Snow bunnies flock to Big Bear when feet of powder cover the ground. Snow Summit (three and a half miles away) and Bear Mountain (five miles away) resorts are just up the mountain. You can even just hop on the shuttle, which picks up just down Highway 18. Spend hours and days downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, and more. When you need a break from the cold, go bowling, see a movie, or grab a hot meal around town.
The lake is perfect for cooling off in the summer. The marina has jet ski, boat, and fishing equipment rentals, and you can even try out parasailing! Visit the Discovery Center near Fawnskin or the Alpine Zoo up next to Bear Mountain Resort, or buy wristbands for the whole group to enjoy a thrilling day at Magic Mountain a few miles away, which houses an alpine slide, water slide, go-karts, and mini-golf.
