Waterfront condo with shared pool - one-minute walk to ski lifts!

To ski or not to ski. That is the question at this cozy Ketchum vacation rental! Lifts are only a minute away but there's plenty to do that's not ski-centric, too. The community amenities include a year-round pool (with expanded hours in the summer), and with a queen and sofa bed, up to two guests sleep in comfort! While the word studio can conjure up images of small spaces, this condo feels bigger than most thanks to its unique spiral staircases, which wind their way up from the living area to the sleeping loft and down to the ground level. But be aware - it's not for anyone with bad knees or balance issues, however, as the staircases are very narrow! Enter the living area and you will spy many wonderful furnishings. A sliding glass door leads onto a convenient balcony, complete with a gas grill. A wood stove completes the interior. A cozy kitchen, while limited in counter space, makes up for it in decor. Wooden cupboards envelop a small fridge and electric range. A two-seat dinette set completes the comfy ambiance. The condo community has a shared laundry facility.

What’s nearby:
This two-story studio condo is just one minute from the Challenger and Greyhawk lifts on Bald Mountain and The Bald Mountain Inn. Downtown Sun Valley and Ketchum are mere minutes away by car. With its natural splendor, Ketchum is an outdoor lover's paradise. Skiers flock here in the winter for the wealth of powder options. With so many choices, from high-end resorts to smaller slopes, it's a ski and snowboarding mecca for a reason. Yet, there's so much else to do as well. Try your hand at horseback riding or hiking in the summer. Or head to one of the homey eateries in town. The customer is treated like a member of the family here.

Things to know:
Free WiFi
Full kitchen without a dishwasher
A damage waiver, covering up to $2,000 of accidental damage to the property or its contents, is included in the cost of your reservation.

Parking Notes: There is one parking pass in the unit. Please display it on the dashboard at all times. We ask that you return the passes to the unit at the end of your stay because the HOA charges us (and you!) a $150 replacement fee. Vehicles may be parked in designated parking areas. Observe the no parking signs and reserved/disabled parking spaces. The parking of trailers is not allowed, as there is limited parking available and the parking lots are very small. There may be parking available at the River Run parking lot on 3rd Ave. in Ketchum, but it is not supervised and guests park at their own risk.

You must be 21 years or older to rent this property.

We are seasoned travelers, and we also own a family property that we rent, so our review is from both an owner’s and a renter’s perspective.
We stayed here to ski and here’s what we liked: the 2-3 minute walk to the lifts, the river right behind the condo, the loft bedroom, the well-stocked kitchen, and the fun guestbook that shows how loved this place was many, many years ago. Heck, we even liked the spiral staircases, you just need to carry your bags and gear one load at a time. Having the bathroom and bedroom on the same level is great.
Things that could be better: as others have mentioned, this little place could use a fair amount of TLC. We like to cook meals in our room (especially during covid; dining out was not possible), and while the lack of dishwasher was not an issue, the tiny sink could barely hold any dishes for washing, there was no dish pan or drying rack or even a place to put them, and simply not enough space to prep for and clean up from a meal. There are all kinds of kitchen racks and butcher blocks, etc on the market that would help a lot in the space issue that would not require a true remodel.
The "dinette" set is more like a hotel lobby or end table, so you must hunch over a bit to eat; not very convenient or comfortable.
The loft bedroom is fun, there is no one above you to make noise, but the mattress feels and looks ancient and uncomfortable. Even a mattress pad would help a little.
As others have mentioned, the carpet is very stained in the main living area and just does not feel clean. We never wore our shoes inside, but the stains are from spills and food and such, not from shoes.
So, the proximity to the lift is probably worth it, but some updating would make it exceptional
Manager response:
Hi, Laurie! The carpets are scheduled for a professional cleaning, and we will look into getting a drying rack and mattress pad. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated. We hope to see you again!

Perfect for a couple looking to walk to the lifts and relax after a long day on the slopes in the hot tub.
Megan R. Aug 2020
This condo is probably fine during the winter but not worth it during the summer. It was hot and there were a lot of bugs inside! Also just felt very old, the mattress was not comfortable (I’m usually not picky) and the whole place didn’t feel very clean. The housekeeping was fine, clean towels, sheets, etc. but the carpet has stains everywhere. This condo should at least be a lot cheaper than it was. I paid over $200 after fees. Definitely not worth it!
Manager response:
Thank you for staying with us! We are happy to hear you enjoyed your home. Thank you for sharing your feedback and for bringing some items to our attention that may need some TLC. I have forwarded your feedback to the local staff so they can work to improve the house for future guests. Please know that our guest services team is available 24 hours a day to assist should any concerns arise during your visit. We hope you choose to stay with us again!

The location is great for skiing and has Warm Springs creek running right behind it.
Mark S. Feb 2020
Great location. Great access to lifts / ski-in/out, great pool. The living quarters were great. Great amenities...Fireplace, balcony overlooking the creek, grill, parking was convenient. The narrow spiral staircase was a bit awkward but added to the character of the place. I would stay there again if coming back.
Cliff J K. Oct 2019
It is a nice quiet condo on the river. It needs some upkeep, there is no window screen in the upstairs bedroom. The patio furniture was very questionable as far as you could sit in it or not, it's old needs replaced. I took my shoes off at the door as the sign in the entry asks. However, when I got the main level, it was apparent no one else had ever done so. The carpet is stained beyond what a carpet cleaning could ever fix. It needs some TLC and that would not cost the owners much. I would hope they would invest in their condo to make it more enjoyable. I would be a regular guest if so..
Manager response:
Thank you for your feedback, Cliff. We apologize for the condition of the carpet. We have passed your comments along to our local manager who will work with the homeowner to make upgrades. We hope we have the opportunity to host you again in the future!
John m. Aug 2019
Great location... great condo association with pool, sauna, laundry;
Generally well- appointed condo— though in need of some TLC — new carpet, painting of walls in hall and bathroom. Also, needs a new window screen frame in Master bedroom, to keep out bugs.
Manager response:
Hi, John! The screen has been repaired and a carpet cleaning has been scheduled. Thank you for staying with us!

The stream side deck was very relaxing
Anne B. May 2019
Perfect location. Very comfortable.
Daniel B. Oct 2018
Location is great and home is comfortable. Nice hearing Warm Springs Creek running just outside the back. Staircase is limiting to anyone with balance or mobility issues.
Jan R. Sep 2018
The river was the draw! Beautiful location. Place is very cute and comfy despite the narrow spiral staircases. Left the slider open to hear the river and really enjoyed the Warm Springs area. Nice pool too.
AMY F. Aug 2018
...could have used a warning about the narrow spiral staircase!
Christopher H. Aug 2018
Location was great & very pretty views from condo.
Larry C. Aug 2018
Loved he deck with the river below, and opening the sliding glass doors to fill the house with the sounds and smells of the outdoors.
Christian H. Jun 2018
Spectacular view with lots of natural light. The condo is small but well-stocked with everything you'd need. Perfect size for a couple, with just enough sitting room downstairs and outside on the deck. The staircase is narrow, but for the average-sized person, it's totally fine. The complex is in a nice, quiet location outside of town. The sound of the creek right outside was wonderful. Can't wait to stay here again next year.
Mark B. Feb 2018
The unit was exactly as pictured. No surprises whatsoever. We were steps from the lodge and lift, as well as public bus which is free. Ten minutes gets you into town. The heated pool/hot tub was also steps away and was awesome after skiing.
Jennifer J. Feb 2018
Overall a very cute and cozy place to stay. As others have mentioned, the spiral staircase is challenging. We are both fit, lean people and we had to be very mindful of the staircase any time we went up or down it. A minor issue once we got the hang of it. A regular coffee maker instead of the French press would have been nice. We bought a large mug and left it, since there was only one that size. We appreciated the spices left behind from other guests. The creek/river just outside also added to our stay. Very clean. We loved it and very much enjoyed our time there. We hope to return in the summer. Very near the Warm Springs chair lift, literally a 1 or 2 minute walk away. You can't beat the location if you re a skier. Two thumbs up!
Jared Z. Oct 2017
The property was very dated the spiral staircase was a real pain in the butt. The location was great The View was fantastic. Overall just maybe wasn't my style
Lynn M. Oct 2017
Aside from getting used to the narrow stair case, the condo was very clean and well-appointed. Perfect location for skiers and very comfortable.
Teresa B. Sep 2017
The quirky part is the spiral staircase to enter the condo and the spiral staircase to the loft. The view and the creek running below the condo were worth the effort of lugging suitcases, gear, and groceries up that spiral. The bed was comfortable and there were plentiful amenities.
Catherine A. Jul 2017
Let me start by saying this: I fell down the stairs. Other guests have commented that the two spiral staircases are narrow and difficult to navigate. That is very true. Going up, they're more like ladders. Carrying a large suitcase would be nearly impossible, and if you're a large person, look elsewhere because you likely wouldn't fit through the narrow spaces on both staircase. Going up is not so bad, but coming down the staircase between the living area and bedroom is downright scary. The stair treads are very, very narrow. At the top, you can hold the center post with one hand and the wall with the other. If you go down very carefully, putting your foot sideways on each tread, you'll be ok...until you get to the third from last stair. You can still hold the center post, but on your left, there's nothing but air. Signs inside the unit direct you to remove your shoes, which I had done. So, I was coming down wearing just socks and I got to third from last stair and I put my size 5 1/2 foot straight on the tread instead of sideways, and my foot slipped. I had ahold of the center post, which caused me to swing around, right to the top of the second spiral staircase, which goes downstairs. I fell down two of those stairs before managing to grab the wall in front of me. Luckily, I wasn't injured, just very shaken up, with a few scraped-up knuckles on one hand. There is no railing to hold on either staircase, so seriously...if you're staying in this unit, please go down slowly and carefully. Every tread is shaped differently - some are larger than others - but some only have a few square inches on which to place your feet on the way down. A fall on these stairs could result in a really serious injury, especially if one of your appendages happened to get stuck in the spaces between the treads as you fell.
Stairs aside, the unit is pretty cute and cozy, once you're settled into the level where you want to be. The main room is nice, and from the deck you have a great view of the pretty river. The mattress upstairs is not super comfortable, but the room itself is nice and has a huge window with a nice view. Several things were broken: the table on the deck, light fixture in the bathroom and hand towel bar in the bathroom. The little kitchenette is well-stocked and has everything you need. When we arrived at 11 pm, we found that the previous tenant had failed to leave the parking pass there. We called Vacasa and left a message, assuming we were out of luck for that evening. Vacasa called back within about 15 minutes. While they couldn't get a pass for us that night, they did have someone drop one by the very next morning. Overall, our stay was pleasant, but those stairs are really no joke. If you're looking at staying here, please be extra careful.
Manager response:
We apologize the stairs were such a concern for this guest. We also apologize for the broken items and will get them fixed promptly.
John M. Jun 2017
Very nice property -- but, spiral staircase to upper level is really narrow. Tough to get large suitcase upstairs.
Anne D. Feb 2017
This place is perfect for two people and maybe a child or two. We loved being near the ski lift and the lodge for lunch and after skiing hang out.
Must be able to walk up two flights of spiral staircases, but otherwise great place! Would stay here again.
Joycelyn H. Jan 2017
You cannot beat the location of this property. It is a quick (very short) walk to the ski lift and to the bus stop for free transportation to downtown. As already mentioned, the stairs are a little tricky, but if you don't have any physical issues that the stairs might be a problem, this condo is wonderful! Also, a large suitcase might be challenging to get up the stairs. It would much easier with a soft duffel.
Bob W. Jan 2017
The location was fabulous! It is a very short 1 to 2 minute walk to the lifts. The kitchen is very small and if you are planning on cooking dinners it might not be the best choice. We ate breakfast at the condo and lunch and dinners out so it was not a problem for us. The one negative for us was the spiral staircase. It is very tight and difficult to get your suitcase up the stairs. We are not large individuals and in good shape and although we could manage it would have been more comfortable without dealing with the stairs. And when you first walk in you have to go up the stairs to the main floor and then again to the bedroom and only bathroom.

We much enjoyed our stay
Jayne B. Aug 2016
This is a great place for the money. My husband and I stayed here and it was great for 2 people. I would not recommend having any more than 2 people. The grounds were nice and I enjoyed the pool too.
Cheryl H. Jun 2016
This condo is in a great spot. The chairlift is literally on the other side of the wall enclosing the development. But the narrow, steep spiral stairs which have to be negotiated are something else. Not easy to get luggage up and down. Also VERY dangerous for toddlers/young kids. The rail on the top floor was about 10 inches wide and a small child could easily crawl through and fall. We had to barricade the top with an extra piece of carpet found in the closet and dresser drawers.
Also, the entrance into the condo is very small. There's no place to sit and take ski boots off. There is barely room for 2 people to just stand, let alone move around to get gear on and off.
Despite all of this, we enjoyed our stay. But knowing about these shortcomings beforehand would have been nice.
By the way, we stayed in June but we are avid skiers.
Manager response:
We are sorry to see this guest was a bit disappointed with the design of the unit and hope the great location made up for it!
Kathleen R. Mar 2016
Carol K. Mar 2016
Great location and overall lovely studio. Very quiet with beautiful light and views of the river and mountain.
Ruby T. Mar 2016
Within walking distant to Warm Spring lifts!
Mary E. Feb 2016
Great proximity to lifts. All necessary amenities easy off street parking. Love the creek edge and deck. Love the pool after a hard day skiing. Great, responsive staff. Would stay again
John R. Jan 2016
Great location. Nice comfortable unit......once you get accustomed with the access challenge. Definitely avoid if you might come home a bit tipsy!
Marjan B. Jan 2016
Very quiet in Jan; good show and no ski lines but cold. The studios is very located for skiing. Stairs were not a problem for us but are certainly not to code. I would recommend Sun Valley in Jan only for snow enthusiast. Bars and restaurants were not impressive in this month (and fairly expensive).
Atina A. Mar 2015
I loved my stay here! The place is adorable in an old-fashioned way (i.e., classic cozy lodge style, not modern sleek lodge style) and the geothermal-heated pool was a gift from the gods (there is not a separate hot tub but the pool is 102 degrees). I did not have a single problem.

I think I should add, though, that the stairs are extremely tight and steep, and there are two flights of stairs. My friend and I joked that they should be called a ladder, not stairs. My friend and I are both thin and very fit so we had absolutely no trouble. But all the same, we couldn't stop cracking up at how tight and steep the stairs were. We could barely get our bags up because the angles are so tight. If you are elderly or have knee trouble, I would advise you against this unit. If you're a skier or hiker, don't worry about it. The stairs add to the fun!

BTW, the reviewer who complained about the balcony is crazy. It absolutely is on the river, with an amazing view.

Manager response:
Thank you for this great review! This home has that small spiral staircase that leads upstairs, and might be hard for older people to maneuver. We are glad that you enjoyed the pool and the amazing view from the balcony! We can't wait for you to visit Vacasa again soon.
Daniel T. Mar 2015
The studio is clean, comfy, nicely furnished, great location and price. We loved the close access to the lifts and bus line. The only caution to note is the steep, narrow staircases on the two floors. As other reviewers have noted, as long as you're reasonably athletic and not too wide, they're doable.
Mindy S. Feb 2015
We wanted to give it 5 stars, but the misleading photo of the balcony felt like false advertising, as it's not the actual unit you are renting. In addition, the challenges of spiral staircases were not thoroughly disclosed (there are two, not just one, and they are very narrow and difficult to navigate, even for two healthy, active people). Even so, if this was fully disclosed, we'd be happy to give 5 stars.

This property is in a great location, as you can literally walk to the lifts from the front door and then to the community pool/spa. It is clean, comfortable, and an efficient use of space. The river is just off the balcony (although not as large or as close as the cover photo shows). The sound of running water and the view was still great.

The spiral staircases (there is one from the door to the main living area and then another to the sleeping loft) are tricky and it's difficult to carry bags up and down. You need to have good strength and balance to navigate them. There is no dining table and chairs at which to eat. You need to be comfortable sitting on the sofa and/or floor at the coffee table, which worked fine for us.

The place is comfortable and cozy, with a small, but very functional, clean, and well-stocked kitchen. The bed linens were really soft and cozy, making it difficult to get up in the morning, despite the fantastic natural playground that awaits you outside!
Manager response:
Thank you for sharing your review. We would have loved a 5 star review. Our listing does make it clear that the home has spiral stairs "While the word studio can conjure up images of small spaces, this condo feels bigger than most, thanks to its unique spiral staircase, which winds its way up from the living area to the sleeping loft. But be aware - it's not for anyone with bad knees or balance issues, however!" We are so pleased that you did enjoy the comfy condo and it's amazing location. The owner has taken great care to ensure that it is comfortable and welcoming for guests. Please come stay again!
John C. Jan 2015
This was a last-minute rental for us, but we were pleased with the fabulous location within walking distance to the lifts. The studio condo was extremely clean and comfortable. The very narrow spiral staircase does make it difficult to get luggage and ski bags up and down, but that's just the way it is and we managed just fine. It might not be a good choice for older folks who may have bad knees or hips, though. As stated above, directions on how to operate the TV and fireplace would be very helpful, and getting the stuck drawers in the loft chest of drawers to open are the only suggestions. Thanks for a wonderful New Year's Week stay! We'd definitely rent again!
