Charming vintage house w/ tranquil garden, just two blocks from the beach!
With its eclectic mixture of 1950s architecture and personalized decor, your stay in this charming one bedroom Neskowin vacation rental will show you why this little coastal burg has a big reputation for peace, tranquility, and natural beauty. A mere two blocks from the beach, this unique vacation home - with its bottle-cap mosaic on the kitchen table, wood-burning fireplace, and big deck - will endear you to its unique atmosphere and make you feel right at home.
Come inside! The blue entrance door with distressed finish tells you that this is a special place. The interior is filled with vibrant colors set against a wood-paneled ceiling, with memorabilia that softens the otherwise modern architecture. Toss another log in the wood fireplace, its multi-tiled facade is probably unlike any fireplace you've seen. While you're basking in the warmth of the fire, enjoy a DVD or simply plan your upcoming day in Neskowin. On a nice evening, you can head out to the outdoor fire pit, spin some tales, and roast some marshmallows in the cool coastal air.
The line of sea-themed tableaus above the fully equipped kitchen reminds you, this is a place by the sea. On evenings you do stay in for meals, you'll have a refrigerator, stovetop/oven, and lots of counter space in this cute kitchen to turn out delicious vacation meals. And while there's no dishwasher, you can just let the dishes soak while you finish up the last of the wine or head down to the beach for a stunning sunset. And don't forget, meals can be enjoyed at the colorful bottle top table, plus there's also a breakfast bar for snacks.
When it's time to turn in, the bedroom of this Oregon Coast vacation rental has a queen sized bed and a whole bunch of country-like charm. There's also a twin rollaway bed in the closet for even more sleeping options, as well as a sleeper sofa in the living room. A family of up to five can definitely sleep comfortably here!
From the decorative tile-filled full bathroom to the high efficiency washer and dryer, this Neskowin home has style, charm, and all the comforts of home. Outside - past the big deck with comfortable chairs and a gas grill where you can spend a lazy afternoon - is the tiny and quiet town of Neskowin. A good golf game is just around the corner at Neskowin Marsh Golf Course. But maybe before you tee-off, grab the camera and experience the real reason to come to the beautiful beach town of Neskowin.
Flanked on one side by lush green forests on one side, and the majestic Pacific on the other, both forest and water offer myriad things to do, and memorable sites just waiting to be he star of your vacation photos. Take, for instance, Proposal Rock, a tree-lined basalt sea-stack with its own unique history. Or, check out the Ghost Forest where you'll find a cluster of mysterious, centuries old tree stumps. Some more great shots from your walk along Cascade Head Trail that wends around Neskowin and the surrounding area. And Nestucca Bay - a few minutes north - is a favorite place for water sports, so feel free to borrow the kayak and have an adventure.
Experience this one-of-a-kind Neskowin cottage and find out way the Oregon Coast is such a popular destination for vacationers from just about everywhere.
This is actually our second time at this location. We enjoyed it both times.
Its was such a great place! Awesome little town in a great area of the beach. The house had a feel of going on a trip to grandmas house with a great comfort to it... Would absolutely rent this again!!
We totally felt like we were at grandparents home! Loved the homey vibe, so unique ❤️❤️❤️
The cottage is close to the beach/ocean, quite convenient. The Darrs have humor in their décor and maintain their yard with natural plants and clever decorations. The cottage is clean and comfortable.
It's quaint, quirky cute.. Nice area close to the beach
Great location, nice garden and yard space, and obviously a well loved beach home. Loved the fun decor and had plenty of room for us three women. It’s a hoot!
We love Neskowin. Especially since it’s possible to stay for a whole weekend without having to get in the car to go anywhere. We enjoyed having everything we needed to cook meals, watch movies, and play games we brought with us. Things were mostly clean and the space was perfect for two people. We enjoyed the novelty of this cabin and would stay again.
My mom and I had a nice stay, loved the walkability of the neighborhood - to the beach, to the market, and to the cafe. Quirky home but comfortable, the backyard was awesome, we lucked out with some sunny days so we could sit outside and enjoy it.
We enjoyed our stay. However the home did not have the internet. Internet woudl have made it much better.
Super cute beach house! Tons of personality.
However the shower head was only tall enough for a 5 year old. Hopefully the owners change it to a hand held style so my 5'8" self can wash my hair without smacking my head multiple times.
The accommodation was more than what i expected. Your rental process was quick and easy
This little house is perfectly located to the beach and the store. It is decorated to the nines with funky interesting cool stuff everywhere....if you have a sense of fun this is the place for you!
We had our wedding in pacific city, stayed in this cottage. It was amazing had lots of room to have family stop in for a visit.. it was relaxing and very peaceful the neighborhood was very friendly, and short walk to the beach! Loved it!!!!!
Very nice home with so much to look at. So much artistic flair. Just when I thought I had seen everything I would notice one more cute wall hanging. I especially loved the conk shell with the stuffed crab crawling out of it. The home was clean and comfortable.
My family of four loves quirky things, we also love unique places, but one thing we couldn't get behind was outdated bedding and grandparent decor. I initally was excited by the actual house and location. Neskowin is a very charming town with picturesque beach homes and this house was very close to the beach.
RENTER BEWARE: The house is filled with dingy grandma decor/ tattered bedding and has a HANGING PIRATE(with a wig and knife in mouth) IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LIVING ROOM. The reason why I am accenting that part is because I didn't know that until after I booked and my kids were FREAKED!
COLD NIGHT: When we arrived the heat was not turned on and we spent a very cold day/night there trying to heat up the house with one heater located in the living room and no heat in the bedroom. I had to sleep with my jacket on....not even joking.
COULD BE BETTER STOCKED: We have stayed in many places at the coast and I would say that this one was the least stocked as far as things like cooking oil, sugar, salt, pepper. There were none of these so be prepared and expect nothing in any cabinets.
RENT IN THE SUMMER: It might be a nice place to stay in the Summer because you are outside a lot but if you are staying there during the wintery months, when you can't really go outside, get a better place that doesn't have a mannequin hanging in the center of the house.
The home decor is owner preference and clearly visible on the website's photos and 3D tour. If guests are disturbed by the decor, they are more than welcome to contact local staff to have it removed or covered up temporarily during their stay. Typically our staff turns on the wall heaters during inspection a few hours prior to guests arrival--we apologize this was not done for this reservation. Guests are always welcome to call in for local staff to bring space heaters and blankets if needed. There is also a wood burning fireplace that can provide ample heat and wood is available for purchase at the Neskowin Trading Post approximately 0.25 miles away from the home. Homeowners are not obligated to stock the home with cooking supplies; however, we will notify them none of these basic items are available and have them stocked prior to the next guest.
We had a really nice stay at the Darr House Cottage. We had friends over for dinner and we took a long walk on the beach. The living room had plenty of seating and everyone lo so quaint and quiet!
This would be a great spot in the summer to enjoy the over sized deck and beautifully landscaped yard.
A fun small house located in the heart of Neskowin, only a block plus to beach and the same to "downtown" Neskowiin--grocery story, restaurants, so very centrally located. Great deck and yard. Bed was very comfortable, as were furnishings. Very much the kind of beach cottage an average person might have, no fancy furnishings or granite but very comfortable!
This house is fun, super close to beach. I like the easy access to the 101, and to the beach. Fun little house.
Can't wait to book it again.
Not worth the money, too many issues, shower for short people, refrigerator smelled bad, dryer not working. To much personal stuff, to much high dust.
Great place. Very quiet.
No mosquitoes or annoying flies.
You need to do groceries 10 miles before you get here. There's a store but very expensive.
A very enjoyable place to stay, with lots of character. I hope they replace the deck furniture soon.
This place is quirky and fun. If you're looking for super modern or luxurious, this isn't it. This is beach side, water life, live with a sense of humor style.
My partner and I had a lovely quiet weekend at this cottage. The location is unbeatable, less than a minute walk to the beach. The cottage itself was the perfect size for us. Open but not too big. There was a cute little town center within walking distance as well where we enjoyed a nice breakfast. Our only complaint was the life sized hanging pirate that was hanging from the living room ceiling. We found it quite terrifying to walk into that but we were able to ignore "Captain Jack" after awhile. The kitchen could be a little more stocked as well, only one pan to cook on, but not a big deal. Overall great experience and location.
Neskowin is a lovely little town, and the whole area is beautiful. The house is spacious, as well as the deck and the garden. You can decide from the photos if you mind the many personal items that will surround you (we were not crazy about them, but did not mind). What we, however, found really disappointing were the amenities in the kitchen and the bathroom. A little investment would go a long way: New cutlery, a real frying-pan, a hair-dryer etc. Some of the furniture (especially on the deck) is very worn and old. Only stools (and no real chairs) around the dining table also are uncomfortable after two days.
We apologize that kitchen utensils and seating are currently lacking at this home; the owner is aware and plans on replacing these items in the near future. We apologize that we do not have a current time frame in which to expect these improvements, and we greatly appreciate our guests' patience with the matter.
My kids & i enjoyed our trip the house was fine but i would not stay in it again just seemed like they didnt put any money or time back into the house to make it nice for guests!
We enjoyed three days in Neskowin. The beach is so beautiful and the neighborhood is charming and fun to explore. The house was comfortable and fit our family of five nicely. We liked the large back deck and the yard, too. The house and furnishings are older and quirky. The life-size hanging pirate was a bit much but we got used to it!
We enjoyed our stay in this house. It was nice to be so close to the beach and in such a nice, quiet town. Everyone we came talked to was very nice and there were some good choices at the store/deli around the corner. The kitchen was very well stocked with utensils and most everything else needed to prepare and cook food. The town was close to other tourist areas, but at the end of the day, we were very happy to come back to the house and little town.
This cottage was very interesting. Very eclectic and artsy in its own way. The pirate in the main room was a little scary to the children who slept out there. The pictures in the ad make it look like a rope swing for fun, but it wasn't. I enjoyed the pirate story history, which the owners had typed up. The beach was close and just wonderful for finding shells, going into the water and jogging the long stretch. The neighborhood was just wonderful with many flowers and even deer that came to visit. The backyard was spacious with a fire pit and again very interesting with knicknacks and mature foliage on the plants.
I'm not sure I would recommend this to anyone without preparing them for what they might find. Also, the bedding was so worn it was difficult to tell how clean they were. The kitchen had little to no spices, oils etc. Be prepared to bring everything. It did have enough cooking pans, baking items and utensils.
My boyfriend and I went to get away for the weekend. It was a cozy, romantic place to be. We loved the house, the room and yard.
Lack of WiFi makes business travel extremely difficult.
We loved the beach house. We noticed that the propane tank was empty and we were thrilled that Vacasa rental was able to send someone to replace it on the same day. Our family had a great time bonding closer together. Thank you!!
The Darrs obviously are full of fun and they share their enthusiasm in every detail of the house and garden. It's so funny and so wonderful!
We really enjoyed our stay at Darrs Beach House. It was relaxing and comfortable, close to the beautiful beach and not far from Pacific City and Lincoln City. The beach house is homely and welcoming, and had all the amenities we needed for a great winter break.
Great location our family was walking distance away our friends and family.
First, Neskowin is darling and charming. Perfect calm environment and beautiful stretch of beach. The location of Darr's Cottage is right in the heart. The cottage itself is quirky , unique and like gramma's cottage with representation from multi generations loved on between it's walls and in the yard. NOW FOR THE DOWNSIDE - it's not YOUR gramma's. If you are a VRBO frequenter, you know that most houses are appointed to welcome and accommodate guests. This cottage gives the distinct feeling you are more of an inconvenience than a welcomed guest and the distinct impression that behind the multiple locked cabinets and doors are the linens and cookware saved FROM renters FOR owners. Even the closets that were not locked had owners shoes and clothes in them. Kinda weird feeling. The linens were circa 1970 as were the bed and pillows - no joke. A coil electric blanket without a cord that I swear my nana bought new in 1970. The bakeware had multiple generations of carcinogens baked on and the BBQ ....nope. I was very glad my kids brought their own favorite blankets because the couches are....well loved on too, and the "spare" linen...not going to happen. There were so many family teddy bears and trinkets on all the surfaces that it was kinda hard to find places to put your own things and not get it lost in the stuff. Definitely could use a good deep cleaning and purging. All this said, would we rent there again? Maybe. It is charming like I said, in a gramma but not your gramma kinda way. I would definitely suggest your own sheets, blankets, pillows, a few cook ware pieces, your own sponge and maybe a hibachi if you like to grill. It is a nice location in a great little town and the neighbors were delightful. So was community. If you are up for adventure, this is a good place to start.
Thank you for taking the time to share your review with us. We agree that this charming cabin is in a fantastic location for a family vacation. We will definitely pass your feedback about the linens and cookware to our local staff so that we can look into making improvements. We hope you'll come stay again!
Had short walk to beach, nice little store and café close by. Everyone in town very friendly. Golf course was even within walking distance with club rentals. Had a wonderful time and would come back to Neskowin in the future.
We loved the cottage and we also loved the fact that Neskowin wasn't touristy or trendy, just a nice, laid back community filled with very friendly people. The beach is lovely and the cottage very comfortable. We plan to return again and hopefully can stay longer!
It was our first time to Neskowin and we didn't know what to expect. What a pleasant surprise! We loved the little sleepy town and the beautiful quaint beach area. We've ventured out to check out Pacific city and Lincoln city for a day. The location is perfect for everything! The house itself was great as well. It is nice, cosy and clean. Our dog loved the back yard as much as we did. I've already recommended this place to my friends and we'll definitely come back! Thanks again!
Thank you this great review! We are always pleased to hear when guests are so happy with the home and location they stayed in that they pass it on to friends and family. It's wonderful that you enjoyed the area and this cozy home. We hope you'll visit again.
Had a great time. Short walk to beach. Fenced back yard for our little dogs. Lincoln City and Pacific City a short drive away. Wonderful Cafe within walking distance.
We loved the quiet beauty of Neskowin and the coziness of Darr's Beach House. We had hard-driving rain and sand-filled wind most of the weekend, but we enjoyed playing cards by the fire, watching the Olympics, cooking in, and bundling up to venture out. The beach house has lots of touches that make it welcoming, the wood fireplace was wonderful, the bed very comfortable. We had everything we needed for a quiet weekend away.
I would stay again. Very peaceful & beautiful. Loved the decor.
The beach colors and all of the ocean memorabilia added a nice touch. Although we couldn't see the ocean, we could hear it, and we could see the coastal fog on the cliffs to the south. Great price for location.
