188 East Van Buren Street #5, Cannon Beach, OR 97110

Peaceful and inviting dog-friendly cottage close to beach & town!

Enjoy a rejuvenating retreat at the Sunflower Cottage, quite possibly the cheeriest little Cannon Beach vacation rental you could imagine! This one-bedroom, pet-friendly cottage has all the comforts of home, only this home just happens to be less than two blocks from the beautiful sandy beach.

The Sunflower Cottage is one of six units in the Hidden Villa Cottages, a small vacation community arranged around a charming central courtyard. The cottages are tucked away in a quiet residential neighborhood, but still close to all the biggest hits of Cannon Beach: stunning Haystack Rock, delicious Sweet Basil's Cafe, and the numerous boutiques and galleries.

The cottage is brilliantly laid out to maximize space. The living area has a twin couch bed nestled before the gas fireplace, and an attractive cabinet opens up to reveal a flat-screen cable television with DVD player.

Adjacent to the living room, the kitchen has everything you'll need to prepare meals, including an oven with stovetop, full refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. The dining nook seats up to four, but the extra chairs can be stowed away for additional space if it's just the two of you.

The bedroom has a very comfortable queen-sized bed, and there is a full bathroom with shower. The cottage is also equipped with wireless Internet for those who like to stay connected, and there's public laundry room two miles away. Even better, you can bring ALL your loved ones along to the beach: up to four dogs may join you for an additional nightly fee. Your dog will love the easy access to the beach, and sampling the water bowls along Hemlock Avenue left out by friendly local merchants!

With only a half mile between your cottage and town, and a few blocks between you and the Pacific ocean, this Northern Oregon Coast vacation rental is a one of a kind beach-going experience!

We had a great time. Cottage was clean and just enough room for two adults and a dog. Walking distance to everything, including the beach. Will stay there again!
Maryanne P. April 2018
This is the second time I have stayed at the Sunflower Cottage in Cannon Beach...and I am already planning my next trip back! It is a very clean, cozy and comfortable little cottage that is beautifully stocked. The fireplace is an absolute gem and the stunning beach is only a block and a half away. I loved being able to walk to great restaurants for dinner, as well as check out the local shops. I look forward to visiting again soon!
MARY B. April 2018
Quiet and cozy. Wonderful gas fireplace. Perfect for a couple who need to get away.
Elaine Rains M. March 2018
Cozy and space efficient. Perfect for two people! Conveniently located a block from ocean.
Reese & Helen S. March 2018
Nice quiet little cottage.
Cyndi P. February 2018
This was a great little place. Ideal for 2 people. A bit crowded for 2 people and 2 dogs. Loved the location and quiet street.
Keri B. February 2018
The cabin was clean and close to the beach.
Maryanne P. January 2018
I thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Sunflower cottage in Cannon Beach. It was clean, cozy & very comfortable. The beach is only a block & a half away and it is stunning.
Steven B. November 2017
The small cabin has virtually all the amenities needed for a long weekend stay, but just a little cramped. We actually cooked Thanksgiving dinner in the kitchen and really enjoyed the quick and easy access to the beach and town
Heather H. November 2017
Nice quiet and peaceful. Can walk to the beach in a few minutes. Easy walk into the shops in town.
Donna S. October 2017
Quaint, quiet, and cute. Considerably nicer than staying in a hotel.
Lori C. October 2017
Great place to stay for one night! Accommodated our dogs too. Quiet area but close enough to walk to coffee shop and to shops.
Lara F. September 2017
Great cozy spot for us to stay with our dogs. Quick walk to the beach and town. Lots to do and see!
Linda S. September 2017
This was the perfect get away for bringing my mom to Cannon Beach. Easy access to both North and South Cannon Beach. Comfy and cozy. It was clean and very comfortable!
Maria L. September 2017
I enjoyed the peace and quiet of the area where these cottages are located. Simply charming.....I would say the units are really for 2 people vs three.
Rene O. September 2017
Appreciated cleanliness and option to bring the pup. Location is easy to beach access and town.
Dina Louise A. August 2017
Very sweet little cottage with just enough room for the two of us.
Monica L. October 2016
My husband and I spent our anniversary at the Sun Flower Cottage, since Cannon Beach was where we were married.
The location was perfect, very close to the beach, maybe a 3 minute walk. Absolutely no traffic noise. Close to all shopping and sight seeing. The kitchen was stocked well and perfect for breakfast and lunches.
I would highly recommend staying here and would book again without hesitation.
Gayle P. October 2016
Smaller than expected. Very clean but very strong fragrance in cottage with plug ins and fabric softener on towels. Aired out and put towels in kichtcen cabinets witch helped. Would have liked a hose to rinse our dog off instead of filling a big bowl to rinse. But all in all had a good time!
Robert C. October 2016
Great location to get everything done
Katie K. September 2016
I really loved this little cottage with the sunflower decor. The bed was very comfortable and the size was just right for one person.
Sean W. September 2016
Great, if small, cabin for a couple looking to get away.
Maria L. September 2016
We enjoyed our stay very much. The place is small but functional. If you don't like to feel crowded then this place is not for you. There were three of us and our dog and felt pretty on top of each other but we mostly were exploring Cannon Beach so we didn't mind the space
Myrna L. September 2016
We loved the location of the cottage. Even though it is small, the kitchen is equipped with pretty much everything you need to cook a meal.
Bassam A. August 2016
I have no problem recommending this property. Tiny, but has all you need to cook a nice breakfast in the adorable kitchen, very clean a 3 minute walk to the beach on a very picturesque, safe street. Just a few blocks from town as well, no need to drive your car until you leave!
Kathryn K. August 2016
We had a wonderful time with our family and the surrounding sites.
Deborah J. August 2016
Nice accommodations. Small, clean & walking distance to the beach & town.
Phil S. August 2016
Great location! Very convenient to the beach, shops, and restaurants. We didn't need to drive the entire stay!
Robert B. July 2016
Nice and peaceful place to stay, two blocks from the beach, and about six blocks from the downtown area. We were happy that the other guests were very quiet, with the exception of a few howling sessions from somebody's Beagle. No partiers around to ruin a quiet vacation for us!
Marion M. July 2016
Cozy little cabin very well situated
Julie G. June 2016
Had a wonderful time- will definitely be back!
Alexandra Z. June 2016
Nice, basic place to stay close to the beach.
Kathryn M. June 2016
Cottage 5 is very small but manageable. Just the basic amenities. Best part was that it's pet friendly and near the beach.
Marguerite N. May 2016
If you are a one or two with a pet, this is a perfect inexpensive, functional cottage court. Close to beach, coffee ad great restaurant
Christina E. May 2016
Great little place to stay. I loved that they allow pets and the proximity to the beach.
Mary S. May 2016
**Adorable cottage on a quiet residential street, walking distance to downtown, the ocean, hiking trails, and phenomenal coffee.**
Rebecca G. May 2016
love this cabin and location!
Dana Jonathan G. May 2016
wonderful location, cute cottages, will definitely try you again
Keith & Carmen K. April 2016
Very pleasant stay
Tessa B. April 2016
It was a cozy little place! Definitely not much room for more than two, but it was a very sweet little home.
Luke A. April 2016
We had a wonderful time. My husband, our two puppies and I will surely return.
Natalie P. February 2016
My boyfriend and dog and I had a lovely time staying at the sunflower cottage. The only negative was that vacasa didn't answer their phone the day we checked in and I never received the code to get into the cottage. Thank god the housekeeper was there to assist us because we didn't get a call back until almost 7pm, 8 hours after I left them a voicemail. We were so blessed with incredible sunny weather in the beginning of February!
Manager Response:
Thank you for your review. We are very sorry to see that we were so difficult to reach. We are currently hiring more Guest Services Agents to assist us with our increasing call volume so that this will no longer by an issue. We are glad to see that you otherwise had a great stay here!
Carol O. November 2015
Loved the cottage. Loved Cannon Beach. Beautiful beach. I would highly recommend this place.
Beth P. September 2015
Cute, Quaint, comfortable and close to everything. Good for 1-2 people, loved having neighbors to chat with in the courtyard.
Sierra W. August 2015
This is a fantastic place, I loved everything! When we got there about half an hour early there were still cleaners there so I knew it was very clean! They were incredibly nice and helpful.
The location here is fantastic being close to the beach and town but not where there is a ton of traffic (either walking or cars).
The only thing I can think that would be an improvement is that there are only curtains in the bedroom which means that it gets light in the bedroom early. It'll be fairly light around 9:30. For some that is too early, but it worked fine for me.
Mary R. April 2015
We enjoyed our stay at the Vacasa Sunflower Cottage: cozy, close to the beach and downtown. We will return!
Manager Response:
Hi, we are very happy that you had such a great time here! We love this adorable cottage with it's comfortable furnishing and quaint charm. Not to mention the great location for easy beach access, or a day trip into town for shopping and sightseeing. This cottage is perfect for a romantic getaway or small family trip. We hope to see you again soon!
Rima H. December 2014
great location, 2 short blocks to beach. Cottage is small but cozy, heats up nice in the winter when we were here and allows dogs which is great for us since we have 2. Price seemed good for 2 nights with 2 dogs and cleaning fee. We didn't take advantage of kitchen but if you do, it's even a better deal vs hotel. I would stay again and recommend to friends esp. w/ pets. Nice neighborhood and 5 minute walk into the main "downtown" of Cannon Beach.
Holly S. October 2014
My husband and I had a wonderful time in Cannon Beach and especially loved the little cottage we stayed in (the sunflower #5). It was perfect for the two of us. We would stay here again the next time we visit Cannon Beach.
Manager Response:
Thank you for your wonderful review of Hidden Village Condo #5-the Sunflower Cottage. We are so happy to hear you and your husband had a great stay here, this cottage is a perfect place for a cozy romantic getaway. Sunrise and sunset along Cannon Beach are never a disappointment here!
Diane . October 2014
The cottage is small but perfect for 2. Everything was perfect--it was equipped with everything we needed, even a fan! The fireplace was great after walking on the beach in wet or blustery weather. We have stayed in another Hidden Villa cottage, but liked this one better. The beds were comfy, linens were nice, and the furnishings were nice as well. Although they allow pets here, there were no indications that pets had been in this unit. It was clean and smelled nice! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet, cozy place close to the beach.
Steve H. October 2014
The Sunflower Cottage was our home for a few days at the end of September 2014. A very convenient, cozy, rustic cottage, great for our stay. The beach could not have been lovelier. We had never stayed in Cannon beach, just shopped there, so we will now consider Cannon Beach for overnight stays as well.
Emmy W. September 2014
Hidden Villas Is The Perfect Place To Stay In Beautiful Cannon Beach. Great Location To Walk to Everything In Town. Dog Friendly, Great Cozy Cottages.
Karla H. July 2014
Great location, 2 blocks from the stunning beach. You can just walk to the restaurants and shops. Fantastic!!! Would do it again. Nice experience, the place was cozy and super clean.
Wayne M. July 2014
I was a little worried about other reviews and complaints about ants and used bedding.
We found nothing to complain about . This was a clean and cozy little cabin for two . The small kitchen was perfect for cooking a small breaky or dinner .You are a short walk to the beach and the downtown shops and restraunts. There was no need for us to use our car to get around. The Beach is a short walk away I was pleasantly surprised we could have beach fires , such a great weekend. we will be back .
We really liked the day bed.
Amy W. July 2014
The cottage was very cute and cozy. Perfect for a couple but might be a bit too cozy for a family. There is a little lawn area and BBQ which was great for dinners "in". The location is great, a block and a half to the beach and a short walk to shops and restaurants. Very quiet and safe.
Joane S. June 2014
The Sunflower Cabin was quaint, clean, quiet, private and only a short block from the beach and the ocean!! It was great to be able to cook our own food and this made our stay that much more affordable! The only little caveat was the BBQ, which did not heat enough to cook meat.
All in all, this was a great vacation!!
Brynn B. April 2014
This property is 1.5 blocks to the beach. The courtyard is beautiful and the cabins are so cute! There are sugar ants, but you just have to wipe them away. We didn't mind so much because of the very affordable price in cannon beach. We would stay here again since the price was amazing!!! Thanks for a great stay!!!
Manager Response:
Thank you very much for giving us your review of your stay. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay in the home. We're sorry you saw some of the sugar ants that have taken up residence in this neighborhood. The home does get regular visits from an exterminator to keep them outside. I'm glad that didn't effect your overall stay.
Graeme L. November 2013
Very clean and cozy little cottage. Enjoyed it very much!
Lanu P. August 2013
Nice little cottages just off the main drag but close to the beach and town. Perfect for two people. Quite location.
Shantelle A. August 2013
I found the cottages to be great for us, with only one small child. We used the grill almost every night. We didn't have much trouble with the ants, because we cleaned up constantly. The one time we left out a bag with a tiny bit of sugar in the bottom we got a few ants. We used the spray and they were gone. It was comfortable enough. We made great friends with the "neighbors" and enjoyed spending time in the courtyard grilling and drinking and chatting with new friends. You can't beat the location, it is close enough to downtown and the market, great restaurants, and the beach!
Alicia V. July 2013
Quaint cottages in good location but not best suited for families. Too small and quiet. very close quarters. Couples will like these a lot....romantic. Close to beach and stores. Walking distance to coffee and eateries. Very clean and cozy.
Kati Y. May 2013
We have always stayed in the central coast area but my husband and I decided we wanted to visit the northern coast and see the surrounding area. I didn't want to spend a lot of money since it was just the two of us. I was so happy to find these cottages. It's nice to have no walls to share with neighbors and they let us bring our little dog. The place was super cute, pictures don't do it justice. The location was within an easy walk to the beach and town. We were able to explore every inch of Cannon Beach and met some of the nicest people while there. I will be back!
Jing L. April 2013
We've stayed there three times and really enjoyed it. It is small but it has everything. We love the quiet neighborhood and convenient location.
Barbara L. March 2013
I absolutely loved this place. I have stayed in many places in Cannon Beach but this was the coziest and sweetest place. It was very well maintained and a really great value!
Mark M. February 2013
I have never stayed anywhere else when I come to CB. These are perfect for 2-3 people and dogs. I love not sharing a wall with anyone and having a kitchenette. We get our fish at Ecola market and cook in cottage for most part...saves a lot of money. The bed was really comfortable. I love the fact that the cottages are decorated with different themes--so much better than a bland hotel room. Great location. We had the best time! The gas fireplace is great and heats everything up quickly. Can't beat this place! Thank you for allowing dogs. They had a great time too!
Angela B. October 2012
I completely enjoyed my stay at Hidden Villa and was so please when I arrived to see that the property was even nicer than the photos! The location could only be better if it were right on the beach; a very short walk to beach access and to both ends of Cannon Beach. I look forward to returning again! Thank you Hidden Villa!
Polly H. September 2012
a tea kettle would have been such a boon. as big tea drinkers, it really makes a morning not using the microwave or a big soup pot to boil water and then dip it out with a coffee mug. a small thing, but it can brighten your morning (& afternoon!) and one can easily be stowed away in the cupboard if not in use. also, shower tension bar fell the first morning as i ended my shower. looks rusted and like you could maybe use a new one. another small thing.

overall, we were singing your praises throughout our stay. and are already eager to go back. thank you mightily!!
Tracy T. August 2012
I've been coming here for years, even before Vacasa was managing and I just think it's a great place. Close to everything, but not on a main street. Decorated so adorably! I like that they are detached cottages. Small, simple and cute. Kitchenette is great if you need it. Pet friendly, which I really appreciate.
Tammy S. August 2012
great location. Clean property. Loved the sound of water pond and ocean all night. No air conditioning. You will need to leave the windows open but I felt safe. The town is lovely. Don't miss the coffee at the sleepy monk, a patty melt at the screw and brew, and a donut or two from Cannon Beach Bakery in town. Have a beer on the deck at The driftwood....everything is convenient. The scenery is breathtaking.....you may even spot an Elk or two in Ecola around dusk when they begin to feed for the evening. Magical.
Scott M. August 2012
Very pet friendly accommodations!
Sue V. August 2012
The Sunflower Cottage is a cute, cheery cottage on a quiet street in Cannon Beach suitable for 2-3 people (might be tight for 3 adults). The kitchenette is wonderful for cooking in or merely keeping food cold. The location is excellent! Just a short walk and you're at the beach between Ecola Creek and the Haystack Rock. Make a turn on your way to the beach and downtown is but a couple blocks away.
Kathy M. July 2012
This was our fifth or sixth time staying at Hidden Villa. I did think $250 for a weekend night was a little pricey, BUT, after checking other places, which were a little cheaper, most of them have a five night minimum. You can stay here for one night, or many. Location to the beach is perfect. There is a good bakery about a block south on the main drag. Yummy cheddar and bacon bagel, along with a great latte. The pet suppplies were much appreciated, as I forgot both a bowl and bags. We'll be back next year!
Neal S. June 2012
We rented this cottage as a quick getaway to usher in summer. It provided a great location to walk to the beach or to the main streets in town for shopping. There was enough space for a family of four (2 kids under 10 yrs old), but my wife and I look forward to coming back for our own getaway in the fall.
Carla R. April 2012
My 2 sons, husband and I stayed at the Sunflower Cabin during a beautiful weekend at Cannon Beach. The cabin is perfectly located just a block and a half from the beach access. Cute little place with full kitchen and plenty of room for 3. We were a little squeezed with 2 adults/2 children even though it worked for us. Clean and convenient, nice fireplace and common area with pond and croaking frogs to boot! Only issue was the ants but we're hoping to return if we hear it's been addressed. A great value for a long weekend of relaxation.
Manager Response:
Thank you for your review. We are making every effort to eliminate the sugar ants but as they are migratory and they arrive in spring on the coast, it has been impossible to completely eradicate them while keeping a healthy and safe environment for our guests and their pets. They usually disappear completely in late spring.
Joy M. April 2012
The sunflower cottage was so cute and incredibly clean! It was perfect for a weekend getaway for me and my husband and our small dog. We'll definitely be returning!!
Lori E. April 2012
Everything was perfect. Cute little cottage, close to everything, pet friendly! Thanks for ordering perfect weather
kimberly o. March 2012
The sugar ants were a little annoying, but not overly excessive. The beds were very comfortable and the placed stayed very warm with down comforters. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back!

I came to Cannon Beach for a conference. The cottage is in a nice residential area a little walk or even shorter drive to all the shops and 2 short blocks to beach access. FYI- the access to the bathroom is through the bedroom.
Karen J. February 2012
Great staff, convenient location and a nice homey vibe. Thanks!
Jessica C. November 2011
Just stayed 5 nights in Cottage #5 (Nov. 2011). It was super cozy and quiet. A great location - you can walk to everything you need. We will be back!
Aron B. November 2011
Great romantic getaway for couples! Nice, clean and cozy rustic cottage very close to the beach and conviently located near downtown Cannon Beach. If you can't find something right on the beach this place is the next best thing. We will definitely be coming back.
John J. November 2011
We absolutely loved this cottage! It was so cute, comfortable, and had all the comforts of home, and its location, 2 blocks to Cannon Beach, was really great! Two tips for the property manager (we never met, but that was OK) is to add a kettle in the kitchen and to check the power outlets under the kitchen table window. It was a real pleasure, and we hope to return again for a longer stay in the future.
Jennifer L. September 2011
We had the Best Time in Cannon Beach staying at the Sunflower Cottage! It was our 1 year Wedding Anniversary & we Loved every minute of it. We came up from British Columbia, Canada last year on our Honeymoon & fell in love with the area & we will always come back.
Thank You so much, Jen & Marc*
Rosemary R. July 2011
Especially great if you have a pet.
Lindsay J. June 2011
My husband and I stayed in the Sunflower Cottage with our Lab and it was a great location in proximity to the beach and town. It was just a quick walk down the quiet street to the beach and a short but beautiful walk to town. There was a water hose outside our cottage that provided a perfect place to rinse our Lab off after her playtime on the beach. The cottage was cozy and had nice furnishings but a couch in the living space instead of a day-bed would have been nice. It was hard to sit on for longer periods of time. But overall we enjoyed our time in the Sunflower Cottage! It was quiet, peaceful and a perfect mini-vacation!
Meredith M. June 2011
I stayed two nights at the Sunflower Cottage with my 22m old son. It's perfect for a family with small children or a couple traveling alone. Each cottage is ~350 sq. ft. You can shut the door to the bedroom while your toddler naps and still move about the main room of the cabin easily--excellent design and great use of space. It also opens on to a pretty courtyard for fresh air and sunshine, including a little pond and bridge that were a huge hit with my son. It has a full kitchen and is stocked with most everything you need--perfect for prepping quick meals. The cottage is a quick walk to the beach and a stroller access point, with the only drawback being that you need to cross a main road (although traffic moves slowly so it's pretty safe). Emma, the property manager, is great. We had a problem with ants and she responded immediately and also brought us a new toaster when we first arrived as I has asked about one when we booked our reservation. Very thoughtful. Overall, a gr
Sara H. June 2011
We loved this location and the cozy little cottage. There were a few things that needed some attention; lawn was overgrown (they mowed it while were were there) and an armoir with a broken door. But really those things don't diminish how quiet and cozy this little cottage is. The courtyard was great for our pup - she could step right outside to a little yard. We'll definitely be back - and we'll be recommending this place to all of our friends!
Donna N. April 2011
The six cottages open onto a lovely little courtyard with water features and lounge chairs. I enjoyed reading a book in the sunshine there. The location is on a quiet side street, but just two blocks from the beach. The cottages are small though, especially the bathrooms, so I think that more than two people would feel cramped. But for one or two people, these cottages offer a charming alternative to a motel room. They've been recently updated, too. Wifi connection was excellent and good water pressure in the shower. Thanks for a relaxing stay!
Sarah B. April 2011
This cottage was so cute and comfortable, with all the amenities I could have asked for; cable tv, wireless internet, a fireplace, a small kitchen...close to the beach and to town...perfect for a weekend getaway.
Helen S. March 2011
The cottage was adorable. It was two blocks from the beach and a convenient location in town. We loved it. The only complaint was no outside handle on the bathroom door which made it difficult to open if the door closed.
Alex D. March 2011
This lovely little cottage exceeded our expectations. Block and a half from the beach. Extremely pleasant, well-kept, comfortable interior. Went to speak with property manager twice but couldn't find her. Not because we had any problems; just to say hi and bye pretty much. Overall a lovely, lovely time. Recommended for couples or small families (2 adults, 2 small children max, I'd say).
Kendra F. March 2011
I can't remember the name of the girl that helped me but I called in on a sat and was staying there on Sun. She was very helpful and delightful. I liked it so much I stayed til Tues...Very clean!!! YAY! Thank you.
