Most of the condo has been nicely renovated. It is very convenient to Carnelian beaches. Would rent again.

We had 7 family members stay here for a 2 week vacation. We loved the short nature trail from the condo to the pool, my 4 year old grand daughter loved crossing the little bridge and she loved the extra loft room, it was quite magical for her. All the utilities in the condo served us well. It was very peaceful in a woodland away from the roads. We loved watching the chipmunks and squirrels from our 3 balconies. Walking distance to the lake too and walking distance to a restaurant so we didn't have to drive out every evening. It was very beautiful.

We had ten people ... 6 adults and four kids, including one teenager. The loft worked quite well for the four kids and the adult's bedrooms were perfect. Beds were very, very comfortable and the dining table sat ten people , using 2 of the folding chairs. We loved the big blender and that was a hit because of the great fruit smoothies that were made with it. Towels, toilet tissue rolls, and paper towels were quite sufficient for all of us, but we brought extra beach towels which made sense. We were happy to use the pool and hot tub and made use of the showers by the pool. The complex is quiet and the trails through the property were fun to follow. A great stay was had by all.

We had a big group and the size of the place was great.

Super happy with the property!

My husband, daughter, and I stayed here with two other couple friends to attend a wedding in nearby Kings Beach. It was a great layout for groups or reunions with all of the bedrooms (and one bathroom) downstairs on the entry floor, a living area on the second level, and a loft overlooking the living area. We were able to put our daughter to bed and still enjoy hanging out in the living area without bothering her downstairs. Each bedroom had a TV, so it was great for having a couple in each room for some privacy and relaxing. There is a great trail and creek behind the condo that was really fun to explore and meander, especially for our young daughter. Lake Tahoe is a short walk away, and there is a grocery store just a few miles away.

I read the reviews on this home and think some of the reviewers did not read the previous reviews or were expecting to stay at the Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton. The pros for this unit. Was the pictures adequately describe the unit? Absolutely. The hot water runs out since it is a 40 gallon tank. For the cost of a new low volume shower head, the amount of hot water could be extended. We had two 13 year old girls and parents in the home. The washer dryer did its job but be aware, it hogs hot water too. Once you realize you could shower, soap up and then rinse, the unit had plenty of hot water. But it would be cozy for 10 unless everyone had 5 minute showers. The two bathrooms are very nice but 40 gallon hot water heater just cannot make enough hot water for everyone.
It would be nice for the range fan to work. I would just buy a new fan but it looks like the unit is a bit worn. If you are just going skiing, the place is great. Not much of a view but convenient to many North Lake Tahoe ski areas. The kitchen was very functional and you had to realize that you were at 6200 feet. Boiling water and cooking needed to be adapted. The toaster burned things on the lowest setting.
If you are looking for a good basic home with excellent wifi and tv, comfortable beds and a 70s decor, this is the place for you. If you are looking for an updated home with current equipment, this is not the place for you. The heater is located on the second of three floors. The first having 3 bedrooms with either a queen or king size bed and a loft or 3rd floor with 4 beds. The electric blankets allowed you to keep the heater low. I think they had minimal insulation in the walls as the heater would go off every 15 minutes at night. Also, do not run the dishwasher at night as the house shakes. Run it just before you leave to go skiing. Run it at night, and it will be difficult to sleep even with the best of insulation.

Great value. A little worn. great for kids or a couple of families. Good cooking utensils. I would recommend the place and also come back here again. It is well priced but do not expect a Four Seasons expectation..

This property is spacious and conveniently located, but needs some improvement.

There was some type of flying insect infestation in the unit, meaning that once the unit got warm we found ourselves swatting away and squashing flying insects much of the day.

Also be aware the the unit doesn't have the right size water heater for the number of beds--people will need to wait to take their shower.

Furniture is good, appliances and pots and pans definitely have their better days pretty far behind them.
Manager response:
We apologize for the inconveniences this guest experienced while staying here. The Property Manager has used a bug bomb to take care of the pests, pots and pans have been double-checked for usability, and the owner has been advised of the comment regarding the water heater.

On our first morning, the kitchen counter GFI outlet tripped and apparently needed to be replaced. I went to the office and Hector came right over. He confirmed the outlet needed to be replaced. He returned shortly with an extension cord that could accommodate the microwave and assured us the electrician would be there the next day. Three days later and no electrician was ever seen. We had to make coffee and toast in the living room. We had read in reviews from a couple years ago that the water heater was inadequate. It definitely still is. The upstairs bathroom was extremely difficult to operate. The shower handle that you use to select water temperature is very difficult to pull out. We were afraid the whole plumbing was going to pop through the tile. Finally, the furnace is crazy. Clearly other people have complained because there were many tips on how to alleviate the problem. The furnace is loud and overheats some areas but leaves other areas cold. We adapted as best we could to the issues and had a good time but definitely will not return.

Was glad this place was available over President's weekend. It was 20 minutes from Diamond Peak for skiing. The kitchen had all the essentials. There was enough beds and a large dining table to accommodate us. A couple things needed to be repaired: vent over the stove didn't work and the upstairs shower did not work well. All 10 of us had to share the downstairs shower! All in all, this place is cozy and we enjoyed our stay!

Good complex with small sauna close to lake and forest. Condo is furnished well and cozy, however Gas Fireplace switch was not working we were not able to turn it on. Appliances are old. Bedsheets and towels are old and grey.

Had a very pleasant stay here. Well maintained property, except for a few appliances like kitchen exhaust acting up. But, nice place.. will stay again.
Akeida L. Aug 2016
This condo had many great features. The kitchen was well stocked and the big table fit lots of people comfortably. The upstairs loft says that it sleeps four, but the two trundle beds can't be pulled out all the way due to space issues, so really there are feasibly three beds up in the loft.
Suzan B. Aug 2016
This condo is very dated in decor. The curtains are ill-fitting and dowdy. Stuck in the 1970s.

Carnelian Bay is very commercial. No lake view or beach access from the condo. Would not stay here again.
Emmanuel Y. Jul 2016
For those looking for an appropriately price point for a Tahoe summer getaway this is one for consideration. Lake access, stores and restaurant convenience all within a short throw. A good spot for quiet reflection.
Wesley P. Jul 2016
Great place for a great deal. There are a couple fine beaches maybe 10 minutes away on either side. The condo is quaint and has sufficient amenities, the kitchen is a little small but certainly gets the job done. Overall I would highly recommend this venue
Bridgette C. Feb 2016
It was clean, spacious, comfortable and a great location
Alma Z. Feb 2016
We had good time on carmelian bay . The condo was clean., nice., quite. We had bad experiences with hot water is not enough for 10 people, the fireplace didn't work and bad internet.
Celine G. Feb 2016
The location is good. Thrre are 3 ski stations in the surroundings, few restaurants. We still needed to drive everywhere but overhaul the location is good.
The office needs to be more responsive and need to include a map as this place is very difficult to find.

I was SUPER disappointed on the hot water. There was 10 of us and none of us could take a decent shower. The first night we got there my nephew was sick and needed a warm shower. Took a pretty short shower and when the next one tried to go in ,there was NO HOT water. SO i called my vacasa contact to ask and NO ONE returned my call. I do property management for rentals my self and as a manager i am available for ANYTHING at ANY TIME whether is a simple question and or big issue. Whit that said, i went around to "try to resolve issue ,but didn't see anything obvious. My brother in law saw the NEXT morning that there is a "tiny sign" inside the shower saying about the 40gallons issue. If i would of seen that in an obvious place it would of made sense. AND if i would of seen that in the reservation and or on line right away ,then i would of paid a little more to go to a different house. I am more disappointed about the lack of response from any one. I had also called around 5:00 that we where lost and no calls at all. In total i called 2 times and no one called me back. Even thou i liked the house and the location, it's hard to recommend the house w/a LARGE party like us. Hard to say ,but Will probably not go back. :( Sorry.
Manager response:
We are very sorry to see that you did not receive a response during your stay; we have been short-staffed, but we are actively hiring and training more agents so that we can be more effective in assisting our guests.

loved our stay! the kitchen had just what we needed. the place was clean, beautiful and quiet... very quiet and peaceful... loved looking in the living room and looking out at the beautiful forest!.. our family would definately go back... and next time bring some friends!
Olga V. Jul 2014
We loved staying in this home. Clean, roomy. Great decor. There were some extras left by others for cooking in the pantry such as spices, oils, etc. Loved having washer and dryer access. We loved the access to the lodge. We went to Sandy beach (no parking fee) great for the kids as well as King's beach- $10 parking fee. Tahoe city just a short drive, nice shops. If you are buying mugs as gifts, I recommend the local market. Much cheaper than the shops. The entire family had a great time. We plan to come back!
Manager response:
Thank you for your great suggestions! We hope you can return soon!
Anne Marie S. Feb 2014
We stayed with two families: 4 adults and 3 girls. We skied Northstar. It was a reasonable drive. The condo was pretty good. Front door key stuck regularly. The hot water heater could have been better. The heat was very uneven in the unit.

HOWEVER: we booked late in the season, the beds were basically comfortable, washer/dryer worked, as did all of the appliances. The place was quiet. Price was good as well.

Overall, no big complaints. We worked out the issues, it's a rental. Good skiing for beginners at Northstar and great views driving to and from the resort of the lake.
Manager response:
Hi, thank you for your good review, we are working on the heating issues with the interior and water systems in order to make our future guests as comfortable as possible! Thank you again for your helpful feedback
Regina C. Dec 2013
This was a cute condo with plenty of room for 10 guests. Nice area, and it was very home like. I will definitely be back again. The Vacasa staff were very helpful and on top of it.
Manager response:
We are happy that everything worked out so well for you and your guests. Please come see us again soon at this fantastic home.

We enjoyed our stay. Carnelian Bay is a quiet town with a Safeway just up the road. It is close enough to Tahoe City where all the tourism and action is, but far enough away to be more peaceful. The cabin was very quiet for our stay in September. It was clean and comfortable with plenty of amenities.
Maria F. Sep 2013
We booked a property last minute for a Labor Day vacation. Townhouse is very tastefully decorated. Great location. Nice club house, clean pool, spa. Hiking trail starts right from the back of the complex. Very good value for the price.
Qun L. Aug 2013
About 10min. walking to Lake, very nice beach, can rent Kayak, pedal boating... Really fun. The recreation center, swimming pool and hot tubs are very nice, games inside too, kids love there.

Enjoyed our stay at Carnelian Woods. Great Tahoe location and the pool/ clubhouse area beautiful. Vacasa rental co. was a pleasure to work with and we would use their services again.

We enjoyed a long weekend at this townhouse and it was just as advertised. It is not a huge condo but our large party was quite comfortable. In the beginning the staff quickly took care of a few minor problems. I would recommend this rental and would stay here again. You are close to the beach, restaurants, tennis courts, and other places of interest. Great location.
