close to Main Street. House was clean & well furnished.
Great front porch for watching the world go by!
We stayed here for a girl's weekend and loved it. The house is beautifully decorated and is totally functional. There were comfortable beds, usable furniture, the front porch is a great gathering place and it had two big bathrooms. The kitchen is large and they even stocked it for us with milk, oj, coffee, and cereal. We were ready to move it. It's very conveniently located and there was a large driveway to park our vehicles.
Stay was great! We enjoyed the house, location and town!
We were extremely happy with our stay at Travis house. Would happily stay there again.
Celebrated my husband and my birthday, the house is amazing, location is perfect.
Stayed 2 nights, needed a few more days to see more of Fredericksburg. Will be booking again when we can stay longer. PERFECT GETAWAY!!!! 💞💞💞
We had a great girl's weekend getaway at the Travis House. It is conveniently located two blocks off Main Street, which is an easy walk. The house is beautifully decorated and very clean. There was an amazing coffee cake waiting for us when we arrived. We didn't cook, but the house was well stocked for it. Plenty of bath towels. Bed were incredibly comfortable and the street was quiet. We had an amazing time at the Travis St. house and would go back to this rental if we planned to come again!
This house was wonderful!!!
Lots of character. Beautiful furnishings and decor. Very clean. Delicious continental breakfast.
We were smitten with this cottage. The house was very clean and comfortable and the beautiful antiques and decor reminded us of a bygone era reminiscent of our grandparents. The location was very convenient to Main Street. Our favorite feature by far was the porch. We spent lots of time on the white wicker furniture enjoying the breeze and watching the birds. It was so peaceful. We will definitely revisit Fredericksburg and will stay at a Travis House again!!!
antiques were great, lots of space, good location, good beds
This house was the perfect location, so beautiful and comfortable. Everything about the rental was just amazing and made the trip even better. I will definitely stay here every time I visit.
It was a great weekend to spend in Fredericksburg. We rented this two bedroom home for the weekend. It's very charming, clean and comfortable. Heidi left us a coffee cake (sure was good). The beds were most comfortable and everything in the house looked clean and well maintained. We loved it!
My husband & I were only able to book this home for one night so we did not spend a lot of time in the house. There is a large living room & dining room which were both spacious & comfortable. Nice, well equipped, kitchen with large pantry. The complimentary coffee cake, cereal, milk, juice & bottled water were a nice surprise. Both bedrooms offered space to move around and the bed was comfortable with quality linens. The bathrooms were on the small side with showers that were pretty tight leaving you not much room to move around. This older home offers beautiful vintage & antique furniture. Two outdoor spaces looked very nice and inviting but we didn't have time to enjoy this feature. The property is very close to downtown, in a nice neighborhood and perfect for 1 or 2 couples.
This house was so charming, very clean, comfortable king size beds! They offer local coffee and had a beautiful coffee cake awaiting for us on the dinning room table! It was so wonderful and the neighborhood is so quaint and we just sat for hours watching the cars drive by and listening to the birds! Great place to stay. We plan to come back for sure and stay at the Travis house again!
Our stay was comfortable and enjoyable from beginning to end. The beds were most comfortable and the home was clean and fresh. The location was very convenient, and we enjoyed visiting on the front porch.
A home away from home. Very comfortable. Pastry is delicious. My husband couldn't stop thanking me for finding this place and kept saying "I love this place". I highly recommend. A++++
The house is very nice and cozy. I would definitely stay here again
We loved the Travis Street House. Close to main street and other places we wanted to go, but just far enough for some peace and quiet. Nice neighborhood, beautiful home, clean, stylish and perfect for the family of 4 traveling together. Just wish we could have stayed longer! Everything was clearly laid out in the welcome packet after hours and check out was easy too. Very friendly staff that we interacted with. Can't wait to come back!
PS-Super comfy bedding and linens!
This is an older home with hardwood floors. The beds were clean and comfortable. We enjoyed having 2 bedrooms AND 2 baths. Both had showers and helped everyone get going faster in the mornings. I was afraid the traffic on the street might be noisy but later in the evening traffic was a non-issue. We slept like babies. I would stay here again any day. I just might request it next stay. Very ROOMY for 4 adults.
Everything was great from check in, the stay at the Travis House the coffee and Danish to the check out. We would stay there again when we return to Fredericksburg and recommend this house to everyone.
Stayed here for a couple of days with my sister and our mother. We drove to Main Street (2 blocks) since we weren't sure if the walk would be too much for our mother who is 84, and there wasn't any issue finding parking. The town does close up around 6:00 a.m. so make dinner plans accordingly. The house was great. Clean and the most comfy bedding! We will be back. If you're planning on cooking meals at the house, be sure to pack the basic necessities such as oil, seasonings (other than salt/pepper), and oven mitts. Plenty of silverware and dishes are available. They also have refillable K cup and a Keurig machine, with a local brand of coffee available. Juice, milk, and water were also available as well as continental breakfast items such as cereal and a delicious coffee cake.
Overall we loved the Travis house. It is very close to town. The house had a wonderful feel to it. We enjoyed the stocked refrigerator with milk, water and juices as well as the wonderful cinnamon coffee cake. The beds were extremely comfortable. While the bathrooms are not connected to the bedrooms, I didn't really feel that was a big deal. The house is located on a very busy street, so I wouldn't recommend this house if you are looking for "country " quiet porch sitting. We did take advantage of sitting on the porch in the evening, enjoying a wine and "car watched." It was a great house for the value.
We thought the Travis House was an excellent choice for two couples. The beds were comfortable, and although there is a lot of traffic noise during the day, it was very quiet at night. The layout is a little quirky, but we quickly got used to it and were very comfortable in the house. If you're looking for modern and trendy this wouldn't be a good choice, but if you appreciate old homes with a few "wrinkles" it's a great place to stay.
The house is in a great location! Short walk to Main Street and all the shops and restaurants. We parked in the driveway when we got there and walked almost everywhere (Which is convenient when you've had several wine tastings) Do bring a sleeping mask if you plan on sleeping in. The house has amazing natural lighting. Would definitely stay here again.
House exceeded our expectations. Great location, its walking distance to Main Street
The stay was amazing. My wife and I were there for our honeymoon and couldn't have picked a better location. Was easy walking distance to Main Street and all the charm of downtown Fredericksburg. Would definitely return for future trips.
Very nice house and great location for downtown activities. House was well furnished and very comfortable.
Enjoyed our visit----we'll be back!
The house is very convenient to Main Street and walking distance to all that you could need! Very comfortable house!
Home is very close to Main St and all that Fredericksburg offers. Plenty of space and very comfortable. This will be our place to stay when we return.
This house is so cute and clean! We loved everything about it. I would definitely recommend this house to others! Can't wait to return...
Very cute house, great furnishings, very comfortable.
Easy to walk downtown. On a street with higher traffic but this didn't bother us. Fire pit in yard which we enjoyed in the evening. Beautiful home that worked great with four people. We would definitely love to stay here again.

This home was so stinking cute and historic. Very clean, wonderful linens along with many pillows and such comfortable mattresses (my sister wanted to take one home with her). It was fun to look at the framed original house plans in the dining room and imagine that life. There are many doors in this house, along with the authentic built-ins, added to it's charm. The only negative was the noisy road but seemed to quiet by 8pm. It was very close to town and could walk all over easily. We spent a couple hours walking to the interesting cemetery and back looking at other homes. We were very impressed with the continental breakfast provided. A fresh coffeecake was dropped off on the 2nd day! They were delicious along with cereals, coffee, tea, water and orange juice. Everything you needed to start your day.
Everything was very nice, there was nothing that we needed. There was a nice big coffee cake sitting on the table when we arrived, breakfast items, lots of large fluffy towels in the bathrooms. We will stay there again.
Great location - easy walking to Main Street. Beds are very comfortable. Loved the house.
We enjoyed our stay. Very nice clean house!
Within walking distance of Main, great charm tucked away in this historic house. Coffee cake was a great surprise.
We loved staying at the Travis house. It is a large home with everything we wanted or needed.. The bed was so comfortable.
We enjoyed sitting on the front porch.
The coffee cake was delicious!! We all loved our stay at the Travis House.
Great little house - very charming. We were super impressed with how clean it was. The beds were very comfortable and the sheets were very soft - it was quite a comfortable stay.
We really enjoyed staying at the Travis House! The furnishings were beautiful and the property was conveniently located close to downtown. If you are looking for great food and live music - go to Silver Creek you will not be disappointed.
Loved the house. Enjoyed sitting outside. The beds were very comfortable. Overall very enjoyable visit.
Great house for two couples...walking distance to town while also quiet. Loved the Zinc lined shower.
Clean, convenient, comfortable for two couples...
Super cute house on the corner. Convenient to Main Street. Great outdoor spaces. Give it a try, you'll love it!
Great location. Walking distance from Main Street. Great house for 2 couples. The beds are WONDERFUL - big plus. Easy access to wineries and restaurants. Vacasa staff friendly and helpful. Incredible coffee cake left for us for breakfast!
This is a very nice 2 bedroom, 2 bath house with a great front porch to enjoy a glass of wine or there is a nice outdoor patio area that is blocked from the street you can enjoy also. We were in Fredericksburg for a quick girls weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the property. Would definitely stay there again.
Cottage has 2 bedrooms and 2 senate bathrooms, no ensuite. Plenty of living space.
If you are searching for an affordable place to stay within walking distance of the National Museum of the Pacific War and downtown Fredericksburg, this is a great location. Bring another couple and enjoy the space a hotel room cannot provide. Together with the cottage location, a small group could enjoy a nice family get-together.

We will be returning to Travis House! No need to shop around. The longer we stayed, the more we loved it! Very comfortable for 2 couples.
Had a wonderful stay here in this beautiful Craftsman house. Very comfortable and furnished with great antiques.
Charming but loud, creaky floors, and an unusual floor plan. The second full bath is on the other side of the house from the bedroom and through the kitchen. The people are nice to deal with, fresh paint on the walls, cute furnishings, but worn toilet seat.
The house was very nice, but the location was terrible. During the day, the street noise (trucks constantly passing) was so loud that we could not use the porch or patio, or have a conversation with the door open. Also, the showers are uncomfortably cramped.
