Freshly renovated lakefront home w/ dock, kayaks & two kitchens!

If you're looking for a serene place to relax, to gather your thoughts and wash away all your worries, you've found the right spot. This freshly renovated spacious South Hero home has stunning lake views, a dock, and more. You'll have views of not only the lake but also of the Green Mountains. You'll be near a major bike route, which you can explore with the two available bikes, or you can take the bike ferry to the Colchester side. While this home is secluded enough to provide you privacy and peacefulness, you'll also be close to adventure. The first level includes a living room area that offers a leather couch and a large cable-equipped flatscreen TV. The full kitchen on this level is outfitted in white appliances and cabinetry. Both the kitchen and the small dining table nearby offer views of the lake through the sliding glass doors that lead out to the patio. Upstairs is another living room, which also contains a flatscreen TV and plenty of seating. The second-floor kitchen boasts stainless steel appliances. You'll have access to a shale beach, and there's also a firepit out by the water - perfect for cooler nights. If you'd rather stay a little closer to the house, there's comfortable patio furniture and a gas grill.

What's nearby:
One of four towns on the Lake Champlain Islands, this Vermont town is uniquely charming. When you visit, be sure to check out Bird House Forest, where vibrant birdhouses hang from hardwood trees. Just be sure to wear appropriate attire since you'll be in a swampy area. You'll also want to venture to Castle Island, where you can experience the wonderment of miniature castles up close and personal. South Hero is known for its forests and rocky shores and beaches, all of which make perfect trails, so be sure to take a nature walk to explore the area.

Things to know:

Perfect for large group. Stayed here for son’s wedding. Convenient...nice large space

This house was perfect for our family getaway. We enjoyed the water access and it was easy to travel into Burlington to explore. Thanks for a great week!

The location can't be beat! This property and home had everything you would want for a truly enjoyable summer vacation--EXCEPT the dock, which was advertised. We were disappointed that the dock was not installed; all the pieces were piled up on the front yard. Other than that, this place was an A+.
Manager response:
We apologize for the missing dock. Lake Champlane was at flood stage for 6 weeks this spring and early summer. This pushed back the ability to install docks until this time. Thank you!

We are a family with adult children and Southern Exposure was perfect for us! It was very clearn. It had so many bedrooms (several with king-sized beds) and 3 bathrooms.
The kitchen was supplied with everything that we needed to make several meals (including spices, oil, plastic wrap, etc). The dining table fit us all very comfortably and was in front of windows that provided access to the amazing view. The outside was great--a huge lawn with access to the rocky beach and the water. We would definitely stay again!

This location is a beautiful spot. We did have a few difficulties. Very tough location to bring a boat in the yard and we were not informed about the issues with mooring a boat here although we tried to call ahead. It is possible to bring a small boat, but a northern wind makes it risky. The interior is very nice although not top end and several partially completed upgrade items were observed. The house however is very spacious, the kitchen is well equipped. and the yard is great. A great advantage for this locations is its proximity to the Burlington bike trail. Overall a very nice place to stay with the family.

The house was very nice, there were two separate hang out spots which would be great for families because the kids could hang out in the basement and leave the adults to the main area of the house to relax. The swimming was great, there were a lot of rocks but they were mostly smooth so they did not pose much of an issue (though I did wear water shoes myself).
The one downside is the lack of AC, but with the windows open and the overhead fans going it didn't end up being that bad. One of our friends who stayed in the room with the twin beds did mention that those beds were short so definitely leave them for the kids or have shorter people sleep in that room.
Otherwise it was a great area and a lovely stay

We had a great time. It was even better than advertised. Plenty of floats and kayaks to enjoy the water and fun lawn games to enjoy the yard. Awesome place on the water!

As a very laid back location...Southern Exposure is the perfect place to bring your large family to stay while being in the area for a UVM graduation. The house has all of the amenities you need to house a large group and not have to leave for any reason. With a fully stocked kitchen, you will be able to make all meals...and not have to fight the crowds during graduation weekend. The view is great as well as the entire outdoor area. Great place to enjoy the beautiful VT weather in May.

This house is in a gorgeous spot right on Lake Champlain. The lawn, deck, beach, fire pit, dock, and location are all fantastic and were well worth the stay. However, the house really needs a thorough cleaning and some TLC. We found the musty/damp smell (which the response to other reviews indicated had been resolved) is very pervasive, especially in the downstairs. The outside of the house needs a power wash or at least a really good sweeping to get the cobwebs cleared from the doors. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and would even consider staying here again, I just think the house could use a bit of extra love.
Manager response:
We are sorry the guests had to endure the strong odor in the home. We’re very happy to report that the owners have recently renovated the lower level down to the studs, which has eliminated the musty smell. The kitchen has been updated with all new appliances. New door, windows and a mattress have been added. To better guarantee future success, a high tech air exchange system was installed. Thank you.

House was great -- right on the southern edge of the Lake, with staircase down to small beach area and dock. Two kayaks, which we really enjoyed. Firepit outside for smores. Indoors the upstairs has a master with king and two bedrooms with fulls, as well as 2 bath. Large kitchen upstairs and plenty of seating at table and couches. Downstairs there is also a galley kitchen, big bedroom with king and a room with two twins. Has washer dryer and dishwasher. Very pleasant stay!

A nice size house with a great view. The yard, beach and patio the best part of this property. Fire pit, lots of outdoor seating, kayaks and games all wonderful for creating fun times. Although the interior space is large with 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms it is in need of updating and a thorough cleaning. The lower level has a great movie watching room with a large screen tv but the significant mildew odor on that level made it impossible for family members with asthma/allergies to hang out in the tv room or stay in the bedrooms on that level.
Manager response:
We apologize for the unpleasant odor this guest experienced. The owner dried out the rugs and placed a dehumidifier in the room. Thanks!

The top floor of this house, with its 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen, and huge living area, is extremely comfortable. House has sweeping views of the lake and easy access for boating and swimming. Great location close to the bike trail and 2 wineries.

We enjoyed our stay. It was so quiet and relaxing to be on the lake. We enjoyed the kayaks and bikes. The house and furnishings are older. The downstairs had a musty smell and some bugs, but nothing too bad. There is no AC, but most rooms had ceiling fans. The kitchen had new appliances and was very well stocked.

We were a party of 8 adults & two small children. This house is spacious & comfortable for a group that size - everyone had room to spread out. The beds are comfortable & many staples are supplied for you. You have beautiful views of the lake & the nearby mountains.
