Historic dog-friendly home near beach and golf and on an acre of meadow!

Originally built in 1892 (the very first home in Gearhart), this Gearhart vacation rental has been lovingly maintained and makes a wonderfully unique vacation getaway.

Perched on a full acre of grassy meadow ringed by old-growth pines, the home sits just three blocks from the beautiful sandy beach and only four from the shops and cafes of charming Gearhart.

The Latourette House has 2,500 square feet of unique living space. The sun-drenched living room has ample windows, along with a cozy wood-burning fireplace for chilly evenings. This is the ideal spot to settle in with a good book for a quiet afternoon, or break out one of the provided board games for a little healthy competition. There is even a day bed that can be used at night by a guest.

At mealtimes, you'll find the kitchen is equipped with all the modern conveniences of home, including a dishwasher, oven with stovetop, refrigerator, microwave, and coffeemaker. Adjacent to the kitchen, the formal dining room with antique light fixtures and a gorgeous hutch awaits your home-cooked breakfasts and leisurely dinners.

A door from the kitchen leads out to the patio, with a charcoal grill for summer barbecues. Outdoor seating nooks are scattered across the wraparound deck and throughout the grassy yard, and if you watch closely, you might spot a deer or elk wandering past!

With four bedrooms, three full baths, and a unique summer sleeping porch with netting instead of glass windows, this home has plenty of room for eight guests. The largest bedroom offers a queen bed, a second fireplace, and a cable TV with DVD player, along with a private door leading out to the wrap-around deck.

The second bedroom has a double bed, a third room has a twin bed, and the fourth bedroom offers two twins with another TV set. There are three full bathrooms, one with a beautiful soaking tub and two with walk-in showers.

The upstairs summer sleeping porch, enclosed by netting rather than glass windows, is a one-of-a-kind spot that our younger guests will love! Over the years, it has become a makeshift art gallery or family journal with names and memories from the past of when the owners were kids and growing up in the home. You are welcome to view the make-shift journal, but please do not add anything to it. Please note that while the beds are comfy and the linens warm, the space does not have heat—it is wonderful for summertime sleeping in the fresh air, but not suitable for colder weather.

The home even offers wireless Internet access and a washer/dryer, so it's wonderful for a working getaway or long-term stay. Dogs are welcome with an additional nightly fee, and please inquire for special arrangements to accommodate a wedding or large reunion!

This one-of-a-kind Northern Oregon Coast vacation home has welcomed families to beautiful Gearhart for decades! Will yours be next?

Very well kept. Loads of seating. Great place.

A handful of girlfriends stayed here for a weekend. This was the perfect house for us! Plenty of rooms, beds, and separation of space. The classic charm of this historic property made for a most memorable event. It was worth splurging a little!

For anyone who has lived in an old farmhouse this will bring back lovely memories. From the old creaky wood floors to the upstairs bedrooms full of character, this home offers all the warmth and charm one could ask for on a vacation. The screened in porch/bedroom is a fantastic place to sleep even in April! The kitchen is well stocked with an eclectic array of dishes including 2 vintage cast iron skillets. The linen was clean and there is ample space in the sitting room which is flooded with natural sunlight.
I highly recommend this to any family or a small group retreat gathering.

This home, over 100 years old was absolutely the best place for our spanish immersion experience. There were six of us but we could have fit 5 more people. The best part was the charming living room!

The weather did not cooperate. It rained most of the time. The house was large enough for all of us to be inside playing games and such. We still had a great time and loved seeing the old pictures and reading some history on the house. We would go again.

It was a nice quiet weekend. Would have liked to spend more time at the beach and have a good BBQ. We had to cook in the house because the little BBQ was dirty.

We had a great girl's weekend at the house! Perfect in every way.

This house is good for a larger group of people. It is very old, so expect the usual old house quirks. The upstairs doesn't get much heat . The lot is big with plenty of room for activities. People in the area regularly cut through the yard to get between streets, which was a nuisance since we had dogs who didn't like strangers wandering through the yard. The beach is a little farther than expected and once you get through the neighborhood there's a decent walk through dunes before you get to the water.

The strangest thing was that in the middle of our stay a man arrived at the door and said he was an owner and needed to get some things. He retrieved a couple shovels from the back room. It felt a little invasive having a stranger walk through the house when we were all in the midst of various activities. I think it would have been more appropriate to coordinate this visit with Vacasa, or wait a day until we checked out.

We enjoyed 5 nights here in March with a maximum of 9 people one night and a small dog. The house was great. Old farmhouse that seems to have been added onto over the years. The sunroom was a wonderful place to hang out with people playing games, reading and enjoying a nice fire. Beds were comfortable and the house was clean. The kitchen was well outfitted with lots of pots and dishes. There is a little town area about 2 blocks away with numerous coffee shops, a bakery, good restaurant, small grocery, art shop and candy store. The beach was about 4 blocks away and took a maximum of 10 minutes to reach. Overall I would definitely recommend this home and was very pleased with the service we got from staff at Vacasa.

My family from MN were visiting and the location was perfect for exploring the northern coast. Two couples Plus two singles and my goldendoodle had plenty of space. The kitchen was well stocked for our salmon feast and dining room large enough for several card games. The antique furnishings and decor make it so interesting and homey. You can just feel the history of the home. Our walk to the beach was just the right distance for a short workout and we were met by a herd of about 25 elk one evening right on the path....an awesome treat--but we Detoured! My doodle did run into a neighboring yard a few times as it is unfenced but there were no complaints. A fenced area would be great but we appreciate that such a wonderful property is pet friendly. Hoping to book another memorable visit there next year.

Nice Old House. I enjoy the age and ambiance of the older historic homes, creeks in the floor and all. When you rent this home at the beach you have to remember that some of the bathroom fixtures were added after the house was built, its that old. If your looking for a luxurious full tilt bathroom with all the amenities your in the wrong house, we did not have issues with the bathrooms, they small but its not where I like to spend a lot of time anyway. The kitchen was adequate, nice dining table, laundry room was appreciated.

What our family enjoyed most was the large sitting room. Lots of wicker chairs, rockers, lounges etc. Full windows for 360 degree viewing, even a fire place (that we did not use). Some of the family rented other properties/hotels but we all gathered at this home in the sitting room, 14 adults with 4 small children comfortably.

I would rent this property again, the only reason 4 stars instead of 5 is that for the cleaning fee that was charged the home was not cleaned to the level of the fee. In fact, for us that was the only drawback to the property, it should have been cleaner. I'm not complaining about the bathrooms, they were clean, kitchen generally ok, floors clean, but the cob webs and attention to the details of cleaning were lacking.

We loved the home and the proximity to the beach. We lost power to part of the house during our stay and it took 24 hours from the time we reported it for anyone to get back to us. By then I had fixed the problem but it wasn't how I wanted to spend my off time.

When I originally rented the house it was advertised as sleeping 10 with an additional 6 on the sleeping porch. I rented it for the annual beach trip with three other families. When I double checked the address a month before our trip, the number of guests was reduced to just 7! I had to count on the sleeping porch to accommodate my guests. The description still states that 6 additional beds are on the sleeping porch, but when we arrived we saw that there are only FOUR beds on the sleeping porch. Thank goodness one family cancelled at the last minute! It worked out in the end, but I feel we were way overcharged for the reduced number of guests allowed.

We loved the old house and sunny living room, a beautiful fire in the fireplace in the evenings and the outside campfire area... a great trip to the ocean

We had a great stay at the Lautorette House. It is in a perfect location, with easy access and plenty of parking and outdoor space. The property is not fancy or updated, but we actually prefer it this way, as it maintains the original charm of the house. The living and dining areas have a lot of space for gathering, and the fireplace is nice to have, too. We also really love how the owners have decorated the home with family photos and drawings of the property and Gearhart. The historical Gearhart books were a nice touch as well. The advertisement said that there were enough beds to sleep 10 adults, but we found out a week before arriving that the beds only accommodate 7. Vacasa was very apologetic and helpful and said they would update the ad, and we were able to make other arrangements for the overflow. Overall, we were very satisfied and would definitely rent the home again. Thank you so much!

Spent 7 days a the house and everything was just right. Thanks again!

Really enjoyed the spacious sunroom, the ambience of the historic house & the yard! The books about the history were interesting as well as the photos of family. The kitchen has lots of dishes & utensils, but when making pancakes, I found that neither mixer worked. It would also have been nice to have a few logs for the fireplace & a book with instructions about how/when to recycle, etc. These things of course, did not dampen our enjoyment of this GREAT weekend! Thanks!
Manager response:

The Latourette house is very sweet and we had a great time.
