Lakeview lodge with two decks, pool table, hot tub & shared swimming pools

Plan the group vacation you've been waiting for at this five-bedroom Ellijay lodge, a spacious North Georgia retreat with a private hot tub, a pool table, two large decks, and gorgeous vistas of Carters Lake and the Blue Ridge Mountains.

This cozy property is part of the Talking Rock Creek Resort, which sits just three miles from the marina at Carters Lake. You'll also be 19 miles southwest of Ellijay and 20 miles northwest of Jasper, offering easy access to shopping, dining, and outdoor recreation.

Surround yourself with exposed wood in the great room, which features lofty beamed ceilings, several plush sofas, and a wall of windows that overlook the Carters Lake Regulation Reservoir. Build a fire on crisp autumn evenings, use the WiFi to post a few photos, and watch a DVD on the first of five satellite TVs.

Prepare dinner as a family in the open kitchen, where you'll find granite countertops, modern appliances, and three bar stools for your vegetable-chopping sous chefs. Sit down for homemade meals at the six-person dining table or the adjacent four-person bistro table.

Spend your days lounging on the wrap-around deck, cooking on the gas grill, and gathering at the patio table for al fresco lunches. The Talking Rock Creek Resort also offers two seasonal swimming pools that are open from Memorial Day until Labor Day, a fitness center, and a fishing pond for your enjoyment.

And in the evenings, you can take a soothing soak in the private outdoor hot tub, gather for ghost stories around the firepit, or head downstairs to the family room for a game of nine ball on the eight-foot slate pool table.

With five bedrooms and three full bathrooms, Cherokee Overlook can accommodate as many as 16 guests. On the main floor, you'll find a master suite with a queen bed, a TV, and a bathroom with a jetted tub and walk-in shower, as well as a sleeper sofa in the great room.

The upper level has one king bedroom, one queen bedroom, and a bathroom with a tub/shower combination. On the lower level, you'll find one bedroom with two twin beds, and one bedroom with a double bed. A set of twin bunk beds and a futon are in the family room, and there's also a bathroom with a tub/shower combination on this floor.

Additional amenities include parking for a boat trailer and a private washer/dryer to keep your outdoor clothes clean and fresh.

Thanks to its wonderful location within sight of Carters Lake, this North Georgia retreat is ideal for boating enthusiasts, anglers, and all lovers of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Rent pontoon boats at the Carters Lake marina or spend the day fishing and hiking along the 62-mile shoreline.

You'll also be just 23 miles south of Fort Mountain State Park, which is known for its gorgeous trails and an ancient rock wall believed to have been built by early American Indians, and 38 miles from Amicalola Falls State Park, where you can catch a glimpse of the tallest cascading waterfall in the Southeast United States.

Begin planning your next reunion or group getaway today - this wonderful Ellijay cabin will give you a vacation you'll never forget!

Me and my family had an amazing time!! The only problem I had was getting to the cabin.. so putting up a sign would be a great idea!! I love the cabin!!

I loved the look of the cabin, the amenities, the efficiency of the company whenever we needed help with our stay, and the personable staff who walked us through anything we needed help with.

Although the property was beautiful, we had some serious issues that made the trip difficult to enjoy. First and foremost, there is a major roach infestation problem in the kitchen. My guests and I would move things and find roaches scattering. I even opened the fridge and found one crawling INSIDE. I found this completely unacceptable. We understand being in the middle of the woods and having to freak with outside critters (we found a scorpion downstairs and my guest was bit by a spider), but the roaches we saw were a sign of a cleanliness issue that needs pest control.

Secondly, the sheets and towels downstairs were not clean. My guests didn’t want to use them. Two guests even slept on the couches, even though we specifically paid for this property so we could have beds.

Third, the WiFi did not work. We understand that we were forewarned about the lack of cell reception, but I have a message from you all saying internet would be provided for our convenience. With it not working, we were terribly inconvenienced. We didn’t even know how yo find food in the area (even though the closest options were an additional 30 mins away).

Had I known these things ahead of time, I probably wouldn’t have booked here.

In this same review I left for Air BNB, I mentioned hopefully that someone will reach out to compensante me for the troubles. I’ll be waiting to see what the response is and then I can properly evaluate customer service.
Manager response:
Hi Dorianne, thank you for staying with us. We are happy to hear you enjoyed the property. We are sorry to hear of the disappointing experience you had with us. We have followed up with our housekeeping team and maintenance to ensure future cleans and updates will be completed to our high standards. We are happy to report that the home is scheduled to be sprayed for pests and checked regularly. We hope to have the opportunity to host you in the future, for a much more enjoyable stay!

My family enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The main floor is very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is infested with German Cockroaches and the Chiggers outside are brutal so bring bug spray. I cannot rate the amenities due to our passwords did not work and neither did the pool pass. We were told by maintenance that someone would bring another but never did. The grounds are very unkept with a lot of debris such as beer cans, soda cans, and garbage. The fire pit is a "hot mess". We did clean that a little. Overall I think someone should take a week and really clean the property. Within 15 min of arriving my 1 yr old granddaughters knees were black from dirt on the floors inside. The downstairs twin bed has coils sticking out so it was unusable. The refrigerator leaks and there is very little room to store groceries in the kitchen. Overall though we had fun.
Manager response:
April, we are glad that you had fun during your stay! The home has been bombed for roaches and the grounds have been cleaned up. The twin bed has also since been replaced. We appreciate your feedback and we hope to get a chance to host you again in the future!

The only think I enjoyed was the view of where were the cabin Is located. Otherwise....there were roaches, it was not properly clean, the gate code and code to the amenities did not work, and the place was not advertised accurately so be sure to call ahead to confirm a few things
Manager response:
We're glad you enjoyed the view and apologize for the condition of the home. If we are made aware, we will make every effort to assist our guests. The home has since been treated for pests, professionally deep cleaned, and updated amenity details. Thank you for your review, Ricardo!

Pros: looks just like the photos, nice size jacuzzi, VERY close to nature, nice views, lots of kitchen pots, pans, utensils, and towels. You’re very secluded from others, plenty of space and places to sleep. Quick maintenance.

Many many many bugs. But like..big bugs. We found scorpions in our master bathroom, one the length of a finger and three tiny ones. It seems They may have been falling from the ceilings, kind of scary but understandable cause of the environment. WiFi is pretty much nonexistant. The ice in the fridge had frozen insects in it. There was a leak from the kitchen ceiling the third night cause the top floor bathroom is older, BUT they were very quick to fix it. Mattresses and beds are old so they’re pretty uncomfortable and very noisy. The front gate code didn’t work the entire time, we had to sneak in behind other cars. The locals don’t seem to know about the Rental being there so when we threw out trash at the front a man was pretty rude to us and followed us back because he didn’t believe it was an Airbnb.

All in all, the home could use some love and updating but it is a beautiful location. The customer service was excellent and very quick to help!

Everything was good. We had a feeling of home away from home. Enjoyed the hot tub and pool table. The pool sticks were missing tips but I brought my own and still had a great time playing. We had 5 people there and had plenty of room. Set the cornhole boards up in the drive way and played, when it rained the covered porch gave us a great place to still enjoy the outside!!!

The open floor plan. The firepit the family enjoyed. Would consider renting again.

Everything about this place was as good if not better than the pictures showed
Melvina J. Dec 2019
The cabin was great we loved our stay and my grand kids are ready to go back. Everyone enjoyed their stay. This is just a suggestion about the direction to the cabin. Maybe you can add this to the end of the direction for future family who are unfamiliar with the area like myself. Highlight or all caps for if you reached Talking Rock Creek Resort R.V do not enter turn around and make a right and your street will be on the right. There is no sign so please look for the first street on the right and drive to the gate and enter your code.
Manager response:
Melvina, we are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay! Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We will be sure to pass your suggestion regarding the provided directions along to our local manager for consideration. We look forward to hosting you again!

Enjoyed hot tub and pool and comfortable furnishings

Quiet location surrounded by nature. Just what we were looking for to retreat for a long weekend.
Linda E. Aug 2019
Turns out this was the second time we stayed in this cabin, and we had a wonderful time! The babies loved we had access o the playground and the pool and the adults appreciated the new grill and living room furniture. The whole family enjoyed the fire pit. I’m confident before long we will be booking our third trip to this very same cabin. Minor note: The downstairs twin mattress in the bedroom to the right badly needs to be replaced, but we didn’t need the extra bed so we weren’t affected. Thank you for your hospitality!
Manager response:
We love to hear from our repeat guests! We have removed the twin bed from the listing until we can get it replaced. Thank you!
Wilson G. Jul 2019
We love this cabin, bathrooms are cleaned, very nice beds, hot tub works fine, enough rooms and sofas to accommodate 15 people.
David S. May 2019
Very private. Close to Carter Lake. Good hiking in the area. House was clean and perfect for our family. View of the lake was a little obstructed from trees on the lower floors but could easily be opened up with a good trim. Kids enjoyed the hot tub!
Kristin D. Mar 2019
The Good:
The house is very spacious with lots of beds and room to spread out. Beds were comfortable & bathrooms were decent with good water flow. Nice towels. The view is lovely. Great decks. It was a serene setting. Stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher & washer/dryer all worked well. There is a great blender and a large electric griddle. Decent kitchen set-up made meal making easy. The boys loved the pool table. Hot tub was solid. Vacasa is a professional agency with high standards that wants to treat their guests well. This was obvious and appreciated.

The Not So Good:
Many overhead lights didn't work or needed light bulbs so it was rather dark. Directions were practically impossible. All 4 vehicles got lost. Basically, just go to the main gate, turn around and take the first two rights. Good luck with that.
The floors creak and there were ants and stink bugs (which doesn't bother me but some in our group were "bugged"). The worst thing was the horribly intermittent wifi. It may have been the weather (wifi is by satellite) but was impossible to even have a phone call or send a text for 80% of the time there. I had some basic computer work (send/receive emails) that I could not do at the house so I had to drive 45 minutes to a cafe to get internet - each day - which wasn't fun. In this day and age, this is truly unacceptable for a vacation home, even a remote one like this. If the internet provider was changed, I would return.
Manager response:
We are glad to hear you enjoyed the amazing view! Our local manager will replace any missing or broken light bulbs, we recommend guests follow our specific driving directions since GPS isn't reliable, the home will be treated for pests, and the internet is in good working order. We appreciate you taking the time to leave a detailed review and we hope to host you again soon!

Spent the weekend there with some friends for my birthday and we had a blast. Cabin was very very spacious with lots of places to sleep. Hot tub was a great size as well. The place is super secluded which is great and the view from the living room/kitchen is gorgeous.

Only complaint would be the awful directions. We spent about 50 minutes driving around trying to find it. So for future renters, take your GPS to the address provided. The GPS will take you to the main gate... where you will NOT enter. You will turn around and make a right on the main following then another right at the next street up. House is right before the culdesac.
Michelle R. Nov 2018
The house was basically ok but there could be lots of improvements. The bunk beds and double bed in the same room were very creaky. Under the beds was not clean. There were no wine glasses. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.
Manager response:
We appreciate this guest leaving feedback. We have followed up with our housekeeping team, and they will pay closer attention to these details moving forward. The wine glasses have been replaced. We look forward to hosting this guest again soon!

Very roomy. Private. Beautiful area.
Sandi M. May 2018
House was very homey and inviting. All you can need from a home love the bonus: location, view, hot tub, pool table and privacy. Will be back in the future.
Matt K. May 2018
This is an amazing cabin and is in a really great location with zero other homes in sight! Plenty of room and lots of towels ect that you will need. There were exactly 3 things that were not up to par.
1st, there is not a broom/dustpan so cleaning the floor during our week stay with kids was frustrating.
2nd, the internet was garbage. I was getting about 500kbs while being the only device connected. It was a DSL hook up so i'm not sure what the issue was.
3rd, it was tough to find at first because GPS does not take you anywhere near it. If you follow GPS you will need to ignore it when it asks you to turn into the main gate entrance. Instead go about a qtr mile up the road and make the first right. You'll see just a gate (no parking or any structures) use the passcode provided minus the # to get it to open. The cabin is at the end of the road, only drive way on the road.

I really hope this helps others!

Stacey S. Apr 2018
I loved it. No broom, and beds in basement we're a little uncomfortable. But other that that, we really enjoyed the privacy.
Dena M. Dec 2017
Cabin was very spacious with 3 levels. Nice granite in kitchen and baths. Pretty pine floors and walls. Bedding and linens were poor quality and made our stay less than comfortable.
Joyce L. Nov 2017
Please update the directions to the cabin, it took us almost 30 minutes and then the office had to assist us.
Lakshmi J. Oct 2017
Our group enjoyed the home very much. The kids enjoyed the hot tub and the game room. The fire pit was a great place to gather around in the evening. The house was comfortable and beautiful. Thanks.
Sharon S. Oct 2017
Beautiful cabin in wooded area with lake/mountain view from the upper deck. Lots of windows provide a great view of the outside. Ample seating in great room and downstairs game room for group together time. We used this location for a ladies church retreat and absolutely loved it.
Mark S. Sep 2017
A very comfortable house, surrounded by beautiful trees!
Tom A. Jun 2017
The house was very nice and in an attractive location. We only stayed for a couple of nights but it was perfect for our needs. I would certainly stay here again and could really only cite two negatives. One is that it is definitely a remote location as it seemed to be at least a 20 minute car ride to anything. Not a huge deal but definitely meant that you needed to plan ahead. The other thing was that it is difficult to find. You have to follow the written directions provided exactly. GPS will not find the street address and there were no street signs or house numbers that I saw. I would hate to try to find it in the dark.
Donna C. Apr 2017
Large home with lake and mountain view!
Ashley N. Apr 2017
Wonderful house with great amenities....You will never have to leave the house. Pool table, hot tub, fire pit, plus lots of bed sleeping options.
Zach Y. Jan 2017
Located away from all the hustle and bustle of daily life, this beautiful and well-equipped cabin served as the perfect get away for our group of friends just wanting a nice weekend to hang out with each other. The staff of both Vacasa and the property were responsive and friendly. I would highly recommend a stay here!
