In full view of the scenic Salmon River, this Welches vacation lodge invites up to 12 guests to kick back in a lovely wooded location far from city congestion. Perfect for large families, your whole group will enjoy top-notch comforts, including an outdoor hot tub, an amazing game room, which includes a TV, and quick access to fishing, hiking, skiing, and golfing.
Tucked into a quiet neighborhood and surrounded by towering Douglas fir, western red cedar, and moss-laden hemlock trees, the home's woodland location is perfect for a quiet weekend away from the city or an extended stay to catch up on plenty of rest and relaxation. Plus, it's just down the street from the Three Nines Golf Course, as well as a trailhead with hikes in the Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness, and skiing and snowboarding are just a short drive away at Skibowl (13 miles west), Timberline (20 miles west), and Mt. Hood Meadows (25 miles west).
A classic mountain home with wilderness-themed decor, sturdy wood furniture, and an updated log cabin aesthetic, you'll find a stay here to be inviting and comfortable. Enjoy a cozy afternoon nap alongside a warm fire in the living area's custom stone hearth, or flip on the cable- and DVD-equipped flatscreen TV and gather your family for some group bonding. Settle into the luxurious brown leather sectional, or admire the backyard views from the adjacent microfiber couch. Warm, sunny days are best spent on the expansive backyard deck, where you'll find exceptional views of the trickling river just beyond the property and two glass-top tables for al fresco dining.
Speaking of dining, whip up fresh, home-cooked meals in the spacious kitchen. Modern appliances, a variety of cookware, and ample counters will assist in your culinary conquests. And when meals are ready, sit down to eat together at the adjacent six-chair dining table or at the breakfast bar with seating for two. In the mood for a barbecue? Just use the gas grill.
After filling your bellies, fill your time with some fun post-meal activities, including foosball or poker in the game room, which also has a wall-mounted flatscreen, a comfortable red leather sectional couch, a bar area, and access to the backyard. You could also throw on your swimsuit and head out of the room's sliding glass doors to wind down in the covered hot tub. Make sure to also spend some time along the backyard hiking path, where you can pause for wildlife views and listen to the sounds of nature from a wrought iron bench overlooking the river.
When it's time to call it a day, retire for a great night's sleep in any of five bedrooms (one has a TV), which will accommodate up to 12 guests. King-size beds sit in every bedroom except one that has one queen-size and two twin-size beds. With modest furnishings like dressers, reading lamps, and shaded windows, the bedrooms give you the opportunity to focus on what's important: getting deep, restorative sleep.
Wake up refreshed and ready for new adventures. Pick out a clean pair of clothes from a recent load of laundry in the washer/dryer, update your social media using the WiFi, then head out for more fun in the wilderness wonderland just beyond your doors.
You'll certainly find plenty of hikes just steps from your doors, but if your aching muscles need some attention first, plan a trip to the Spa at Mt. Hood for a high quality massage. Take a 14-mile drive east to grab a hearty country breakfast at the Huckleberry Inn (don't forget to sample the delicious marionberry pie!) and walk through the small village in Government Camp, or simply stay home and enjoy your luxurious rental.

Beautiful house! We had a family reunion and found it very clean and well equipped in an excellent location.
This property was big enough for our large group. It had everything we needed. We would love to stay again!
Large cabin with very well equipped kitchen, game room and river view. Terrific for a large group, with five bedrooms.
Awesome communal space perfect for game nights or group dinners. Beds and sofas were beyond comfortable. TV's (with cable!) in every room so not a single football game was missed. 10/10 would stay again for a relaxing fall getaway.
This home had everything. Very well built and maintained. The home manager was great and had everything ready for us even though we arrived a bit early. Fireplace in the great room and the hot tub were used to get warm after long days of hiking in the area. Kitchen was very well stocked. We loved having the game room to play in on rainy days. This is an exceptional home in a great area.
The place was gorgeous! Spotlessly clean & everything we needed. We had privacy but close to all necessities. The beds we're comfortable. It rained so we didn't get much time outdoors but the covered hot tub was super convenient. Cozy but spacious we loved staying here & will definitely be returning!
The house perfect for our needs. The kitchen is well appointed and had all we needed and more. The location is beautiful and the deck, hot tub, game room, and living room were all wonderful spaces to enjoy our time together. Plenty of space for our cars to park and get in and out without anyone having to move. We'll be back I hope!
The setting of this home along the Salmon River provided for a relaxing vacation in the forest. The home is lovely and it accommodated 12 women golfers comfortably. We've reserved it for the following year.
We had a nice, relaxing stay. The river and trees were a perfect setting for a quiet getaway.
The setting is amazing - right on the river. The listing is misleading as it's 2.5 bathrooms, not 3. With only two showers, it was chaos on the first night for the whole family to wait for showers to become available. The glass shower door on the 2nd floor shower is completely broken and we couldn't get it back on the track. It felt and sounded like it was going to fall off any time we opened/closed it. It was very annoying. The kitchen could use more dish towels - there were only a couple which was not enough for our family when cooking 3 meals/day in the house.
The few negatives did not hinder our trip too much and we still had a great time.
We apologize or the error in the listing and have corrected it to show the correct number of bathrooms. The shower door has been adjusted, and we have added more kitchen towels. Thank you!
Beautiful well kept home, the setting, the stream, and well stocked with kitchen items.
We had a great time in this home. The manager was great and responded to the concerns we had.
The location, the house, the amenities.. simply a fantastic home!
My family was visiting from Florida, and we wanted a nice cabin-like experience for their first trip to Oregon. The Salmon River Lodge fit our needs perfectly. Our 6 adults and 2 teenagers fit comfortably. Being right on the creek is amazing; we skipped many stones. Just 15-20 minutes from SkiBowl was awesome for our first ski outing. The cabin was very clean and well appointed; the game room/bar/den was a nice surprise! We would rent it again.
Well appointed, good space, with excellent ammenities, that was just far enough away from any neighbors. We were 6 guys and it did not feel cramped. The jacuzzi was great and we could see the river while we all sat in it. Fun times for adults and there was a hiking/biking trail (good in the snow) about a 4 minute drive/15 minute bike ride away.
The house was beautiful, liked having king beds in the majority of the rooms. Also loved the bigs windows with the outdoor setting with river.
Expansive house in the woods. Great access to Mt. Hood ski areas.
Quite the house for a small group weekend retreat!
We love how remote it was and being so close to the creek. Especially when we were outside using the hot tub, it was just a great space to be in. There was more than enough space for our party of 9. Would def choose this place again!
Large and comfortble home with something for everyone.
Hot Tub, game room, large TV for football playoffs, sking minutes away, store nearby for miscelaneous items, great beds, fantastic views, sound of river and healthy deer walking in view - always fun to see. Hate to go home.
Location: The cabin is in Welches, about 2 miles of windy road off the main highway. There was about 4 inches of fresh snow at the cabin during our stay, our 4WD SUV had no problems driving to/from the cabin to mountain, but our friends in their 2WD car needed chains. The location is absolutely stunning! Very beautiful. The cabin is set in the woods with a stream running right out back. It could not have been more beautiful! Perfect location, it was not hard for us to take our SUV out to diners around the area and the grocery store right up the road. Not a bad drive to the slopes.
The House: The house itself was also stunning and beautiful! Very well decorated and well supplied with anything we could need. The beds were very comfy and there were plenty of extra blankets and pillows. Very easy house to entertain children in and feed a large family!
One thing about the house, the front door is a keycode lock only with the deadbolt removed. This means we could not stop the door from opening from the inside, even when locked. Our curious 2 year old would constantly open the door and leave it ajar and run away, which was a bit annoying. It's a non issue to those without curious children though.
Minor Issues: There is a game room attached to the garage with a foosball table and a poker table. It's not on the main heat house, it had a propane stove that we could not get started, so the room was freezing and unusable which was a bit of a bummer.
We had a power outage there overnight into the next day so it was completely dark in the house (we did find flashlights eventually) and made breakfast quite tricky. Of course this isn't the property's fault just sort of a minor snag for the vacation. Luckily the gas fireplace kept the living room warm.
Vacasa: Check in/out was a breeze. When we first arrived we got an email from one of the Vacasa managers stating he hopes our stay is great and to call him if we needed anything, but then when we called, we just got a voicemail saying he wasn't working that weekend and to call the main Vacasa number. We called the main vacasa number to ask about the propane stove, but just got an answering machine and left a message, but never heard back from them the whole weekend. When we called about the power outage earlier, they were very friendly, but of course there wasn't anything they could do about it.
All in all it was a great stay and so beautiful even just walking around the property in the snow, we would love to come back!
We are sorry this guest was not able to utilize the game room because they could not start the propane stove. It was inspected prior to and after this reservation and was working both times. We sincerely apologize we missed calling this guest back.
This home was a perfect fit for our group. The game room & garage area was great for the youngsters to play & hang out. The open kitchen living area was very comfortable for cooking & visiting. Beds were all comfortable & had plenty of bedding.
Nice, spacious house for our group of 11. Plenty to do and lots of beautiful scenery. Closer to other nearby homes than I expected, but no one disturbed us and we didn't disturb them.
Beautiful, cozy home to away from the hustle of city. We really enjoyed the area. We did a lot of hikes, went fishing and went to Portland for the day. It was perfect to come back to a warm home and an even warmer hot tub. The beds were also super comfy and large!
The property manager was quick to respond to any issues we had. Great place to stay! I can’t wait to come back.
Very comfortable for 11 cousins to visit and play!
This house is an easy trip from Portland, yet still feels like a world away with the gurgling Salmon River in the backyard. The jacuzzi & game room, big screen TVs, full kitchen were the perfect setup to hang out over the weekend.
so quiet, very pretty stream out back for pictures or to play in. My 4 kids loved the place, too busy hiking and exploring the area amenities to fully enjoy the house. The best equipped kitchen, the most comfortable beds and great showers. What a wonderful find.
Our family enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It had everything a family needs to enjoy the outdoors and indoors!
We loved the river outback and the outside deck. The kids really enjoyed the activities provided in the house.
Terrific property and home. Great for large groups. The game room is essential!
We had several family members in our party staying in the area for a wedding weekend...this was a terrific way to spend time together rather than hotel accommodations.
Salmon River Lodge was beautifully appointed with everything we needed; spacious & comfy bedrooms, great family room & kitchen Kids loved the hot tub and game room. An excellent time had by all!
This was the perfect birthday getaway! Family from out of town got to experience the beauty of Mt Hood while staying in this beautiful, comfortable home.
The kitchen was very well equipped, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. We would absolutely stay here again!
This place is very beautiful clean and quiet. I hope to come here next year!!!
This was a beautiful home that accommodated our family over Christmas. The bedrooms were comfortable and nicely appointed. The beautiful river front was so serene and peaceful. Lots of room to spread out and take a nap or curl up on the couch in the main livong area in front of the wood burning stone fireplace to watch a movie or football. Wonderful time!
