Curtis-Moulton is a lovely and simple house, open to spectacular Black Point views from every room. Very comfortable, unpretentious, all the necessities thoughtfully provided. Of 5 houses we've rented at Sea Ranch, this is easily our favorite. Our dog had the best week of his life, and our teenagers were happy every hour. (1968 design by Ratcliffe Architects in Berkeley is a hidden gem among many at Sea Ranch.)
Lovely and rustic home. Recommended.
The C-M Retreat was a wonderful place to spend a long weekend, with easy access, all mod cons, and an absolutely jaw-dropping vista out the huge living room picture windows. Those swivel chairs got quite a workout going back and forth between looking at a roaring fire, whomever was talking, and a cinematic expanse of wild coastline. Would absolutely recommend it to anyone who needs some time in the presence of something greater than themselves!
This is a great place for a relaxing weekend getaway. The view from the cabin is just gorgeous and the cozy fireplace in the cabin makes for a fun time!
The view couldn't be beat! Right next to the trail and could walk to the beach. The kitchen was well equiped, master bed was very comfy, and we enjoyed the fire place. The patio/porch area was very pleasant to enjoy the sunshine.
My only concern was that they didnt provide enough dish washer soap nor laundry soap. Other than that it was amazing!
The home is in a great location near the bluff and walking trail so there is always something to be looking at and lots of time is spent just enjoying the amazing views. Kitchen was well equipped and had a lot of the extras that made cooking easy. There could be a little more attention to detail in the cleaning. Home wasn't dusted even though the cleaning crew was there earlier that day. Cobwebs were all over the master bedroom and the tables inside and outside were both dirty. Mattresses in the guest rooms are both in need of replacing, sagging and springs were very evident when laying on them. Overall, we did love the layout and location and were able to clean up what hadn't been attended to. Thanks for sharing your home.
We appreciate this guest's feedback! This home is scheduled for a seasonal deep clean and inspection at which point we will have the chance to address any outstanding issues in the home. We look forward to hosting this guest again!
Even though the home can accommodate six people, my husband and I found it to be very comfortable for two. The views from all windows were spectacular and most importantly the windows were clean, which is not always the case with vacation rentals at Sea Ranch. We will definitely return to the Curtis-Moulton Retreat.
Having an ocean view and hearing breaking waters all day long. Seeing wildlife up close, walking the coastal trails, and just relaxing and watching the magnificent view from every room.
We loved our stay here and would happily return. Fantastic prime viewing spot for Sea Ranch. Kitchen is well-stocked, utensil-wise, etc. Great vibe all day long as we cooked and read and played "old-school" CDs on the stereo system. Nothing to nitpick here!
We loved the view. The house is dated, but that's ok. What wasn't ok was the fact that it wasn't very clean and lacked enough of the basic needs like soap, detergent, dishwasher pods, etc. We went to the store for more dishwasher detergent. Mattresses are very dated. I think the house was built in 1967, so it's dated but I have to say, with a little attention to detail, we would have loved it.
We are sorry to see our guest felt the home was not very clean and would have been happy to send housekeeping back by to address any issues and drop off additional supplies had they called. This house is an older home, and the owners are slowly making improvements. They have recently installed new kitchen counter tops in the home. Thanks!
The house is very 70's and has a spectacular view. The perfect house to relax and take long walks. The beds are comfortable and the sheets very new.
The house had basic cooking equipment.
Dog Friendly with a view! Fantastic! This property sit just up the street from two other Vacasa properties if anyone is looking to get several rentals in one location; the Webb House and the Vista Grande House. We had a ball and everyone was happy.
I love staying here! It is my favorite vacation rental! the best view and the path is in the front yard! They have made the house very comfortable, with a well stocked kitchen.
We've stayed at this house a number of times now and we love it.
We loved this home... it was great for my husband and me + a family with two small children. We stayed in the master bedroom which had absolutely beautiful views. It is close to the main coastal trail. We walked several miles daily. The kitchen is well appointed with most everything you need to prepare amazing meals. One word of caution... be careful what you store in the cabinet behind the fireplace ~ breads will toast.
Great house for family (one couple, two young adults), great views, perfect location, very nice original/historic Sea Ranch experience.
6 friends stayed here for NYE weekend. Extremely beautiful views and easy access to beach (a 15 minute walk). The house itself is not the most updated but served our purposes well. Loved the huge fireplace and spacious kitchen.
Curtis-Moulton is an older very basic home which is nicely furnished but has a white water view to die for. We have stayed in several homes over the last 20 years and prefer this one. It is dog friendly and our Dalmatian loves Sea Ranch. It is located within an easy walk to Black Point Beach--one can walk the trail for miles in either direction. You can see the white water view from every room in the house, and the large fireplace provides wonderful warmth on those cold, rainy days. It is fun observing wildlife from the living room.
We spent 5 wonderful days at this house with amazing views! Comfortable family home right on the bluffs- great for long walks, close to Black Pointe Beach, and dog friendly. We will be back!
This is one of the original Sea Ranch houses and it has all the pluses (the architecture and superb location) and minuses (warn down carpets, appliances, etc.) that status brings with it. The views from every window are breathtaking and the bluff path is just a few steps away.
We rented the Curtis-Moulton house for my 30th and my friend's 31st birthday. The house could not have been in a better location. Every room had a view of the ocean and with the windows open the sound of the waves was so peaceful and inviting. Another reviewer had remarked about the spotty wi-fi and cable. We had absolutely no problems with this anywhere within Sea Ranch. I came to this house to escape work, life and the city. I wasn't focused on wifi, but sat outside for hours listening to the ocean and watching the waves.
We brought very easy to assemble, no stress on anyone meals. Things to make breakfast sandwiches, frozen lasagna and other snack items and found the kitchen met our needs. The welcome email with check in instructions flat out states that their may not be spices in the house and that may be something you need to bring with you. We understood this and planned accordingly. Gualala was just up the road 10 minutes if we found we needed anything. Our only complaint was the trash situation. It was clear no one from the Vacasa or the cleaning service came back to the house to take the trash out on for Tuesday pickup. As such there were multiple bags still in the trash can, and we just had to add ours on top.
However, aside from that little issue. We would absolutely rent this house again. You could not beat the proximity to the ocean and the peace and tranquility this provided. We loved it. We definitely will be back.
Till next time Curtis-Moulton House!
This house grows on you the longer you are there. The V shape floor plan and one level is great. The view is spectacular. If you are going for the view, lovely beaches, great walking trails and a nice quiet place to read a good book or to sleep this is the house for you. The bedrooms are oddly shaped and small and the toilet in the master is crammed behind the door. It is not suitable if you like to prepare all or most of your meals during your stay and is not very clean , dust on the tables in the family room and bedrooms, and the beautiful black slate hearth. Upon our arrival we were greeted with dirty towels left on the front step by the cleaning person. The first thing I do when we rent a vacation home is look thru the kitchen. In this kitchen we found old filthy frying pans, cooking utensils that had been put away dirty, no broiler pan, coffee maker with grounds in the decanter and in the water compartment. We had to purchase napkins , plastic baggies, tin foil and salt/pepper. The propane BBQ that was one of the amenities listed for the home was awful, rusted out with mold growing all around the edges, looked like it had not been used in years. We called Vacasa about all of these issues, spoke to Jody who graciously purchased new fry pans and provided us with a BBQ to use during our stay. The listing says there is WiFi and cable TV. However, this property did not invest in the new fiber that everyone else has in Sea Ranch so WiFi is spotty at best, can't stream anything, you can watch DVD's but bring your own. There is a sound system with some CD's that have all been taken out of their cases and tossed on top of the player in the closet so most are scratched and don't play well. I did find some puzzles in a closet that was a fun way to pass the time. If it is all about the amazing view then this is the place for you.
House was great! Good layout and awesome views. However, about 8-10 lights are burned out in various fixtures, either in the ceiling edge track or directly above. Makes for a challenging time in the evenings. When we took our one trash bag out to the trash can storage area we found that trash in that pen has not been removed for sometime. Looked like multiple weeks worth of trash from previous renters. You should get the local Fiber Internet offered by the community. Is way faster than the cable company, which was bad.
We appreciate receiving this review. All of the burnt out light bulbs have been replaced. Sometimes, with the high volume of guests, trash pick-up gets behind; we apologize. The trash has been picked up.
Perfect location and nice walk to the stairway to the beach. Very cozy - great for 5 adults. Peaceful and completely relaxing!!
Overall our experience was good but mostly because of the location. The location and view from the house could not be better!! However, we were given the wrong key code so could not enter the home upon arrival at 3:30PM. When we called the office we were told that we could not enter the home until 4PM or until the cleaners indicated to the office that they were complete and the house was ready, which it was when we arrived at 3:30PM. Also the key pad didn't seem to be working. There were some basics missing; paper towels, automatic dishwashing soap, a sponge for cleaning and there were just two coffee filters. We called and were told that it sounded like we didn't receive our welcome bag. Someone dropped it off within a couple of hours but there was still no coffee filters or automatic dishwashing soap in the bag. Very disapointing as we had to drive to town for these basics. Also, both times we called the office we were treated pleasantly enough but not once did the person on the phone offer an apology.
The house is in a beautiful location. The view of the ocean was spectacular. It is an old house and not worth the cost. Amenities were scant. Don't think we needed to bring our own TP when paying 500.00 a night. It says it sleeps 8. It has three bedrooms, one of which is a good size. The other two were very small. Extra guests would be on the couch or a collapsible bed, which was small. More information is needed so a better decision could be made to accommodate the number of people staying at the home.
We apologize for the oversight with the toilet paper as housekeeping should have provided a starting amount. We do list the number and sizes of beds in the description of the home. Thank you!
By far the best location and view in all of Sea Ranch! Great amenities and wonderful house at reasonable rates! I have vacationed in Sea Ranch many times and have stayed in this house before--it will always be my first choice! Don't let the "dated house" comment be a put off. This is one of the original houses in Sea Ranch (hence the best location/view) and it needs to be appreciated as a step back into the early history of Sea Ranch (early 1970s) when the houses were vacation homes and not luxury mansions! The owners and manager have eliminated the ant problem, replaced the appliances, and now, very nice linens are provided. With the ability to accommodate up to 7 people (a hide-a-bed is provided), HD-DVD player and 2 TVs, huge fireplace, well a well stocked kitchen, the path at your front door, and stunning views from every room of the open ocean, amazing bay, meadow, and/or forest, this house cannot be topped!!
The location can't be beat. Fantastic cliff side views and wonderful proximity to walking trails. The house was built in 1969 and has such charm! The wifi was more reliable than advertised and we streamed movies every night. There were baby deer that came up to the porch at dusk and the bird population is wonderful. We really enjoyed our vacation here.
Very comfortable house. Great location. Has everything you need.
the house is old and shows it but the views cant be beat. their were problems with ants and they tried to take care of it but it wasn't completely fixed.
There are ant traps at the home, and we have sprayed as well. We apologize for the inconvenience they may have caused this guest.
The views and trails leading out of this house are absolutely stunning. The house itself was ok, but old and falling apart, with a weak dishwasher, extremely poor heating, and several light bulbs and switches not working or extremely dim. The kitchen was well-stocked with utensils and equipment. There's also a major ant problem--we left a cake out overnight and in the morning it was covered in hundreds of ants. Be careful!
It’s always exciting to hear our guests gush over this home’s location—the fantastic views and trails leading out from it. We appreciate their comments regarding some opportunities within the home. Our property manager recently labelled the bank of light switches to make guests aware of which lights they’re associated with. The owner has treated the home for ants and is considering options for the dishwasher. Thank you.
Nothing can beat the views from this property. We saw fog and sun. Deer, bats, many birds. The most amazing location that we will visit again.
The location can't be beat! We enjoyed our last-minute getaway tremendously. The house is showing its age, yet the condition of it is excellent. The house is well taken care of. We just wish we could have stayed three nights, especially with the 4:00 check-in. We never ventured to the Lodge for cocktails since we had our own "lodge" to enjoy!!
The Curtis-Moulton residence at 68 Galleons reach has a wonderful location with great access to trails and the quintessential Sea Ranch view. However, the condition and cleanliness of the property left much to be desired. The kitchen was not well cleaned, there were dirty dishes in the cupboards, and flies everywhere.
We were disappointed with Vacasa's policy of requiring renters to drive 20 miles round trip (into Gualala and back) upon check-in and check-out, in order to retrieve and return the key. Why are they not using a lockbox at the residence as most other owners do?
I can't imagine that any house anywhere in Sea Ranch has a better view. It's just bluff, sea and sky. It's a quick stroll to the Lodge if you want to stay out of your car. The bird-watching is fantastic. The house has seen better days, for sure, but it was cozy inside and spectacular looking out. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
The Sea Ranch is the best experience for a get-away. Curtis-Moulton house is situated in a perfect place with outstanding view. A bonus is that the house has no stairs to climb and is very well designed for its location.
Use my moments from survey.
My granddaughter turned 10 and wanted a beach birthday, so we rented this home for our family. The location was fabulous, close to the bluff and within walking distance to a very nice beach. (stair access; very steep) The home was very original... 60s decor with no updates. Home could use a good cleaning and a bit of TLC.
Great views, easy access to bluffs and beach
The views from this house are amazing. However, the inside is tired 60s decor. If you plan on spending a lot of time outside this may not be an issue.
This house and this place are breathtaking!
