Only thing I would change is I would stay longer. Love the quaint cabins - the ability to build a fire and soak in the jetted tubs. We will be back.
We loved staying at this cabin - you feel like you are in the woods. There is no internet, but that wasn't a problem since my boyfriend and I both had really good cell service. Also the king sized bed is one of the most comfortable beds that I've ever slept in. We will definitely be back!
Rustic, secluded, romantic, quiet.
Just what you need if this is what youre looking for.
Instructions were all clesr and timely.
A quick lil getaway for my birthday. Loved the atmosphere of of the cozy cabin. Enjoyed listing to the wind and staying toasty with the fireplace. Loved the huge jetted tub. The bed was so relaxing and comfy.
This place is so charming, quiet and peaceful. The environment is beautiful. Great place for a relaxing getaway.
My wife and I have stayed in the Kentucky cabin at least once a year since 2013. The changes made by Vacasa since they began managing a year or so ago have been considerable.
The old stick-free frying pan was replaced by a new stainless steel one in which everything, including bacon, welds itself to the pan's bottom with such tenacity it takes a chisel to get it off. We solved that problem by buying a T-Fal pan at the hardware store in Langley. We took that home last year and brought it with us when we stayed this July because we (correctly) assumed no one would replace the stainless pan with something useful.
The bedroom heater was dying a slow and apparently painful death a year ago, judging by the grinding noises it was making. We discovered that heater had been "fixed" by disconnecting it. Now, the living room heater's thermostat doesn't work so it has become manual, i.e., either on or off. On the plus side, the bathroom heater still works properly.
Upon our arrival this July we couldn't find the hair dryer that had always been in the top drawer of the bedroom dresser. We first called 855 968 9100 (Vacasa guest services), got a message about how important our call was, listened to elevator music for nearly a half hour and finally hung up in disgust. Then we called 800 448 1906 (Vacasa questions). Same message, same music, same story. Then, 800 544 0300, another Vacasa number. Same, same, same. Then we called 503 345 9399, a local number, and after only 15 minutes a real person answered. We were informed we would have known there was no hair dryer had we only looked at the list of amenities on the Kentucky cabin web site that plainly does not list a hair dryer. Our mistake. so, we bought a hair dryer at the hardware store in Langley. If you rent this place, don't look for our hair dryer because we took it home with us, along with our fry pan.
The next day there was no water, just sucking noises from the faucets. Fearing the worst, I asked my wife to quick look up the Kentucky web site on her smart phone to see if running water was listed among the amenities. To our horror we found it was not. Nevertheless, we called the 503 number and, after the standard 15-minute wait, reported the problem. In what may have been a miracle, our water was restored in short order.
Lest you think the Kentucky cabin web site is a font of accurate information, be advised it is not. The site shows a picture of the front of the cabin with lush forest ferns on the right and pretty rhododendrons on the left. All that foliage is gone. The ground where it grew is now barren except for a thick layer of mulch one can only assume is to prevent future growth. There is no hot tub, no WiFi and no internet. There isn't even a bath mat or a fly swatter, let alone a hair dryer.
That isn't the worst of it. Judging from the signage festooning the cabin's walls and book shelves admonishing renters not to trash the place, the clients Vacasa seems trying to attract may be only marginally civilized. We experienced during our stay; parents screaming at each other, shrieking children running about and large dogs leaving piles of what large dogs leave. Gone are the deer, the ducks, the peace and quiet and, I'm sorry to say, us.
Manager response:
We would like to sincerely apologize this guest's experience was not what they had expected. Please be assured that we have followed up with an inspection to address the many concerns listed including the heater, the thermostat, the hair dryer, the cookware and the water pump. Being a rustic, historic property there are a number of systems that need upgrades and maintenance from time to time. We will work with the owner to address any oversights in supplies as they are extremely receptive to feedback and take great pride in their property. Thank you!
We spent 2 nights in the Kentucky cabin. We were blessed that we were the only ones in the are at the time. So it was very peaceful and private. The cabin had a very cool rustic vibe, and it was great with our dogs.
This is such a great find. Lovely little cabin- very romantic for a weekend away. I can’t wait to stay here again!
The cabin was a beautiful getaway for me and my new husband. The tub was amazing and I never slept better. The king size bed was incredibly comfortable.
The cabin was rustic and secluded in a grove of trees. Some updating is recommended.
Quiet, woodsy surroundings let you relax.
Wonderful location. Very private. Great bed.
Quaint little cabin in the woods. Well equipped for all your needs. Quiet and private. Just what my husband and I needed to unwind from the stresses of our lives.
Absolutely loved our stay. The cabin has 3 others in the area so you’re not completely secluded but still felt like you had your own privacy. Huge jet tub and a nice King bed which was very soft but still amazing. Lots of games to choose from and the fireplace is lovely. Would definitely stay at these cabins again.
The nicest place I've stayed in years! Will be back.
We spent 4 nights for out Christmas vacation in the cabin, very cute, perfect size for 2 people, and the 2 inches of snow made it postcard perfect. We would definitely stay hear again.
The Kentucky Cottage was a cozy, uniquely relaxing spot in the woods. I’ve been before and have returned. The fluffy bed, stone fireplace, wooden log frame cabin, and decor coupled with modern amenities made it a perfect retreat. I will be back.
Excellent experience. Nicest place we've ever stayed. Ambiance beyond expectation
Our time in the cabin was perfect. As soon as we walked in we fell in love. The cabin and the surrounding grounds were beautiful. The cabin felt like home and the bed was so incredibly comfortable. The jet tub was fabulous. We came up to visit family and had my uncle and grandmother come to the cabin to carve pumpkins and watch scary movies with a big roaring fire. It was perfect. We will never stay anywhere else in the future. We can't wait to come back. Thank you
A quiet retreat in the great northwest woods in a picturesque setting. A fire in the fireplace. Rocking chairs on the porch for coffee in the morning. There were even deer playing in the front yard. What else could anyone want?
The cabin is very comfortable and in a very quiet serene area. Great place for a romantic getaway.
My boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay...Very peaceful. Wooded and quiet.
Nice pleasant place to stay. Quiet and peaceful.
The Kentucky was bigger than expected inside!
Exactly what we needed. Perfect location, beautiful setting and comfortable accommodations. We will come back - late summer and winter.
We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful cabin in the woods. The Rhododendrons were blooming all around us and the Lupine was gorgeous as well. The weather cooperated with most of our plans. Long days driving to North Cascades and Olympic National Parks but worth it!
We loved our stay. The cabin was fantastic, and the setting was gorgeous. We will be back!
If you're looking for a weekend getaway with your significant other I would highly suggest this spot.
The serenity and peace and quiet was the greatest escape!
