Lakeview home w/ deck, outdoor fireplace & sunset views - steps to sandy beach!

Enjoy a memorable family getaway on the shores of Sebago Lake Basin at this Windham cottage, a renovated Maine retreat with a deck that overlooks the lake, an outdoor fireplace, and an expansive piece of property just a few steps from a deeded beach.

This charming summer cottage sits on nearly an acre of land, creating a wonderful space for family gatherings and tented events. From this spot on the eastern banks of Sebago Lake Basin, you'll be less than a mile from Walmart, Hannaford Supermarket, and other shops and restaurants in the heart of North Windham.

Recently renovated and relatively new to the rental market, this cottage is classic and comfortable, with hardwood floors and bright white walls. Kick off your shoes by the door and take a seat on one of the plush futons, where you can spend the afternoon reading, playing board games, or watching cable shows and Roku favorites (if you have your own account) on the wall-mounted flatscreen TV.

You'll feel right at home each morning as you fry bacon and flip pancakes in the full kitchen, which offers modern appliances and an eat-in table for four that is bathed in natural light. Read the comic section with your kids, use the high-speed WiFi to post a few photos of your vacation, and grab your bathing suits and towels to prepare for a day on the lake.

Walk one minute down the road to find the beach and a tranquil buoyed swimming area on the shores of Sebago Lake Basin. You can sunbathe, take a dip, or launch your own kayak for a morning paddle (this cabin has deeded rights to a boat ramp and mooring buoys for boats), returning home to light the gas grill and set the two picnic tables for an al fresco lunch on the private deck.

Linger outdoors to play tag with your children, read in the sunshine, and watch spectacular lakefront sunsets through the trees. You'll even have an outdoor fireplace to keep you warm as you stargaze, roast marshmallows, and tell ghost stories late into the night.

New Marblehead Lodge will accommodate as many as nine guests, and a private washer and dryer are also available. Have a larger group? Genes Lodge, right next door, can also be rented to accommodate even more people.

Whether you're a resident Mainer or an annual visitor to this beautiful pocket of New England, you'll fall in love with the charm and convenience of Windham. When you're not swimming in the cool waters of Sebago Lake Basin, you'll be just two miles south of the aquatic playground and other amusements at Seacoast Adventure, and even closer to Smitty's Cinema for rainy days and fun-filled nights.

Take a morning drive 14 miles north to Sebago Lake State Park, where you can fish, hike through woodlands and bogs, and lounge on sandy beaches in the park's 1,400-acre expanse. And just 17 miles south is the center of downtown Portland, offering guests easy access to the historic Old Port and acclaimed local restaurants such as The Honey Paw and Eventide Oyster Co.

You'll be talking about this summer in Maine for years to come - don't wait to book this lovely Windham vacation cottage!

Enjoyed our weekend away with a group of friends. Got to spend time on the lake that's a short walk down, and enjoyed cooking and eating on the deck at night. Wonderful location, convenient to Portland. Great amenities and supplies at the house, weren't wanting for anything!

We enjoyed our star for the week. Plenty of space!

PROS: The property being on the lake is definitely what makes this property a big hit. We all enjoyed swimming and paddle boarding on the lake. The lake was beautiful, clean and not crowded.

The property is great for large groups as there is also a separate little cottage - so everyone has their space while spending time together.

CONS: The property itself is kind of outdated and the bathroom is too small. Bedrooms were hot and stuffy.

WE enjoyed our stay.

The best thing going for this property is its location. It is very close to a beautiful lake, with a small private beach. The home is convenient to Portland, Freeport, etc. and there are many shops and restaurants nearby. The home has a number of quirks I wish I had known about in advance. There is no dishwasher. The bedroom windows do not open. Nor do the windows on this enclosed sunporch. The laundry is located downstairs, requiring tenants to go outside, go downhill, and unlock the basement in order to access the laundry. The cabin has been recently painted and updated and is in a nice location, but I wish I had known about these quirks in advance.

A group of 9 of us comfortably fit in this great lodge. Very convenient location to nearby stores and access to a nice beach on the basin.

Our group said, "We would love to stay in this same home again when back in the area." This home is clean and fresh and overlooks the beautiful basin of Sebago Lake. Look out the many windows or sit on the deck and you can see the lake through the trees offering the home privacy with a view. Walk down just a short bit and relax on a sandy association beach which felt like a PRIVATE beach while we were there in August. Sebago Trails Paddling Company is just 5 minutes away and will outfit you with paddle boards or kayaks and has the friendliest service either loading the boats on your vehicle or delivering them for you. This home affords you with the feel of the country with basic shopping needs within 5 minutes. Great owner and manager...friendly and responsive.
