Air conditioned cottage w/ patio & yard - blocks to beach, shops & restaurants!

Explore the stunning beaches, bluffs, and coves of La Jolla at this lovely three-bedroom home, a bright, beachy cottage with a brand new central air conditioning system, a private back yard and patio, and a wonderful location just a few blocks from shops, restaurants, and the beach.

Conveniently situated in a quiet, established neighborhood, this comfortable cottage sits only six blocks east of beautiful Windansea Beach. When you're not surfing, boogie boarding, or soaking in the sunshine, you'll be seven blocks south of the shops and restaurants in the Village of La Jolla, one mile south of La Jolla Cove and the Children's Pool, and two miles west of La Jolla Natural Park.

The living space has been meticulously maintained and updated, with lovely wood floors and white walls and furnishings that enhance the natural sunlight. Challenge your kids to a board game at the coffee table, scroll through the cable offerings on the flatscreen TV, and bask in the comfort of the brand new (2017) central air conditioning system on even the warmest of summer days.

Wake up each morning to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee in the kitchen, where you'll find plentiful cabinet storage, a gas range, and double ovens to make cooking a breeze. Blend yourself a fresh fruit smoothie, sit down with the newspaper at the two-person breakfast bar, and share a homemade meal with your family in the light-filled dining room for six (a high chair is also available).

Leave the plates in the dishwasher and use the WiFi to plan a few adventures for the day ahead. You can borrow the provided beach chairs and boogie board to ride the waves at Windansea Beach, or walk into the Village of La Jolla to grab lunch on the patio at Cody's. You'll also have a front lawn, a fenced back yard and patio, a gas grill, and plentiful al fresco seating for barbecues under the stars.

And as your bathing suits and beach towels spin in the private washer/dryer each evening, you and your kids can pile on the sectional sofa to play cards, swap stories, or pop a family favorite into the DVD player.

With three bedrooms and two full bathrooms, Sand Dollar in Paradise will accommodate six people (including a maximum of four adults). The master suite is full of light, offering a queen-size bed, a flatscreen TV, and a bathroom with a stall shower. The second bedroom features a queen-size bed and an attached bathroom with a shower (which also opens to the hallway), and the third bedroom has a pair of twin beds and a flatscreen TV. A Pack 'N Play is also provided.

Beloved among surfers and beach-going families, the picturesque shores of La Jolla are a jewel of the Southern California Coast. Show off your surfing skills at Windansea Beach, catch a glimpse of the playful local seals that gather near the Children's Pool, and go snorkeling or diving in La Jolla Cove in search of rays, leopard sharks, and other types of fascinating sea life.

Take a morning hike in La Jolla Natural Park, or head 15 miles south for the day to enjoy the attractions of downtown San Diego. Take in a summer Padres game at Petco Park or spend an afternoon at the San Diego Zoo, which is known worldwide for its exotic animal population and incredible wildlife habitats.

Very clean, nice quiet, safe location. The beds were not firm and were difficult to sleep on for me.

The street was very quiet and we had no problem parking, even later in the evening. We could walk to the different beaches, restaurants, and the drive to Balboa Park or Mission Bay was not bad at all.

Great location, very nice neighbors, nice beds and lining. Overall it was a good stay, we enjoyed family vacation, but the house is a bit old and needs a renovation.

The house was just perfect for the multi-generational group that was traveling together.
Plenty of space for the grandparents in their 80's, and parents in their 50's and a 23 year old.
Great open spaces for together time. The side was a little gem. Easy walk to the beach!

Great location - very close to beach and only about a mile to La Jolla cove and restaurants/shopping. House is cozy and well maintained. Overall very good experience.

We were between staying here and at a hotel in La Jolla. We are so happy we choose this house instead. With just the 3 of us it was great to be able to enjoy some time alone (adults only) at night on the outdoor porch or in the living room. Our daughter was thrilled to have her own room as well. We thought the house was super cute. Easy parking, clean, great location. Highly recommended.

The house is older. The pictures are a bit deceiving, because it doesn't look that way when looking at the pics. The AC was new however didn't work in one of the bedrooms and had to use a fan. When we tried plugging in the fan it didn't work, neither did the other two fans we tried. House also did not have the play yard that we were told it would have. Megan was great at troubleshooting these two things.
House is older so not many outlets in bedrooms for charging phones or iPads- only enough for lamp and TV. TV in master is in the closet. The shampoo and conditioner provided is terrible, made a rats nest out of my hair and luckily my inlaws brought some and showered again to fix it. The patio set outside of kitchen area is weathered and either need replaced as to not get splinters sitting on it or needs at the very least cushions. Other patio set near BBQ was covered with bird poop and no umbrella so we didn't use it.
One Neighbor across the street with kids was super nice and told me about places to see and beaches appropriate for kids. The beach that is walking distance is NOT a beach for kids- waves and current/tide is too strong. Other neighbor directly across the street seem irritated that this house is a rental, I tried smiling and wanted to say hello but didn't get so much as a glance when he drove away. The last full day and night we were there that neighbor parked his Mercedes right in front of the house - even though his driveway was open- leaving us able to only park one car in front and second car down the street. I thought this was very rude. I walked over to say hello and to mention moving his car, and even though door was open, he did not come out to respond to my door bell ring or me saying "hello" into the house.
And then for check out the sign asks you to wash the sheets, which is fine, I've heard of this before at previous homes I've rented, but please provide laundry detergent! We had to go buy some.
Overall inside is ok- furnishings are nice, outside is ok, but you can tell it's one of the houses that hasn't been updated, that it's a rental. Windows and screens seem original (1940's?) although AC worked awesome. There is no remote for kids room (room with 2 twin beds), and one of the remotes in main room didn't have a back and we didn't know and batteries fell out and we didn't know until my one year old came crawling around the corner with something in her mouth- A BATTERY!!! Bathrooms & rooms could use updating. At least to warrant the $1300 we paid for 3 nights. I think way overpriced. If you are looking for a basic home, this is it. For kids it is ok. It also sits on a street that's on a hill, so if you have younger ones it can be tough to let them outside to play. We didn't use backyard as back area had a large bush with large white flowers which were pretty but had TONS of bees- almost like a hive was in there.
Manager response:
We are disappointed to see this guest did not have a more enjoyable stay. Yes, the house is older with fewer outlets, but everything in the pictures is current and accurate. The fans in the house are working, and we have reached out to the owner about replacing the patio furniture. The ripped screen will soon be repaired by our handyman and a new cable remote has been placed in the home. Thanks!

We loved everything about this beautiful home. From the very well maintained landscaping to the fabulously styled home, it was a perfect choice for our family. I can't wait until next time!

Nice place to stay in La Jolla. Easy access to the beach. a little walk (7 blocks or so) to restaurants. Everyone is so friendly!! I'm glad we didn't have a car as parking is near impossible near the house.

It is stated in the add that it is a quiet neighbourhood. Well, we had an unpleasant experience on out arrival on Sunday evening. The neighbour in the backyard had very lourd music until 8:30 pm.
It is stated in the add that there are 2 parking spots, but in practrice there is only parking on the street.
Manager response:
We apologize for any confusion with the parking information this guest received. There is street parking only which is why we ask that guests bring a maximum of two cars for any given reservation. Thank you!
