Dog-friendly home w/ gorgeous river views, a deck, patios, and a treehouse!

Admire panoramic views of the Columbia River and the Gorge at this three-bedroom Hood River retreat, a secluded and dog-friendly home with an expansive deck, a private exercise room, and a stunning piece of wooded property with patios, a yard, and a custom treehouse.

This two-level home is beautifully situated one mile east of historic Mitchell Point, providing guests with nearby access to one of the most scenic trails in the Columbia River Gorge. It offers a wonderfully tranquil atmosphere for families, couples, and wildlife enthusiasts, yet it is also just a short five-mile drive from downtown Hood River.

The large picture windows are the focal point of the living space, offering spectacular views of the river, passing boats, and the mountains across the water in Washington. Come home from a day of hiking to play board games on one of the soft leather sofas, or read a book in this comfortable air-conditioned space.

Prepare homemade breakfasts and afternoon snacks in the full kitchen, where you'll find an open floor plan, new appliances (including a dishwasher), and access to a gas grill on the patio outside the door.

And although there is plenty of space around the indoor dining table, you'll want to spend each and every day in the gorgeous outdoors. Set the table for an al fresco meal on the deck, cool off under a canopy of trees on the patio, or watch your kids play in the fantastic tree house. Your dogs are also welcome here, but please note that the yard is not enclosed and that a small nightly fee applies.

Begin each morning with an aerobic workout in the fitness room, where you'll find a ballet bar and a selection of hand weights. And end each evening in one of the two living rooms, browsing the WiFi or watching the flatscreen TV.

This three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom home will accommodate as many as seven guests. On the upper level, you'll find a master suite with a queen-size bed and an en suite bathroom with a walk-in shower.

The basement level features one bedroom with a queen-size bed and access to a patio, as well as a bedroom with a set of twin bunk beds and a futon. You'll also find a private laundry room and a half-bath on the lower level, and a second full bathroom in the upstairs hallway.

Whether you're interested in boating, hiking, cycling, or windsurfing, you'll find it all in and around Hood River. The 1.3-mile ascent of the Mitchell Point Trail just two miles west offers some of the most beautiful views in the Gorge, while Starvation Creek State Park offers challenging trail access to the summit of Mt. Defiance only 10 miles west.

And with downtown Hood River just a few miles down Highway 84, you can easily take a windsurfing lesson on the Columbia River, pick apples and pears along the Hood River Fruit Loop, or sample the local microbrews at Full Sail, Double Mountain, and Pfriem.

Begin planning your scenic outdoor escape - this Hood River home will be a favorite for years to come!

Big gathering spaces, kitchen for multiple cooks, beautiful grounds. Noise from adjacent highway would be bothersome in good weather with doors and windows open but isn't as obvious in colder, rainy weather. Wonderful location for cousin rendezvous :-).

We loved the homeyness and spaciousness of this home. The views from the picture windows and deck are beautiful. Close in the PDX so a weekend getaway is easy.

Private location close to Hood River.
Kitchen was fully furnished.
Beds were comfortable.

Great views of the river!

Nice and clean in a private location.

This was a great home with all amenities. We stayed with our adult children and had a great relaxing time. Well equipped and the laundry was handy. The view was super and all was neat and tidy.

This house has lots of room to spread out and enjoy some relaxing time. Great kitchen, nice deck and super view. House is pretty remote, which can be good or bad, but isn’t too far from Hood River. Highway noise is a little bothersome when out on the deck.

Great location comfortable nice view

Mitchell Point is a large comfortable home. Obviously once a family home it is well furnished. The kitchen has all you need except stools for the counter and placemats or a tablecloth to protect the lovely dining room table during meals. Eating out on the deck was great for the views of the river and the cliffs on the Washington side. The Freeway noise was definite but not overwhelming and not noticeable at all inside the house. We were excited about the tree house but it was somewhat disappointing as you had to trudge through the brush to get there and it was in marginal condition. We enjoyed Hood River. Discovery Museum and Maryhill so the location was perfect, close enough but in a natural forested setting.

Enjoyed the stay. Was a good experience overall.

Things that could have been better -
WiFi could have been a lot better. Sending out an email took ages, watching something on Netflix had more intermittent pauses. Shower in the bathroom wasn't working.
Called up the Vacasa helpline for this property, waited for 45 minutes and eventually cut the call.

However, they were not major hindrances in having a nice time at the property but they are things that can be improved on.

Would recommend this property!

All around, this home was exactly what we were looking for.

This place has an easy to access location with a beautiful view. The only minor drawback is that the water heater could not support our needs. Just a small gripe, but it’s worth an upgrade!

This rental is conveniently located 5-6 minutes from Hood River City Center. It's surprisingly spacious, and the views of the Gorge from the 2 living rooms and the front deck are truly beautiful. It's well equipped and well stocked. We would definitely rent this again if staying near Hood River.

Negatives: While there was plenty of room in Bedroom 2 for a King bed, there was only a double--not big enough for 2 adults. And, the bunk room could easily accommodate 4 bunks, while there are only 2. With 3 full baths, this rental could easily accommodate 8 people with more and bigger beds. Also, we were delighted to see 2 gas fireplaces, but very disappointed to learn that we were not allowed to use them. The owners store lots of "stuff" in this rental in cabinets, closets, and other storage spaces. There's enough storage space that this isn't a huge problem, but just don't like to see so much junk in closets & drawers. With the addition of a hot tub and bigger & more beds, this place would be awesome!

We were very pleased with the house and surrounding area. It was nice to be in such a spacious home with all the comforts and beautiful views. I could take nice long walks. I was surprised that even though the house is above the river and highway, you can still hear the highway. The gardens around the house were delightful and peaceful. We didn't have any young children with us, but if you did, I know they would love the tree house!

any where you look there is something natural and beautiful to look at, the trees, the river, mountains sun rise and sunset. All in a location that is 2 minutes away from entrance to the freeway e.g. to portland or the Dalles.

Beautiful view with tons of privacy. Fun for all ages in a very spacious home.

Overall we enjoyed our stay but some maintenance issues could be addressed to make it really top-notch.

We had a lovely three days enjoying views of the Columbia River. This is a great home to share with another couple/family. My husband and I traveled there with our friends who have two small boys. The space was perfect to accommodate all of us. House is located just outside of hood river in a secluded woodsy area, which allows for lots of privacy. We really appreciated how nice the house was without being too fancy. It was truly a home. Internet could be spotty at times, but that was not an important factor for us as we were looking to enjoy the beautiful weather and surroundings of hood river. If we wanted to watch Netflix, we would stay at home :-). The kitchen is large and well laid out. Just make sure to realize that the countertop by the oven is not granite. We could tell guests before us had made this mistake. We would definitely stay here again.

Private property, great view of gorge, but house is in disrepair. Advertisied features such as jetted tub, gas grill, cable TV, telescope either not working or not there. Scraped, scratched, chewed door frames. Gouged paint on walls. Dead bugs on carpet & floors. Trash overflowing at top of driveway which is the first thing you see as you drive up to house. House is in disrepair!! Will never return.
Manager response:
We apologize for the disappointments this guest experienced. The description has been updated to reflect the current state of the tub (non-functioning jets) and to advise the home does not have cable. The gas grill is located just off the kitchen on the patio. The bugs and trash have been removed. Thank you!

We wound up in this home as a last minute replacement for another location that was damaged in the big windstorm the weekend before our reservation. At first I was mildly disappointed because the other location had a hot tub, and this one does not, but the view is so phenomenally beautiful that I was immediately relieved and so glad we wound up here! The bed in the master bedroom is soooo comfy, and I slept like a baby. We had such a wonderful stay, and hope to be back again sometime.

We stayed with the full seven guests and had a good experience, the house is big, but sparcely furnished. I suspect this is to stem the temptation to bring more people into the house than the maximum (7). The master bedroom and bath are incredible, with picture window views of the gorge, similar to the other top floor rooms. There are no blinds or curtains in the master bedroom, so if you want to sleep in after it gets light, you may find it a little annoying.

The setting is beautiful, and the house feels remote even though you're close to the freeway and only a few miles from Hood River. We got conflicting info on the web regarding the downstairs bedroom. It turns out it is a double bed, not a queen. The room is plenty big enough for a bigger bed, but a double does not work well for two people. The bunks and futon are ok, and the king bed in the master is very nice.

The kitchen is very big and we have no complaints there. My only other suggestions to the management would be to add a tv or two in the house (for those rainy days) and to make sure the satellite tv is actively working. All we could get was preview channels, although the Netflix did work, once you figure out which remotes to use (there are about six or seven remotes in the entertainment cabinet). The house could use some lamps, rather than rely completely on overhead lighting. The jetted tub didn't work while we were there and we couldn't get the bedroom fireplace to fire up, but the living area fireplace worked very well.

It sounds like a lot of complaints, but really we loved the house and the location and will likely be back. Most everything did work just fine and the house has been well updated, and you can't beat the location. We were there four days, so we appreciated the washer dryer. The internet was quite adequate, movies streamed on Netflix without a problem.
Manager response:
The bed size has been corrected on our listing; we apologize for the error and any inconvenience it may have caused our guests. The home does not have cable/satellite (nor is it advertised), but there is access to Netflix streaming. Thanks!

What a great house! My whole family were able to come visit and stay. We were all comfortable and were able to enjoy each other. We will be back

Beautiful house with an amazing view.

It was great to be so close to Hood River but have such a nice view and private location (freeway access only). We definitely needed 4WD to get up the driveway - the snow was plowed when we got there but it was still slick. 45 minutes to skiing was a breeze.
Great collection of books and games. We made good use of the kitchen - I love it when there are nice knives and cutting boards!
Holly W. Dec 2016
The view is spectacular from every single room. We were there at Christmas so we weren't outside much though the grounds and decks looked nice. The house is very very spacious including the kitchen, though not very cozy and sparsely furnished. The house is in good repair and is exactly as represented.
Julia T. Oct 2016
The spacious home, surrounding woods and gorgeous view will bring us back. There was plenty! of space for the 5 of us, and the view was wonderful. Thank you for providing a lovely, well-equipped home!
James T. Oct 2016
This was a beautiful property with an amazing view.
Lots of room for everyone to spread out.
It was clean and we are were all very comfortable and enjoyed it.
Loved the privacy of the location and the management was very responsive with questions and anything we needed.
I would definitely come back.
Amanda K. Oct 2016
The kitchen was poorly stocked. Hood River is wine country and there were only 2 wine glasses for a house that sleeps 7. There were only 4 coffee cups and the dishware and cookware was in poor condition. There is a bar counter in the kitchen but no bar stools. The house has a beautiful view but the deck only had 4 chairs. Again, the house is advertised as being equipped for 7 guests so should have furniture and supplies for 7 guests. The TV/Cable had no local channels and primarily shopping channels and channels or channels where you could rent porn which I thought was very inappropriate. Also the DVD and CD player did not work and there were no instructions anywhere on how to operate them or how to operate anything in the house. While the bathrooms were clean, the house in general did look well maintained. There were cobwebs and dead spiders in corners of floors, stairs and ceilings. The water pressure in the main hall bathroom is very poor and there was not enough hot water.
Manager response:
The Property Manager has added enough wine glasses and coffee cups for the maximum occupancy in the home. All outdoor furniture has been put away for the upcoming winter season, but we will look into additional outdoor seating for the summer. Both DVD players are working, and there are instructions in the home binder for any guests that need assistance. The home has a traditional residential hot water heater of 50 gallons that works well. The home will have received its fall deep clean by the end of October so any spots that are being missed will soon be addressed fully. Thank you!
Jonathan C. Oct 2016
Great house, secluded but close to everything you need. Our stay included a visit from deer in the front yard one evening as well!
Chelsea G. Sep 2016
Late evning we saw a storm come in and the moon was incredibly full. Relaxing in your yard watching the clouds roll in was one of the most beautiful nights of my summer. Truly beautiful.
I noticed alot of poison oak so i did make note of that.
We were there for a wedding and having a bath tub for the bride was without a doubt a real treat. Thank you and we will be back!

Gary T. Sep 2016
Enjoyed the stay.

Unique location but road noise is apparent. Location is tricky to get to because of access only from I 84 eastbound. The property is nice but could use a few tweaks to make it better. I don't think it has been a rental property for long and this could be why they did not have the regular amenities that normal rentals have. For example, there were no house instructions for TV or WIfi.

Everything worked is the house and I would recommend it for a larger group. The house and property are very spacious.

We enjoyed our stay very much. We can't wait to return!
Romit B. Sep 2016
Place is beautiful.. perfect for a large group... safeway/walmart is pretty close for grocery shopping... located close to highway exit... clean and well maintained with lots of books, board games and a piano around.
