Beautifully positioned in a fragrant, tree-lined meadow, this quintessential Idaho cabin offers the best of both worlds - rustic yet cozy, and tranquil and peaceful despite being only a 10-minute drive from the heart of downtown McCall. After a morning paddle on the nearby Lake Fork of the Payette River, you can relax among the pines on the massive deck (with a gas grill), watch the kids frolic in the expansive yard, or simply settle into the comfortable living area under timber-trussed wood ceilings and wood-paneled walls.

This tree-lined enclave is located six miles southeast of downtown McCall and the shimmering blue waters of Payette Lake, so you'll relish the peace and quiet away from the city in the midst of great fishing, rafting, kayaking, and hiking. If you're a golfer, the McCall Golf Club is six miles north. Enjoy even more outdoor fun up at Ponderosa State Park, or lounge on the sand at the ever-popular Davis Beach on the lake (both are seven miles north). When the snow moves in for the winter, you'll find wonderful skiing, snowboarding, and sledding at Brundage Mountain less than 16 miles north.

We loved our stay. Thank you!
Michaela D. May 2021
Overall we enjoyed our stay at this cabin, it was well cleaned and had everything we needed. The only downsides were the beds aren’t great (not the worst, just meh) and the shower temperature can be tricky to get just right. Loved the location just a short drive to town and if you like having close access to the wilderness/ forest that is also not far from the cabin.
Emily S. Apr 2021
Our family of 3 had a great time & plenty of room! Beautiful views tucked into a cute little neighborhood not far from town at all! We will definitely be returning.
Melissa G. Mar 2021
The location of the cabin is amazing, the views, the outdoors for the kids to play, wonderful! Cabin is well stocked, very cozy and perfect amount of room for 4 adults and 2 kids. We absolutely loved everything with one exception. I think the bed situation is the only area I would say needs some improvement. Beds alone were uncomfortable and the linens scratchy, not enough to deter us but I think with some work it would be 125% wonderful. Overall it was a great decision to stay here.
Lynnae F. Jan 2021
This was our third year in a row coming up to the Kearney Cabin. We love the views out the big windows and we never left the cabin the whole time we were there. We love our time there but this year was extremely frustrating. We have always loved the cabin. It is something we look forward to every year. I have a child with Down Syndrome and this has become his home away from home. That being said... There was dirty silverware/utensils that had been put back in the drawers, we couldn’t find any spoons to eat with until we searched in the laundry room to find a box of extras in there. When we climbed into bed there was dried food in the sheets and on the night stand. We didn’t have any towels to shower with until we happened to look in the dryer the second day we were there. We didn’t have enough soap to run the dishwasher while we were there. The flooring in the downstairs bathroom is coming and there are pieces of flooring that aren’t even attached. There is cobwebs everywhere. We were so sad that the cabin wasn’t as amazing as it had been the past two years. Not sure if we will be coming back next year or trying to find something else.
Manager response:
Hi, Lynnae! We appreciate you leaving your review with us and apologize for the housekeeping oversights you experienced. We will be discussing this with our staff and would have been happy to send housekeeping out right away to fix these things had we known. The cleaning fee for your stay has been refunded to you since we failed to meet our standards for your reservation. Thank you!
Jeff L. Jan 2021
This home was very clean and had everything we needed for long weekend ski trip. It was conveniently located between Tamarack and Brundage and very close to downtown McCall.
Daniel C. Jan 2021
This is our second visit to Kearney cabin and so glad we got to enjoy our stay during winter this time around. The view from the windows was great and the cabin itself was spacious and was equipped with everything we needed for our stay. We will definitely be back again
Misty K. Jan 2021
We loved the south facing windows and the views of snow covered trees. The cabin felt cozy and roomy. The loft full size bed is not ideal for adults as it was not very supportive. The second floor bedroom queen bed was very comfortable. We did not use the twin beds in the main floor bedroom. We plan to return.
Lori D. Jan 2021
The cabin itself was a nice building. the overall condition was very dirty. The kitchen and dining area had not been wiped down and there was food and drink residue on the surfaces. The home featured multiple cobwebs and the living room furniture was stained so badly I did not feel comfortable sitting. The master bedroom bedding was not overly clean.
Manager response:
Hi, Lori. Thank you for your review. We’re sorry to hear that the home was in this condition upon your arrival - please know that this is not the regular standard for our properties. We have worked closely with our local staff to address these concerns thoroughly and to ensure that our future cleanings live up to the Vacasa standard. We confirm a deep clean for the home is scheduled soon and we will address the sainted furniture. We apologize for any missteps, as it is never our intention to disappoint. We hope to have the opportunity to better impress you in the future.

Lovely place in a quiet area, house is spaceous and really comfortable.
Misty S. Sep 2020
Our family rented this cabin for the IMTUF ultra marathon at Jug Mountain Ranch this past weekend. It was the perfect. The location was quiet and peaceful, and the cabin was well stocked and comfortable. It made a great base camp.
Thank you for letting us use your lovely cabin!

Nice rural neighborhood location, close enough to town with a scenic drive around grazing cattle to get to the house. Quiet neighborhood though construction on a house next door started a few days before we left for home the third week of August. Log construction is nice and appropriate for the cabin/house but makes cell coverage iffy inside - better on the deck. The ad photos showed mowed grass around the house and we were thinking grandkids would have the area to play. We found the "grass" to be abound 18"-24" tall so playing was out. But some wildflowers and yarrow were present to help make up for the tall grass. It is a rural area. The neighbors warned us, there are bears in the area, not seen, so be careful with trash (a bear proof trash can is provided). The previous visitors had left several very smelly and liquid leaking bags of trash on the driveway. No bears but we did have a buck, and doe with fawn wander thru. A swallow nest was on the eave above the deck with the birds making frequent trips in and out to feed their young. The deck screen door does not fit tight and we (a granddaughter noticed a dark spot high on a wall that moved) found a bat in the house upon coming home one night. There was a tall ladder in the garage that made it possible to capture and remove the bat. The kitchen is very well equipped except for sauce pans - someone must bake a lot as there are many baking pans. The garage door is manual but it was nice to have the garage to park a car in. There was on adult bike with flat tires, no kids bikes as noted. Local Vacassa staff were very helpful and prompt when needed. The lock box code did not work when we arrived but local staff were quick to arrive and get us into the house. The smelly trash was rebagged and removed. The vacuum quit and was picked up and repaired promptly. There was on going work in the street to upgrade the power system. That was not a bother except when a backhoe hit and unmarked power line. Power went down for a short time but unfortunately, the modem died. Local staff worked with the owners to have a new modem shipped to the house. Along with the start of construction next door a lightning strike started a forest fire visible on the base of the mountains to the east. McCall is a Fire Fighting base so the response was quick and the was a steady stream of slurry bombers and water dropping helicopters. Interesting to watch as there was no direct threat from the fire but an unfortunate but natural event. We were there for almost a month so all of the events did not occur in a few days or single week. Two thumbs up for local Vacassa staff. Two big thumbs down for corporate Vacassa staff who never responded to emails and after a 2 1/2 hour phone call hold never called back to respond to reservation issues after the manager said she would call back with an answer. Nice cabin and would consider staying again only because there are staff close by to assist when needed.
Manager response:
Hi, Steve! We are so glad you stayed with us and apologize we were difficult to reach prior to your stay due to such a busy summer and limited staff due to COVID. The photos of the home were taken during the spring prior to natural growth taking place - there is no formal grass yard. We were happy to help you during your stay and appreciate you giving us the opportunity to correct the issues you encountered. Thank you!

We stayed in Kearney Cabin for two nights with our four kids and we loved it! It was just the right size for our family of six. It was very clean and had all of the basic things we needed! The drive out to the cabin was beautiful and I can only imagine that it would be even more beautiful in the winter months! We liked that it was outside of McCall but also an easy drive back into town. We would stay here again!
Sieanna A. Jul 2020
Amazing Cabin , we loved our stay in this cozy cabin . We had everything we needed and felt right at home. We will be definitely come back. Thank you for such a great experience.
Dave B. Jul 2020
We loved this place for our two day getaway. Only regret...we should’ve stayed longer. This cabin is exactly what the pics show. Great windows, great location (between McCall and Tammarck Ski resort and close to great hiking trails) and very clean. It has everything you need to relax and enjoy the great outdoors.
Jeremy And Stacy B. Jun 2020
We loved the location and the high vaulted ceilings.
Fred H. Mar 2020
Perfect size for a solo stay. Big enough to share with friends and family. Beautiful natural light and open. The natural world is on display. Well stocked with the necessities. Up to date appliances.
Fred H. Mar 2020
Great space for my winter adventure. The cabin was full of light thanks to the large south facing windows. Beautiful views of snow falling amidst the Aspens. Multiple deer walking around. The cabin even had toys for kids, a high chair, educational games, a pack-n-play and a baby gate to keep toddlers downstairs. There were books for children and adults. I would have preferred a few more spoons and the internet cut out with more more than one device. The appliances were wonderful. Social distancing during Covid 19 was not a problem.
David K. Dec 2019
Great place! We enjoyed a two day stay at Christmas time and it was awesome. Very clean and cozy cabin. Plowed the driveway which was very helpful. Perfect Location. Will return for sure!
Chris J. Dec 2019
The cabin was perfect for us. It was close to McCall and skiing. It was clean, comfortable, not too big or small, ......... in short if felt like home. I'd love to come back and stay in the summer and go hiking and fishing right up the road at Boulder Mountain. We came to rest and enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday, we left renewed and truly thankful for the stay.
Tim W. Oct 2019
Cabin was very well set-up. privacy was a plus, enjoyed our stay
Sarah B. Sep 2019
We love the location! The home is great, clean, welcoming, and feels like a home away from home!! We love it!!
Thomas D. Aug 2019
The stay made Holiday the perfect vacation. Everything was clean as in the piktures. This House I would buy immediately. Will come again.
Annette D. Aug 2019
We had such a wonderful time at this property, again. We came last year to McCall and stayed in the same house.....it was perfect.
Whitney C. Jun 2019
Great house! Very clean and well stocked. Loved the quiet and beautiful area! Would gladly stay again.
Kourosh A. May 2019
We loved every bit of it. The cabin was so clean and nice and had everything we needed. I would definitely rent again!
Travis P. Feb 2019
We had a very enjoyable stay at this cabin. It is very clean and well furnished. Though the kitchen is small, it had everything we needed to cook our own meals including an electric griddle and crockpot.

Only two things to be aware of:
1) The beds were a little smaller than expected and so one of our kids slept on a couch because only one could fit on the futon. However, it didn't put a damper on our stay at all.
2) It is a little further out of town than we expected. It is in a beautiful location but you are about 15 minutes out of McCall (south and east). It worked fine for us, but something to be aware of.

Again - awesome cabin and one we would not hesitate to stay in on another McCall vacation.
Marcie H. Dec 2018
This cabin had everything we wanted and more. We wanted something comfortable and homie that highlighted the outdoors. It did just that and more. We loved the big windows that looked out over the snow covered forest. It was very private with no immediate back neighbors. The kitchen was big and well equipped, the beds comfortable and we loved the little shampoos and soaps. We used the BBQ grill on the back deck for every meal...that was a huge plus! We enjoyed every minute of our stay and had fun playing in the snow. We would stay there again!
KEATON W. Nov 2018
This is a really nice cabin with everything you need to stay for several days. It is very conveniently located and we loved our stay there.
Elizabeth C. Sep 2018
this was the first time my husband and I went to McCall ever and we absolutely loved it! Staying in the Kearney cabin was fantastic. It was clean and we greatly appreciated the fact that it was stocked up on kitchen supplies. We have been recommending it to our family and friends and we can’t wait to come back next year!
Annette D. Aug 2018
The Kearney Cabin was perfect! We reconnected with family we hadn't seen in years. We hosted dinner on two occasions, everybody fell in love with the place. Our little nephews loved it so much they wanted to spend all their time with us at the cabin. We had two adorable four-legged furry visitors (I think they were the neighbors' dogs) who came by every morning to visit with us. The cabin was so comfortable, we have no complaints, no problems, no issues.....it was perfect. When we return to McCall, we would love to stay in the cabin again.
Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful house!
Nate B. Jul 2018
Loved this cabin. Would stay here again. Only complaint is the dryer didn’t work. Everything else was fantastic.
Manager response:
We apologize we did not realize the dryer was not functioning as it should. The repair has been scheduled. Thanks!
jaymee h. Jul 2018
The cabin was clean, the beds were comfy, the area is so close to McCall. It is the perfect cabin for a winter or summer getaway! Absolutely loved everything about this place!
Kara D. Jul 2018
The cabin was wonderful, had enough space for our family, nice, clean and so comfortable! The deck was large and nice. No neighbors right on top of you. Enough privacy to enjoy and relax with the family. Would definitely rent this cabin again!!
DAN B. May 2018
Beautiful and peaceful location. Definitely would stay there again.
Robin Marie Y. Feb 2018
We enjoyed the beautiful views that the Kearney Cabin offered, although with very few window coverings the flip side is lack of privacy. But the cabin itself is lovely and feels spacious and quaint all at once. The woods surrounding are vast, and yet there are other cabins near enough by that you don't feel too isolated. The heater system works well, but there is also a wood burning stove if you care to bring your own firewood. The little organ under the stairs was a happy surprise, as was the well stocked kitchen equipment. Getting the internet to connect was a challenging unhappy surprise, as was the loud unexpected blasts of noise from the water heater. But after a few phone calls the next day it connected, and as soon as we figured out where the sounds was coming from the water heater didn't bother us too much. Overall we enjoyed our time there and had a fun experience.
Cindy V. Jan 2018
Very clean. Wonderful views and accommodations! Easy to find and not too close to town. Would highly recommend staying at the Kearney Cabin for sure!
Michelle W. Jan 2018
The cabin was cozy and the wood burning stove was amazing. Had a big yard and we loved that we didn't look out to neighbors and had big windows to look out as it snowed the whole time. Would definitely stay in this cabin again.
Natalie G. Nov 2017
We loved the location of this cabin and also how family-friendly it was! We especially appreciated things like the booster seat and play pen that were available for us to use. Our four young kiddos had an absolute blast running around and playing. While we loved the house and the property/location, we found a lot of mouse droppings, especially in the kitchen (we had to pre-wash everything!), there was garbage scattered throughout the yard, and even though this was listed as a non-smoking rental, there were several cigarette butts on the upstairs deck. There were also a lot of dead flies, and a neighbor dog who came around every day. Our kiddos are very young, so it made me nervous to have a strange dog coming around constantly.

I would love to say that we were perfectly happy, but honestly for the price I would have expected it to be cleaner and the property more well cared for.
Manager response:
It was an unfortunate discovery that the guest prior to this visit had violated the non-smoking policy. We did our best to dispose of all cigarette butts and apologize for overlooking the deck. While the weather is turning cold it can become a common discovery of mice entering a home. We are always working toward eliminating this finding and we apologize for this discovery. We work hard to honor our home owner's requests to enforce polices of non-smoking and no pets. The ongoing challenge can be to thwart neighborhood dogs that may be roaming free. There is no leash laws to help us and at times the result can be dogs getting into trash and coming onto other homeowners' properties. We prefer an occasional deer; however, dogs and bears can be an issue here in the mountains.
Sarah L. Sep 2017
Overall we enjoyed our 5 night stay. Location is great. Very quiet. Spacious home.
The bed in the loft wasn't really a bed and was incredibly uncomfortable. I'm still sore today and it's been two nights since we were there. It's some homemade wooden boxes turned into a bed frame with a futon mattress topped with a mattress then topped again with another futon....???? Strange. There was two plastic chairs on the deck and a few folding chairs in the garage but that was all for "patio furniture". Very lacking there.
Ian P. Jul 2017
Such a beautiful and comfortable cabin! Thank you so much for the stay!
Lisa M. Jul 2017
We love the location of this house. That being said, there were some downsides for us. It just seemed like the house has not been kept up & could have been prepared better for guests... especially for the price paid. Thanks!
Jodi S. Oct 2016
This was a beautiful rustic cabin with a great porch. It was located near hiking trails and close to downtown McCall . The photos online did make it seem more private than it was, but I would still stay here again. The only neighbor that was pretty close was across the street however the porch and windows faced a different direction so it wasn't a problem. I did have to vacuum the place before we really settled in - lots of flies which I hope they will fix for future guests. Would recommend in colder months to keep the wood stove going to warm up the cabin for the night otherwise it was a bit cold. Bring firewood! It was very relaxing and a wonderful getaway.
Rhett S. Oct 2016
Awesome cabin
Cadence B. Sep 2016
We had a wonderful family vacation at this unique cabin. We got to explore a different part of McCall, ... a nearby trailhead is close by too, and we enjoyed the privacy the cabin offers.
Garrett C. Sep 2016
The furniture is fairly outdated. Beds were not very comfortable. The lighting on this property is crazy and for the life of us, we could not figure out how to turn the outside lights on. It is very open..including the bedrooms, so if you want privacy, say from your kids...this is not really the place for that. There is a new entryway, however it was not totally finished and you have to make a large step to get onto the entry deck or you would step in some holes. The dishwasher is the loudest one I have ever heard. At any rate, some inexpensive updating with lighting and furniture is needed here. We did love all of the windows!
Manager response:
We are sorry to see that there were some disappointments with this stay. This is an older cabin that the owner is slowly upgrading. The hole by the step has been filled, and the light switches have been labeled.
Michael & Christine B. Jun 2016
Beautiful location! Brand new outdoor grill! Books and games were great! TV and Wifi were great and worked! Close to McCall but not in town. Close to day-hikes. Very convenient for whatever you wish.
Dave B. Jun 2016
If you like rustic & funky, this cabin is for you.
Jana S. Apr 2016
5 friends and I stayed here for the weekend and had a BLAST! The cabin felt open and welcoming. All of us slept well on the beds. I loved having the windows to let the sunlight in. Normally I don't like to have blinds/curtains open at home, but the neighbors here aren't too close so it didn't feel weird. The showers worked great, lots of hot water and good water pressure. We felt right at home. I plan to come back with my husband this summer!
Andrew S. Mar 2016
We had a great time at this cabin. It had more than enough room for our family of 5.
Jaron S. Jun 2015
We had a wonderful time staying at this cabin and hope to return in the future
Luz D. Jun 2015
We definitely love this cabin and were very pleased with the location you are not in town but are about 5 minutes away from town. We loved the views from the large windows and just feeling like we were miles away from home in the natural beautiful wilderness. We were pleased to have the wifi because our phones didnt have service otherwise. We were also able to check in early which was great but because our phones didnt have service we didnt realize until we got service at a local restaurant that had wifi and our only concern was the doors they are very easy to open even if locked but besides that i would definitely be back here for another vacation maybe next time in the winter .
Tracy H. Mar 2014
The cabin has big windows overlooking the nice big property as well as a great deck. Perfect if you have kids or dogs that want to run around and explore. It is also nice to not have neighbors too close to capture the get-a-way feeling. This cabin also has all the basics and is pretty accommodating. We have stayed at cleaner cabins but this was nice overall. It is a pretty short drive into town (10 minutes). Nice neighborhood to walk around with nice neighbors.
Morgan G. Nov 2013
I've stayed in many places in McCall, but this is a new favorite. It is the true "cabin in the woods" with beautiful mountain views, peace and quiet, a warm wood stove, and an open and sunny layout. For the price this place is amazing. The family loved it too! The only drawback is that it doesn't have a hot-tub. If they added one, this would be the true "dream retreat." Overall things were in great condition, with a few little/typical glitches, such as flaky hinges on one of the cabinet doors, and dead battery in garage remote. But apart from those, this was wonderful.
Manager response:
Thanks for your great review. We'll see if we can get a hot tub added. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!
Marsha G. Aug 2013
This property was in a great location and a nice quiet environment. It is a little dated but clean. Might be a little over priced.
