Dog-friendly mountain cabin w/ gorgeous natural surroundings & cozy atmosphere!

Looking for a cozy retreat that'll let you and your loved ones get away from it all? This small-dog-friendly cabin in Idyllwild is ideal for your needs, offering classic home comforts and access to some of the best mountain sights in southern California.

Located in the Pine Cove neighborhood just northwest of Idyllwild, this home for six's high elevation makes for nice, snowy winters. Reaching the home, which is built on a hillside, can be difficult in the winter and may require chains and four-wheel drive. But you'll be well-rewarded by the amazing forest views from the private deck on the upper level!

Wide window views to the outdoors and wood texturing throughout the home reinforce the sleepy cabin atmosphere. The living room has a cushy sectional sofa by the roaring fireplace, with more seating available in the loft upstairs. Between the natural beauty outside and entertainment ranging from WiFi and the TV's DVD and VHS player, and plenty of books and games, you've got plenty to do!

The kitchen has everything you need for lovely home-cooked meals, with all the basic appliances and ample granite counters. Take in your food at the nearby table for four, or dine by the grill on the deck when the weather is nice.

One dog under 25 pounds is welcome to stay, as well, for a small nightly fee.

Hikers, climbers, and fans of nature will be sure to love this home, which is just minutes away from the exhibits and seasonal activities of Idyllwild Nature Center. This home also offers easy access to several hiking trails, and is just six miles west of hiking and climbing up the famous Lily Rock. If you're feeling really adventurous, Mt. San Jacinto is just to the north!

I really enjoyed the glass windows and sun rays filtering through it during the day. The cabin is quiet at night and the bed upstairs was comfortable (firm bed) The cabin was clean. The first day when we entered the place there was a bit too much of febreze smell in the air (not a big fan of that smell) The movie selections are cool and we watched Lord of the Ring. Overall it’s a quiet and beautiful cabin experience. I didn’t want to go out.

Oh my word ! My husband and I wanted to get out of the city for my birthday/mothers day .. we’ve both never been to Idyllwild & we were BLOWN away to say the least. The board games, books, cds/cassettes, are just some of the AMAZING small touches. But really THAT VIEW!!!! Sent me over the edge. Beautiful to wake up and look out over huge pines with fog rolling in. One of the best places I’ve ever stayed.

This place was pretty good. The rooms were nice and clean. It was spacious, private and worked wonderfully. WiFi speed also good for download. This is perfect getaway from the everyday stressed of life.

I stayed here with a few friends and a dog. We had a great time in this cabin. It was more spacious than I expected! I was actually surprised that there were some poor reviews! The only bad thing I noticed was the two windows over looking the cabin wouldn’t lock in place so we weren’t able to open those. The neighbors were a bit cranky and yelled but I only noticed that as we were leaving so they didn’t cause my trip any problem. Having a dog was no problem as well, like I stated before the cabin was very spacious! I would definitely recommend staying here despite some poor reviews!

Love this home!
My second time here and I would definitely go back. It's perfect for a weekend or holiday break away from LA. Although it's a cozy cabin, the large ceilings make the great room feel big and the windows with the views of the trees are just gorgeous. We were very comfortable here with our daughter and dog and then one night adding two friends. The loft does get hot but the fan works great and we slept with the window open and nothing beats mountain air! All the kitchen appliances worked well, everything felt very clean and we enjoyed the games. There is no cable so make sure you have a computer if there are any sporting events you need to stream while you are there! The smart TV did not work for us to mirror but the wi-fi was decent. There are a lot of stairs so be wary of how much you pack and how many elderly people you bring.
It was about a 10 minute drive to town-- beautiful drive! - and there is a little gas station at the end of the road with firewood and bare essentials.
All in all, just love this cabin!

Love this place! I left a VHS box set of North & South for the next guest to enjoy.

Great cabin, loved the large loft! Cabin was very cozy and had everything we needed. It was perfect for our family and little dog for a getaway weekend. The TV screen/monitor was a little small, but that is the only item we felt could have been improved. The fireplace was great and warmed up the house quickly! Love the pine wood throughout and high ceilings. We would stay again!

We enjoyed our stay at Mountainside Memories and would stay there again. If you are a clean freak I would pass on this cabin. The bathtub was dirty and the throw blankets had lots of hair. Other than that, great place for a weekend getaway!

Beautiful. Lots of movies and games for family time. Brought four college (three ours and one friend) students and we had a wonderful time.
