Bright & cheery golf getaway, close wineries & local attractions

Watch the golfers drive the fairway, as you sip a glass of wine and kick back on your private deck at this charming McMinnville getaway. As the lower level of a separate residence, you'll still have plenty of privacy at this daylight basement flat and easy access to wineries, galleries, and local hot spots.

Make the quick three-mile drive into the heart of McMinnville to wander through the wine tasting rooms, or explore the local artisan shops. With easy rounds of golf across the street at the Bayou Golf Course, everyone will have something to delve into. Just a short drive to Linfield College, you'll be able to attend events on campus without the hassle.

The open main living area greets you with view of the golf course from the sliding glass doors. Grab a glass of local Pinot Noir and head out onto the deck to take notes on navigating the hazards, so you can avoid them when you play. Flip on the TV and surf the cable channels while you slowly slip into vacation mode.

Connect to the WiFi to map out your wine tasting tour, while you fire up the gas grill to barbecue a delicious dish. If grilling isn't your thing, the basic kitchenette features a mini-fridge, hot plate, and microwave to help you fix a quick meal to keep everyone fueled up and on the go.

After dinner, enjoy a game of Ping-Pong on the private table, or head back out onto the deck to enjoy the shimmer of the stars above.

As the day winds down, this two-bedroom, one-bathroom space has room for up to four guests to enjoy an escape filled with wine, golf, and local attractions. With a soft queen-size bed in each bedroom, everyone will be able to stay in comfort and style.

Bring your favorite mug and wake up with a cup of piping hot coffee from the Keurig on the deck, before heading to the Bayou Golf Course to make your tee time. Weave your way through the oaks, pines, and well-manicured landscape to set your ball on the lush green.

You can head into the heart of McMinnville to visit the tasting rooms of several of the area's best-known wineries, like Eyrie, Willamette Valley Vineyards, and R. Stuart & Co. Winery. Travel up through Dayton and Dundee and grab a sandwich at the Red Hills Market, before continuing on your way through the rolling hills, dotted with even more vineyards and picturesque picnic spots.

Practice your golf swing, meander through the rows of vines, or visit the local artists when you book your stress-free vacation at this Oregon Wine Country retreat.

Just to manage expectations- it's not the whole house as pictured but just the walkout daylight basement. A lot of space and a great ping-pong table. We had a super time. We came during the snow and it was super cozy. McMinnville is a fun place.

Enjoyed our stay.

This is a lovely daylight basement with a great view of a golf course. It's clean, spacious, and comfortable and has more TV channels than I've ever seen. The beds are nice, the bathroom is large (with white fluffy towels), and there's a ping pong table. Who doesn't love that? There's also a nice assortment of board games and a good dining room table to play them on.

There are, however, a couple of drawbacks to be aware of:
1) As mentioned in previous reviews, there are no thermostat controls in the basement. We like to sleep cold (with lots of blankets), but the heating came on strong in the middle of the night and we had to throw off covers and open windows and even then, we were still sweating in the middle of winter. Even the comfortable beds couldn't make up for the discomfort of a hot room, unfortunately. (Although - that said - I still think we slept better having two separate, if warm, rooms than we would have in a single hotel room with temperature control.) It would be nice if there was some way to request a cooler night-time temperature when booking.
2) The property is on well water, which has a slightly sulfurous smell. There's a nice set-up in the corner with a bottled water system for drinking/cooking - but be sure to remember to get a glass of the drinking water before brushing your teeth and keep in mind that your morning shower will not smell particularly good.
3) There are lots of breakable knickknacks and decorative items around. Luckily our kids are old enough to know how to be careful so it wasn't a problem, but if you have younger kids, this is probably not a good fit for you.
4) The kitchen is somewhat cobbled together with a plug-in burner and a dorm fridge. It works okay, but it's not easy to cook an elaborate meal if you plan to eat in (which, luckily, we didn't do much of this time around).
5) There is no full-size couch - just one love-seat and some smaller chairs. This means that if someone isn't sleeping well and wants to move out to the couch in the middle of the night, there's not a comfortable place out there to lie down. There are a couple of chairs that recline, but you're still in kind of a V position. Again - not a big deal, but something to be aware of.

Luckily, none of these drawbacks were a big deal for us and we would happily stay again and recommend it to others - just with those few caveats.
Manager response:
We are very pleased the guests thoroughly enjoyed the home’s views of the lush greens at the golf course and the entertainment options available. It’s understandable that each guest has a favorite sleep-time temperature level for added comfort. If anyone has a special request to lower the temperature during the night, they can contact our Guest Services team and they will relay the information to our local property manager. We appreciate they’re reporting this concern and look forward to them visiting us again. Thank you.

The house was everything we wanted it to be. Beautiful view from the backyard with that huge patio two bedrooms.

NO TEMP CONTROLS! OWNER IS IN CHARGE OF YOUR COMFORT. NO LAUNDRY FACILITIES BUT AGENCY EXPECTS YOU TO DO THEIR LINENS AND TOWELS! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TREATED LIKE A PEASANT! STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE
Manager response:
We are very sorry to read this review and hope to alleviate any guest concerns with our response. The temperature is controlled by the home. This guest was provided with twenty towels and extra sheets, and we did offer to wash their towels and linens for them during their stay. Our property manager was consistently in touch with this guest throughout their stay, and we did offer to refund them if they chose to stay elsewhere. We are very sorry to see their stay was not more enjoyable since the guest declined the refund and chose to stay in the home.

That’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve stayed at ( and I’ve been to 18 countries across Europe and Asia). Two gorgeous bedrooms, a large living room & kitchen with everything and anything you would want to have in it. Amazing bathroom & bathroom kits ( shamoo, soap...) There were 4 of us and we had a really good time, plus incredible view!!!! Thanks a lot! Definitely recommend!!!

Very clean with most of the amenities that one needs for an extended stay with family or friends. Things we liked: clean like a hotel room, comfy beds, nice bathroom, spacious deck with ample seating overlooking the golf course (okay, overlooking the driving range but still very peaceful). Things we wanted: full sized fridge (ice maker especially), complimentary coffee k-pods (at least to get us through the first morning).
We had a great stay, would stay here again and recommend to anyone looking for an alternative to booking multiple rooms at one of McMinnvilles several sub-par hotels.

This is a nice daylight basement. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans, toaster, silverware, etc. There is a hot plate for cooking, we did not use. Please be aware that the temperature is controlled by the home above and therefore if you check in early or when they are not home it may be cold. Also, you will here all footsteps from the home above, day and night.
I would recommend staying here but just wanted everyone to be aware of the temp and noise.

Quiet and comfortable

Clean, quiet except for some footsteps and the dog running around upstairs at night a few times. Great beds. Lots of room. I would do it again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this vacation home in McMinnville. We especially liked the fact that there were board games and a ping pong table to help entertain the family on our rainy weekend stay. It was close the Linfield College and Downtown and so much more comfortable and convenient than a motel for a small family. Thank you so much.

Enjoyed lovely decor and view of golf course.

The basement apartment is nice and large. It was spotless. Had some issues with linens in bath. They were new and hadn't been laundered by housekeeping prior to our stay. So after a shower or drying your hands you were left with a lot of linen fibers on your body or hands. Not very conducive to contact lens application.
Also the basement apartment has a Keurig coffee maker and is supposed to have a
"starter" supply of kcups which it did not have. Frustrating way to start the day.
Manager response:
We apologize for the misinformation. The home no longer includes K-cups for the Keurig machine. For added convenience, there is a standard coffee maker included. Just in case, it's recommended guests bring their own coffee and filters. Thank you.

The property was very clean and large with great air conditioning. The house was very comfortable with very nice beds and sitting areas and a large bathroom. This is a basement though and you could clearly hear the owners upstairs and their dog running around at all hours. Parking was also strange. There isn't an oven or full sized fridge but we did pretty well with the hot plate. Plenty of towels and a water cooler which was very nice to have. Would have liked more coffee pods. Wireless was pretty pointless and didn't work.

We stayed here specifically for the total eclipse and were not disappointed. The place was roomy and we particularly enjoyed playing table tennis and the games provided. i think however it could do with a cooker if you wanted to make a meal, especially as there is plenty of room, but it wasn't an issue for us with only being there a short time.
Holly V. Aug 2017
Our stay was wonderful & we meet our nice host who gave us good recommendations on wineries & restaurants.
Michele P. Aug 2017
Nice place, quiet with a nice view of the golf course.
Melissa K. Jul 2017
The house very clean and charming. Staff was extremely responsive and helpful! Great location, golf course and staff were extremely nice and helpful too, if you decide to golf.

My husband and I stayed at the Bayou for three weeks while we worked with our builder to prepare our new home. What a relaxing, quiet place to come back to after a day of choosing things for the house. The huge oak tree behind the house gave the deck some privacy and the owners were happy to talk, but gave us all the quiet time we wanted. The home has comfortable furniture and enough kitchen things for a bit of cooking. Don't think you're going to bake a cake here or cook a turkey, though. No oven and only two tiny refrigerators. That won't be an issue if you're eating out at all the lovely restaurants in McMinnville, Salem, and the surrounding area. We did our share of that, and also used the gas barbecue grill a few times. All in all, a nice stay. and a nice introduction to our new neighborhood.

Big open floor plan, clean, well maintained and only a short drive to downtown McMinnville

Loved the layout if the house and the location. If someone is looking for a place for an extended stay the lack of a kitchen stove and small fridge could be an issue. But for us it was perfect.
LINDA B. Oct 2016
Very clean and spacious . Queen bed was very comfortable, nice bathroom . The views and back deck from the back room were great. McMinnville has many wonderful restaurants a short drive away. One burner convection available for those who want to cook a one pot meal, also a microwave.
Temperature is controlled by the upstairs unit, but the owner was very gracious in making sure we were comfortable. Overall a very nice place!
Timothy E. Sep 2016
Very nice property with nice outdoor living space. Very convenient to wineries in the area.
Barbara S. Sep 2016
Well appointed and very comfortable. Near to McMinnville and it's charming shops and restaurants. Situated on a golf course so evenings sitting on the deck with a glass of wine or coffee in the morning were relaxing and refreshing.

Great for a weekend stay!
