Sleepy, dog-friendly cabin just a short distance from skiing, swimming, & more!

Take your family, friends, and canine companions on the best Big Bear vacation they've ever had! This dog-friendly home has everything you'd like in a relaxing getaway in the Californian mountains: peaceful, rustic surroundings, nearby skiing and swimming, and all the right comforts of home.

Tucked away in the quiet neighborhood of Sugarloaf, on the southeast side of town, your home feels nice and isolated, surrounded by woodlands you can admire from either the lower-level or upper-level decks. Despite this, you're only three miles away from shopping and dining in Big Bear, so don't worry about going without! Guests should be aware that a four-wheel drive vehicle is recommended for wintertime access.

When you step inside this home, you're immediately greeted by a charming wooden sign reading "Stairway to Heaven," fittingly hanging by the stairs to the main level. It's hard to disagree with the sign - plush furnishings, gorgeous woodwork on the ceilings and floors, and touches like a stone-work fireplace make this a perfect place to come home to.

The upstairs living room is conveniently placed near the deck, making it easy to switch from taking in fresh air outside to warming up by the fire. Huddle with your loved ones on the sofa and watch your favorite DVDs on the flatscreen TV. This home also has complimentary WiFi.

Just a few steps away, the cozy kitchen has all the appliances and dishware you need for home-cooked meals, along with shining tile countertops. You can take in your food at the nearby table for four, or head onto the deck for a fun barbecue by the grill!

Two bedrooms sleep up to five guests at once, along with your dogs for a small nightly fee. The master bedroom lies downstairs by the entrance, with a spacious queen-size bed you and your sweetheart will love. Meanwhile, kids can enjoy a double-size bed and double-size bunk bed in the second room upstairs. This room also offers easy access to the sole bathroom, where you can treat yourself to a decadent bath or soothing shower.

Big Bear offers plenty of fun at all times of year! Wintertime guests can tear up the slopes at Bear Mountain Ski Resort eight miles away, with some of the most popular skiing and snowboarding in the state. Kids can learn about the local wildlife at the nearby zoo on the way back home! Summertime guests, meanwhile, should be sure to explore Big Bear Lake. At the marina, about eight miles away, you can enjoy everything from swimming and boating to fishing and waterskiing!

Place your reservation today and prepare for the Big Bear getaway of a lifetime! A damage waiver, covering up to $2,000 of accidental damage to the property or its contents, is included in the cost of your reservation.

I was dropped off here to stay by myself for a few days. The place was clean and had everything that I needed for my stay. I LOVED how close it backs up into the trees. Since I didn't leave, I was able to enjoy the peaceful night sky, chipmunks, squirrels and coyotes howling in the distance. I can understand why some complain about the stairs; however, it wasn't an issue for me and I actually enjoy how much the steps separate the house. I would 100% stay here again.

Cabin was spotless and well appointed. We went for some quiet solitude and this was just what we were looking for.

This place was exactly what I was looking for in a spring mountain getaway. It's right down the street from several trailheads, far enough from town to be quiet, and has the basic amenities you'd need to cook meals. I especially appreciated the wifi and retro VHS collection. I will note that this place is *not* accessible -- lots of stairs -- and definitely only has space for one compact car. But it fit the needs of our group very well. Will definitely be back.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at this cabin, lots of stairs (as it says in its name) but so beautiful! Perfect scenery, plenty of snow for the kids, and close to local stores.

Everyone from management and maintenance were on top of their game.
Previous reviews about pillows are out of date. Now they have all kinds of pillows: from fluffy to temperpidic.
Very nice set of towels!
But what we really loved was the shower... feels like a waterfall!
Very cozy cabin and safe.
A nice option for a gateway!

The cabin was cute , clean, and fresh as well as stocked with almost everything we needed. It’s situated away from the crowds and close to hiking trails. We used the fireplace and BBQ and both worked wonderfully. However, I would suggest bringing your own pillows as those provided are not too cozy.

This cabin is nice and secluded in Sugarloaf. For those that don’t know the area well, Sugarloaf boarders Big Bear. They share the same village and markets. The drive from the cabin to Bear Mountain and Snow Summit is easy (about 15 minutes). I like secluded properties and this cabin fits the mold. The only thing I’d warn about is parking. The cabin doesn’t have a true driveway or allocated parking area that fits a vehicle larger than a compact car. The place is cozy, clean and comfortable for a cabin stay.

Very enjoyable stay. Very nice cabin with great views. Quiet and clean. Heat is too hot upstairs and freezing downstairs. Otherwise great.

Todo el proceso de la reserva, instrucciones de entrada y salida fueron muy claros, y la persona que nos entendió en el check in fue muy amable.

This was s a great cabin in Sugarloaf. Minutes from Big Bear and the ski resorts. The only issue is the amount of stairs to climb.
Into and in the cabin itself. If you are older or have mobility problems this cabin may not be the best spot for you.
There is a walking trail at the end of the road for some quick exercise and taking in the scenery.
It is pet friendly, but again f you have an older dog or one with hip/walking problems , this may to be the best cabin.
I would come back.

It felt like a nice little hideaway in the trees - great private deck to keep the dogs while out mountain biking

My gf and our two children (ages 8) stood at this location for a weekend (Friday through Sunday). We enjoyed the location and surrounding area as it was very peaceful. The home is nice on the outside but does need some work. There is absolutely no parking if you have a large family sedan or even a short bed truck. The parking is minimal size and could probably only fit a small Prius. The railings in the house are loose and not sturdy, the carpet is old and needs to replaced.
The house has a lot of potential and may have been very beautiful at one point but does not seem to be upkept well. Vacasa the company itself is very good. Very attentive, welcoming and very professional. We will be using them again for another trip in the future of a different location.
Manager response:
We appreciate this feedback. Parking is tight for the home, but guests are welcome to parallel park on the paved road in front of the home. The railings are scheduled to be tightened, carpets are scheduled to be cleaned, and we are working with the owner to make improvements to the home. Thank you!

My family and I stayed here for 4 days. The house is warm and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Grocery store is about 10 minutes away, and the slopes are about 15-20 minutes away. Quiet area on the edge of sugarloaf. There is quite a few stairs here.
