Vintage mountain cabin in the woods close to skiing, hiking, & more!

This vintage cabin on Mt. Hood is the perfect place for your next vacation. With scenic surroundings and nearby ski access, this 1940s cabin will comfortably sleep up to nine travelers.

Located in Mt. Hood Village in the woods near the Sandy River, you'll enjoy peace and quiet while a two-mile drive will bring you to conveniences in Welches. For skiing and more fun, drive 12 miles to Skibowl or 19 miles to Timberline.

The house has warm wood walls and comfortable furniture for that classic cabin feel. Get cozy in the living room on the furniture by the wood stove and read a book or catch up with friends and loved ones. On a rainy day, you might play board games or turn on the flatscreen TV to watch a DVD or browse on WiFi. Warm up after a snowshoe hike before the wood-burning fireplace--there's no better way on Mount Hood.

A full kitchen makes it easy to cook family meals, with all the essentials and extras like a dishwasher and coffeemaker for efficiency. Six will fit around the dining table for dinner together.

Three bedrooms plus a loft and two full bathrooms allow up to nine guests to stay here. One bedroom downstairs features a queen bed, as does one room upstairs. The third bedroom has a queen bed and one twin while the loft features two twin beds. Enjoy a soak in the large tub in the master bathroom at the end of the day.

Gather around the outdoor firepit at night and enjoy the warmth and fresh mountain air under a cool sky of stars.

This cabin is perfect for a family or a group of friends - this tranquil setting is the perfect place to kick back and relax, with the green of trees all around and the sound of the river in the distance. You might bring a pole and try your luck catching the evening's dinner, or wander up to the golf course at Welches to play a round. Before the snow falls, there are ample opportunities for mountain biking, swimming in nearby lakes, and playing at the summer amusement park at SkiBowl.

Of course, wintertime is dazzling on Mt. Hood. Make your way up to SkiBowl for decent skiing, or up to Meadows or Timberline for an even better selection of slopes. Nordic skiing and snowshoeing are great activities as well, with many trails winding through the beautiful snowy forest. On your way back from an adventure, stop for a beer and burger at Mt. Hood Brewing Company in Government Camp or perhaps the Barlow Trail Roadhouse in Zigzag.

We loved this cabin's proximity to a short but sweet hike along the Sandy River, where our kids could play on the rocks and sand. The loft with the two twin beds was a perfect spot for older kids to sleep and play (ours were 6 and 10). Everything worked well, from the fireplace to the hot tub. We did discover that we couldn't run the coffee pot and the toaster oven at the same time without blowing a fuse, but that was an easy fix. This was a great winter getaway spot!

Driving up to the house we were surprised with the neighborhood. It's a narrow dirt road some run down property nearby. Our friend from the area told us this is not unusual. There were beautiful properties and nice neighbors once we explored a little more. At the property there was enough privacy and inside was great. Plenty of space for 4 adults, 2 teens, two small kids and a toddler. Kitchen was well stocked and the store was close by. We stayed very warm with the heat provided and the hot tub was great. It did seem that they had been working on renovations (some paint not finished) and we would love to come back in the summer to stay again.

Our wedding guests got back to this cabin late after our wedding to find no hot water, next day someone came to "fix" it, got one shower out for the kids and no hot water for the adults after, It has a tankless water heater.
Manager response:
We apologize for the issues affecting your stay, Amanda. We appreciated the opportunity to assist with this concern once it arose. We have since reinspected the water heater and have been unable to determine any further need for repair. We hope to host you for a great stay in the future!

This is a great cabin in the woods. It's easily accessible, but puts you right into nature.

As soon as we opened the door we felt at home! Such a cozy, comfortable cabin, beautifully furnished and decorated, very clean, and equipped with everything we could possibly need. The situation is ideal, being easily accessible from Hwy 26, yet hidden away in a wooded area, a few minutes walk from the Sandy River, and close to many hiking trails. After a good hike there is no better way to relax than in the hot tub! This was a perfect retreat and one we plan to return to often.

The house was clean, spacious & had a lovely hot tub.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Mountain Air Sweet Retreat. The home was warm and cozy with a beautiful stone fireplace and propane heater in the living room that really put out the heat. Propane heat in the other rooms was nice, too. The beds were comfy - overall the home was well equipped with clean towels and all the kitchen equipment we could want. Our only complaint was that the hot water didn't last very long and turned to cold very quickly. If we waited a few minutes it would get hot again. Hot tub was great and not far from the house. The neighborhood is woodsy and the location was very nice for access to the ski areas and restaurants, grocery, etc. Neighbors are close by and some of the homes look in need of repair. We had no problems with the neighbors and the home was pretty quiet, just a bit of highway noise but not enough to bother us. All-in-all we would come here again.

It was what you would expect for an old cabin. It was clean and well taken care of. Everything worked and was easy to use.

Snug cozy little house. Both bathrooms are downstairs. Lots of neighbors close by but they were friendly considering we had a full house all weekend. The store is a convenient 2minute drive away for food, supplies, etc.

It was fun to get away from the city but not much to do there

Our group enjoyed the stay. We appreciated the fact there was the same amount of seating in the main area as there were beds. I felt this helped make it easy to keep all activities in one place.

Slightly smaller than the pictures suggested, but plenty spacious for five adults and two toddlers. (Not particularly toddler-friendly, however: be prepared to do a lot of following the littles around.)
Key pad on the front door didn't work, but property manager was prompt in addressing the issue.
Once we pulled off the main highway, we wondered if we were in the right place, (a number of very rundown properties and a deeply-rutted "road" that was more of a path- low-to-the-ground vehicles might have trouble,) but when we pulled up out front of the home it looked great. Very quiet, easy walk to the river, easy drive to the mountain.

We enjoyed our stay, the location is great. It was smaller than it looked from the pictures but was very comfortable and clean. We had a great time. (2 couples, 3 kids).
