It was a lovely home with an incredible outside view. The hot tub over the beach was beautiful and a big draw for me. However, between owner fees and contractor (aka: Vacasa, VRBO, etc) fees, the cost was significant for just two nights. When we arrived, we learned: The internet info we were provided beforehand via email was inaccurate, there was no heating other than a wood pellet stove (which was totally fine with me! but for which there were no pellets), there were cobwebs across the light fixtures in the kitchen and bathrooms, the back door to the deck was near impossible to open and close, our clean towels were very damp when we arrived (they had certainly been cleaned, but not dry by the time we arrived at 4pm), one of the lamps above the hot tub was broken. Lots of small things were significant for me given the total cost of the space for the weekend. It was a wonderful quaint spot great for sampling groups.
We appreciate you leaving your feedback with us. We were happy to bring pellets to you and apologize we did not notice they were low prior to your arrival. There are also baseboard heaters guests can use. The internet was taken care of by the provider within an hour of you reaching out to us, and we have followed-up with housekeeping. Maintenance is taking care of the sliding glass door and solar lights. Thank you!

Our family loved staying in this comfortable, charming sea-side cottage. We played at the beach, drive to see the magnificent Redwoods (about 30 minutes away), enjoyed watching sunsets on the deck and loved Brookings harbor. My 7 year old especially enjoyed the “Log Town” building set they had. It was just enjoyable in every way.

This was definitely home away from home! Clean, comfortable and cozy. The view from the deck and even from the living room and loft bedroom was outstanding! We spent a ton of time on the deck. We came to Brookings to get married and we are so please with this home. We will definitely rent here again!

Beautiful views and great home! We loved snuggling up by the pellet stove and watching the ocean. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Beautiful relaxing time with family
Brad S.Apr 2019
just one of those homes that begs for some upkeep. Old furniture, linens, towels, etc. Army Surplus flatware at best, just didn't make you want to return
Thank you for your valuable feedback. It helps us to improve the unit We hope we can host you again in a unit more suited to your needs.

Great spot on a bluff. Nice separation of space on three sides of the house which gave our kids plenty of place to play catch and run around. The closest neighbor is situated in such a way you only see them if they are on their deck at the same time you are.

This is one of the most amazing places we have stayed (includes Vacasa, VRBO, Airbnb and others). The home had all we wanted, but the view, access to the beach, the accommodations, and privacy, were perfect for me and my wife. We plan to make regular visits in the future, whenever we are on the west coast. Close access to businesses in Brookings or Harbor, just made it that much better.

Outstanding ocean views. Quiet and relaxing. We couldn't find the private path to the beach as advertised, however there was a park just down the street that did have beach access. Also, the property could use some updating and maintenance. There was only one washcloth in the entire cabin for a 3 night stay. Overall, the location is great but the accommodations were lacking somewhat.
We have followed-up with housekeeping regarding properly stocking the home, and we have updated directions to access the beach path. Thank you!

We absolutely loved this charming little place. FABULOUS location with the best view.
We had a slight issue with the trash service but the Vacasa folks were right on it and took very good care of us.
Cannot wait to go back.
Hannah F.May 2018
The best thing about the house is the view of the ocean from the back porch and large windows at the back of the house. Quiet location but still convenient to drive to restaurants.
Thomas R.Apr 2018
From the moment we arrived to the time we checked out, we loved our stay at the home on Max lane. From relaxing by the wood stove after a day of hiking to waking to the sounds of the waves crashing right outside our door, we enjoyed the peaceful stay, and can't wait to return.
Jim H.Apr 2018
The weather the entire time we were in the rental was windy and rainy, which made for a booming surf which could be heard and was very theraputic. One of us slept in the loft bed and the unsettled weather made for great sleeping and a very memorable stay.
Dao N.Mar 2018
What a view!! The house is spacious, bright and cozy at the same time. It has everything we need for a comfortable stay. The location is also great; close to grocery and restaurants although we didn’t try to eat out.
Graciela M.Jan 2018
We rented this home for only 2 nights. Wish it was more. We were only 2 travelers. So it was bigger than we needed, but very happy we stayed here. Location is great, home is beautiful and homey. Very happy.

We were very happy with our cabin for our first family holiday away from home.
It was cozy with all the comforts of home.
Tyson S.Dec 2017
Great location. My dad and I went fishing and stayed at this property. The location is absolutely stunning as you are literally on the ocean. We enjoyed an easy commute to the Brookings marina which provided some great choices for food and drink in the evenings. The rental He’s very comfortable and all appliances were in great working condition. It is slightly dated but it did not take away from our wonderful stay in this cozy cabin.

Pellet stove is inconvenient. Also, there wasn't any pellets available on site. When we arrived at 6 PM the house was freezing cold and there wasn't any pellets to heat the house. If there wasn't space heaters avavible we would have not even stayed there and I would have requested a refund immediately. Otherwise our stay was very pleasant.
The pellet supply has been replenished, and we will ensure the lights and heat are on for our next incoming guests. We appreciate this feedback!
Ian G.Nov 2017
We spent three nights at the house and had a nice time. Very roomy and comfortable. Directions for pellet stove were helpful. Overall had a very nice time.
Patricia N.Nov 2017
Quiet, warm and relaxing.

This home is magnificent: location, amenities, comfort, versatility, and more. We are a 50ish couple who stayed by ourselves, but wished we'd brought another couple or family with us--that's how adaptable this home is. Kitchen, bedrooms, deck, living space, bathrooms, and loft are all fabulously equipped & comfortable. The ocean views and sounds are amazing, and it was fun to cook, curl up in front of the pellet stove, walk in the yard, and head to the beach from the nearby park. Great TV/WiFi connection, too. Easy in/out to 101 in 2 directions from the home, and lots to do/see/experience once you can tear yourself away from this great home. We loved it!!
Gina D.Oct 2017
We loved the home and the view
James H.Oct 2017
I have nothing negative to say other that the $150+++ miscellaneous fees charged.
The local property managers could have done a better job of making instructions for operating various conveniences and local eateries handy for renters. The view is spectacular, but the quality of devices to gaze upon the ocean could definitely be upgraded to improve the experience.
Kurt G.Aug 2017
We were blessed to enjoy our time in Brookings on the coast, views were spectacular and the beach weather was perfect.
Rick Z.Aug 2017
Beautiful home and views
Alisha C.Jul 2017
Beautiful views. Fun time at the tide pools at McVay. Having every kitchen appliance was quite handy. We were also mesmerized by the oil rain lamp that hung by the stairs.
Thomas H.Jul 2017
This was an outstanding property. it was well off the main highway and all you could hear was the sound of the ocean. The cottage was equipped with everything you need. The cottage was very comfortable. It felt just like home. Cant wait to go back again.

We enjoyed are stay. We commuted to the Red Woods for the first time. The area is a neat place to visit. We had been to the Oregon coast, but this was the first time for the southern coast.
Henry V.May 2017
Had an awesome time plenty of room for all , will definately be back
Susie W.Mar 2017
We enjoyed our first visit here so much, got on-line and booked it again! The pictures are accurate...rustic, homey and a beautiful view. I always appreciate a well stocked kitchen whenever we rent a home and this one has it. Anything you need is there including sharp knives! The wicker chairs on the deck are comfy and a great place to spend the day even if it's cold. Just bundle up and enjoy. There is a path to the beach just a short walk up the road to the creek but be careful of the tides.
Steve M.Mar 2017
Great ocean view from this unique cedar home, just feet from the ocean. Very quiet area with just three homes on the lane. Even with one house close on one side, it is private. The kitchen is more than fully equipped by rental home standards, with lots of utensils and appliances. It was cold during our stay, but we stayed comfortable with the pellet stove.
Rhonda L.Feb 2017
Lovely location. Great for family and well stocked for cooking. We were there for a storm. Fantastic.
Tanya M.Feb 2017
Great weekend, worked very well. Stocked with needed items. Would stay there again.
Sherry W.Nov 2016
Would stay here again, kitchen is very useable and great BBQ.cozy living room and bedrooms
Troi W.Oct 2016
Even though the rain and lighting was beautiful looking out over the ocean I would recommend not visiting in the heavy rain season. Because of the bad weather we had to stay in most of out visit. The cable service and the tv was out for some time. So besure to bring reading material and games to entertain in the event You find yourself in bad weather. On a high note - lovely place to be stuck in doors.
Todd R.Oct 2016
Great place and location, highly recommend.
Ryan N.Oct 2016
My wife and I enjoyed our stay here over our anniversary immensely. So much so that we ordered out for food instead of going somewhere because the view can't be beat! I would recommend bringing ear plugs since the building creaks a bit when the temperature changes from day to night.
William M.Sep 2016
This was our honeymoon trip. The house was perfect, the right size. We enjoyed the sound of the surf and the gorgeous views. The telescope was great my husband spotted a wale in the distance. We would go back in a heartbeat.
Andrea R.Sep 2016
Very cozy log cabin beach house with beautiful ocean front
Paige B.Sep 2016
we stayed with friends for five days and enjoyed the views - both by day and by night. the photographers in the group got excellent Milky Way photos. the house was clean but the front windows needed washing and lack of screens allowed flies to enter. the park with beach access down the road was disappointing.
We appreciate receiving this feedback. Housekeeping has washed all windows, but some windows do have some moisture trapped between the double-panes. There are screen doors in both front and back to help with a breeze and keep the bugs out. There is a beach that is walking distance from the home; the directions have been laminated and posted in the home for guest convenience.
Amanda S.Aug 2016
Beautiful retreat on quite road. Town near by has all you need. 1 and 1/2 hour drive to Red Wood forest. No direct beach access from house. Beach access is very short (1minute) drive down road. Nice beach, kids had a great time:)
Keith J.Aug 2016
The location sells this place. The front deck overlooking the ocean is exceptional. Watching the sea during the day and sunset in the evening was a pleasure. The house is cosy but does need a little update and de-clutter. Nobody likes to find a jar of peppercorns that are 14 years out of date in a cupboard.
Brookings is a nice little town to pass a little time in. The beach out the front can be reached via the state beach access a block from the property.
Tandee B.Aug 2016
Waking up and ending my day with that view is spectacular !
Keith A.Aug 2016
Myself, wife and 2 teenage boys had a great week in and about the Brookings area. After exploring during the day we returned to cook meals and mix cocktails while enjoying the ocean view deck. The cabin met our needs for a comfortable and relaxing stay but the decor is a little kitschy for our taste. On the warmer days we were able to ventilate the place by opening the front storm door and keeping the ceiling fan on. The next door neighbor does have 2 small dogs that liked to bark when we pulled in the driveway and came over every day for attention. This was not a negative issue for us. We would stay here again but a king bed would really be nice!
We explored the many beaches and parks in the area and hiked on many trails through the redwoods in both Oregon and CA. Also did the 104 mile jet boat ride with Jerry's up the Rogue River one day. Good stuff!
Jeff O.Aug 2016
Had a great time here, but would seek better value in the future. Cabin is marginally maintained, with terrible ventilation for daytime heat, main glass doors to oceanview sealed off, cat smell upon entering, romance-killing lack of bedroom locks, and a neighbor witb obnixious barking dogs he lets loose to sniff around our deck at night and terrible security lights that made it hard to enjoy the magnificent stars at night!!!
We apologize that some disappointments cropped up during this stay. There is a ceiling fan and portable fan in the home to help with air flow during warm day. There is a storm door on the deck that probably needed to be unlocked as all windows and doors do open. The home is not pet friendly, so we're not sure where any pet-related odors would have come from, but housekeeping will investigate and eradicate any odors present. There is a switch inside the home for the security lights so guests can turn them off should they wish to do so; the lights were installed for safety purposes since the home is located on a large cliff.
James H.Jun 2016
Se thoroughly enjoyed our stay and intend to repeat in the future. The vista of the Pacific is paramount from the very nice deck and you experirnce the coastal sensations that linger on your senses.
Michael - Eleanor S.Jun 2016
Folks said it was a lovely ocean front home, very cozy and comfortable. All they needed to do was to bring food and beverages and they were good to go! If they are able to return to Oregon, this is "their place" to stay! Thanks much!
William B.May 2016
Our stay here was primarily focused on the salmon opener which didn't turn out so well as far as the fishing goes . We did catch a lot of other species of fish and had a wonderful time at this home as we have in the past and enjoy the location and wonderful view. We will definitely be back!!!
