Love this place! So cute. Right on the Salmon River. So nice sitting at the firepit while my kid was in the river. Would stay again.

Everything was wonderful. Fireplace didn't work. All wished for 11 to 12 pm checkout. Never have one that early

The cabin was cozy and well appointed. The river was beautiful and mesmerizing. Would book again.

We had the most special time at the cabin on the Salmon - four of us and our dog stayed there for 3 weeks and can’t say enough wonderful things about the cabin, the natural environment, the area, and the service!
The cabin is extremely charming and cozy, designed for hanging out with loved ones. We appreciated the story behind the cabin - the owner rehabbed it along with a big group of friends - and could feel the love that went into it! In particular we loved the living room, complete with a gas-powered “wood burning” stove and comfy couch and chairs. We had the best nights’ sleeps in the cabin because you can leave the windows open without having neighborhood noises, just the flowing river which is about 30 feet from the house right alongside the backyard. We loved hanging out along the river in the backyard complete with a fire pit and stumps to sit on, and also on the porch with a lovely porch swing.
The natural environment around the house is magical. Mossy, massive trees alongside mountains and rivers make it feel enchanted. Best of all the house is on the doorstep of national forest and wilderness areas. We ran or hiked most days because there are pretty much infinite trails and charming backroads under five minutes away! We also enjoyed walking on the roads and golf course towards Welches, another way to get beautiful views.
The house is a very quick drive to the Welches grocery store and a shopping center with a liquor store, coffee shop, bakery, and more. Staying at the cabin we felt like we were in the middle of nature off the grid, but at the same time enjoyed being able to easily get what we needed in Welches, in Sandy (about 20 mins driving, includes Safeway and more shops), and even Portland about an hour away.
Finally, we were very impressed with the service and hospitality from Vacasa during our stay. The Vacasa team helped us upgrade our internet speed, replace our propane tank, and fix our fireplace all with remarkable response time even on weekends and nights and during coronavirus.
We treasure our memories of being in this cabin and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a magical experience!

The cozy cabin is a great mountain cabin right on the Salmon River. Stayed 4 nights. Kitchen had great appliances and living area good seating. Water heated up quickly and the cabin stayed toasty warm with the wall heaters. Never turned on the propane stove. I would love to stay there in the summer or fall as well. Grocery store super convenient. Bridge work all done so very quiet.
Things that need to be addressed:
- the mater bedroom needs 1-2 luggage stands - there is no where to put suitcase and no dresser or closet
- there are no wine glasses
- the silverware is very old and not complete. Very inexpensive to buy a new set for 8.
- no containers to microwave food in - a 3 Pyrex set would do the trick
- compared to other rentals in the area at this price point this cabin is missing key amenities- cable, washer/dryer and dishwasher
- the biggest reason and maybe only reason I will think twice before coming back to this cabin is the road. The potholes are unacceptable. Owner should consider spending some money to fix the 1/8 mile of road. You can not take a sedan down the road. I had an SUV and it was still tricky
The cabin has a great history and is well loved. I will consider it in future!
Thank you for providing us with you feedback and helping us improve for our future guests. We look forward to hosting you again soon.

I wanted to cry when we had to leave! Wasn’t ready to go home. So relaxing and beautiful.

Kitchen was well-stocked, holiday decorations were appreciated and the stove kept things cozy.

A little off the beaten path, but this cabin truly IS cozy. You can tell there was a lot of love put into the renovation of the home. The maps provided by Google perfectly navigated us to the cabin situated on the picturesque Salmon river. We have already recommended this cabin to our daughter and son-in-law. It's likely if we are ever back in central Oregon on vacation we will stay at this gem of a cabin.
Marcina D.Dec 2019
We enjoyed our stay in the Cozy Cabin. It was a fun weekend spending time with family, playing games, reading, and exploring the area. We chose to not use WiFi or TV and ground ourselves in each other's company. Beautiful view of the river that we can imagine would be enjoyable in warm weather too. The cabin is close by to snow activities and excellent food (check out Zig Zag Inn. Phenomenal pizza!)
The only downsides: missing pieces from games (we made due with coins from pockets), dirty or broken kitchenware or dishes- which we assume were from prior guests?, and finally large amounts of dust & cobwebs on ceiling and light fixtures. Our family is all about rustic, trust me, however when paying a healthy amount for a get away... this mom does not want to have to clean before starting her vacation.;-)
Thank you for the warm welcome and sharing your cabin with us!
We are happy you enjoyed your trip. Thank you for your valuable feedback. The manager has discussed the cobwebs and supplies with the housekeeping team to be sure it is ready for future guests. We hope to see you again soon!
Not only was the river beautiful and the wandering deer lovely but the adorable cabin was inviting and peaceful, clean and easy to cook and share a meal in. It was just perfect.
Annette M.Oct 2019
Being right on the River is a wonderful relaxing part of this cabin. Very relaxing nicely arranged cabin. Had everything we needed.
Bryce R.Sep 2019
This cabin is situated right along the Salmon River. It was a beautiful view. Chairs are situated right in front of the river so you could just relax and read a book while listening to the river. We really enjoyed our stay.
Christine M.Sep 2019
The cabin was just what we needed for a weekend away. The location wasn’t so far off the beaten path that we couldn’t easily get to amenities like the grocery store. It’s perfectly situated for hiking in the summer & skiing in the winter.
Unfortunately, there’s a bridge being built right next to the cabin. Thankfully the crew was only there on the weekdays and we could only faintly hear it inside, but We couldn’t really enjoy the outdoor space like we wanted in the morning. There was a lot of construction noise.
james m.Sep 2019
We had a wonderful stay beautiful location the only
negative was the dog smell.
Thank you for the feedback. We made the manager aware. Since this is a pet-friendly property, sometimes that happens.
We hope we can host you again soon!
Karen Z.Sep 2019
Cozy and simple. Loved the sound of the river.
Ronald K.Aug 2019
My wife and I stayed here while attending a wedding at the resort and had a great time. The cabin is in a really beautiful location complete with some great river frontage. Hopefully we'll get the chance to stay there again!
Paule M.Aug 2019
The cabin was cute and comfortable. We enjoyed being so close to the river. However, the outside needs some serious TLC. The deck, the outdoor furniture and the gril were very dirty; unappealling and uninviting. Also, I understand construction work has to be done, but I would've appreciated a warning about the bridge being redone and being so close to the cabin. The workers started working at 4 am the first night we were there.
Thank you for your review! Our housekeeping staff will be focusing on the outside of the home and additional training is happening to avoid this in the future. We would have been happy to reclean during your stay had you reached out. The bridge work is out of our control and when they work on it; however, we will update the home notes that construction could be happening during a stay. We hope to see you again!

We spent a long weekend . Great place to relax
Jeffrey F.Jun 2019
This rustic cabin on the Salmon River was just what we needed to start our vacation in Oregon and Washington. It was just as promised. We were able to pick up a few supplies right down the road in Welches. I grilled steelhead, bacon wrapped filets, and pork chops on the grill that was provided. Our 14 year old daughter had a great time photographing plants and wildlife around the river.
We all enjoyed our stay.
Mara S.Jun 2019
We absolutely loved spending the first part of our honeymoon in this cabin. It was amazing, peaceful, and romantic. The cab was perfect for what we wanted!!
Jason M.Mar 2019
Fantastic long weekend skiing Mt. Hood from here. ( Only a 20 minute drive)on
Rented4 Chevy Silverado, definitely needed in the winter for the short drive on the private road and getting up the mountain. Cabin is cozy, river views and a gas fireplace.
Shervin H.Mar 2019
We had a wonderful family stay here, saw deer playing in the snow, and generally had a very cozy time of it.
melanie k.Jan 2019
The cabin was very clean, the decor is adorable and we found the use of space/ furnishings perfect for 4 adults. The location is a great base for hiking or skiing.
The bridge construction is literally right next door and will continue all year. They may stop for the salmon run, ODOT might have information on that. If you’re hoping for a quiet weekday in the cabin this is not a good place for you, work runs Monday- Friday 7-5. The queen mattress is at the end of its life, the singles are topped with a memory foam pad.

cozy cabin on the river, close to attractions
Deborah P.Oct 2018
It was truly a cozy cabin! Very charming and comfortable! Loved hearing the river from the cabin. Thank you for sharing this treasure!
Walter E.Sep 2018
The cabin sits on a lovely, quiet (except for bridge construction), peaceful spot on the Salmon River. It's clear to see that it is loved and cared for, well appointed and comfortable for its guests.
Jeff L.Aug 2018
Beautifully finished home, clean and comfortable, gorgeous setting on the Salmon.
Shelly L.Jul 2018
So quaint, peaceful, yet convenient to the store and restaurants. If you're in the area, stay here!
Neil H.Jul 2018
A Canine Heaven as well.
Rebecca G.Jun 2018
The location for this cabin is ideal. The home is very well appointed and decorated and has just what you need to cook and enjoy your stay. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend anyone stay here!
Heidi S.Jun 2018
What’s not to love? The location is great. The setting is great. The cabin is comfortable and cozy. The beds were so very comfortable. It was very well supplied/equipped with anything needed. I would stay here again without hesitation.
Danielle L.Jun 2018
Adorable place with gorgeous view of the river and very serene. Only bummer was several lights were burned out and not replaced. Also beds were suuuper high off the ground, really comfy but not the best if you have little ones with you. All in all great place though!
Lauren H.Apr 2018
Came here for a girls weekend and the cabin was just about perfect for us. We loved the sound of the river rushing by. Dinner at Rendezvous was delicious and we made use of the kitchen for all other meals.
JENNIFER A.Mar 2018
This cabin is cozy and charming with a true woodsy, cabin feel and lovely views of the river. We liked it so much we came back for a second visit. Plenty of room for our family of four. Neat and clean. Feels private once you're inside, although there are other cabins next door and across the road. The cabin is right on the river, with a covered back porch facing the water. Could use a few more kitchen basics and the queen bed is a bit hard, but otherwise great.
Justine L.Feb 2018
I would definitely stay here again.
Jo Ellen S.Feb 2018
The owners restored this sweet cottage with love and attention to detail. We had to smile about the height of the beds — smart use of small spaces, very nice linens and comfortable. We would definitely rent the place again. Close access to hiking trails — and the river running immediately in front of the porch. Warm and pleasant inside during a non-stop rainy weekend.

This is a lovely cottage on the Salmon River.
Rebecca S.Dec 2017
There's a cozy little cabin at the end of a gravel road with amazing views of the Salmon river. Nice layout with lots of seating and a small gas fireplace that looks like wood but without the hassle. Kitchen had good utensils and everything was cleaned and maintained. Dont know why bed is so high and it's a bit of a squeeze to get around but bed was comfy and black out curtains were superb. Windows worked so well I had to crack them open to hear the river. Lulled me to sleep. Only real pet peeve was the air fresheners they used which were completely unnecessary. Hopefully they don't plug them back in. All in all a great location, cute cabin and enjoyable stay.
Laura G.Dec 2017
The view and location of property are really great! The Welches area has a lot of really run down buildings so I was worried upon arriving but the home itself was in good condition. The porch is so cute, it was too cold for us to enjoy it much but I bet it's amazing in the summer. The furnishings need a bit of updating and the beds are really weirdly high. The queen bed is tricky because you cannot walk around the bed the room is too small. The fire was amazing, and the view was completely Serene and beautiful. The only weird thing that happened was when we were arriving, my son unbuckled his seat belt and we had to pull over to correct this and some man came out of a nearby property and asked us why we were there and if we were cops and then proceeded to try to sell us lumber, it was supper weird. I guess my advice is don't pull over on the side of the road in Welches :)
Overall we enjoyed ourselves very much and glad we chose this property to celebrate my husband's birthday!!
Elizabeth W.Nov 2017
This is a rustic cabin so no cable television, dishwasher or washer and dryer but it is adorable and in a private location we would stay again.
Elizabeth A.Nov 2017
we loved the small cabin for 2 adults and our dogs. Felt very comfortable in the cold wet season. Only thing to request is that the beds be lowered to a more standard size, they were way too high off the ground. We left a gift of a jigsaw puzzle of a cabin on the river for others to enjoy. We spent a lot of time around the kitchen table as well as in front of the gas fireplace stove. Thank you so much.
Stuart M.Oct 2017
This cabin is perfect for a romantic getaway or a small family of 3 or 4 to take in all that the Mt. Hood area has to offer.
The attention to detail was impressive at the cabin - the kitchen had all the amenities you could ask for.
The property manager was prompt and thorough with all communication.
We had a great visit and would stay again anytime!
Shelley Z.Oct 2017
Great destination for fun and relaxing getaway with friends! We felt welcomed from the time we moment we arrived.
Chris W.Aug 2017
Really loved staying there. A healing peaceful place especially the gurgling river always on the move forever changing. Autumn must be beautiful. The wildlife was great
Richard D.Aug 2017
We loved every minute of our stay. The cabin is well appointed with comfortable beds, furnishings and kitchen equipment.
The river time is absolutely amazing. The location provides a forest feel but is conveniently close to shopping and restaurants in Welches. We will be back!
Davina K.Aug 2017
We had a nice time and thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful and well-stocked cabin. It's a very sweet place. Only feedback-the bed was a little too high and the mattress a little too hard.
Lily B.Aug 2017
Perfect location tucked away by the river. Added bonus - momma deer w/ 3 babies. Cabin was cute, cozy, well equipped.
Katie B.Mar 2017
We had a great experience with this rental and could not have been more pleased. The cabin was very clean and inviting. If you stay in the winter, do not be alarmed by how chilly it is when you enter that cabin. We were nervous at first but after following the instructions on how to best heat the cabin, it was warm know no time. In fact, it got so warm that even though we turned off all heat when we went to bed, it was still super warm the next morning and we didn't even need to turn the heat back on. You will not be disappointed by the surroundings or amenities available. We only wish we had been able to stay longer! The only issue I would mention to potential guests is that the little road leading to the cabin had many large potholes. (Granted we stayed during a rainy season and it is not necessarily something that can be prevented, just wanted others to know as some smaller cars may find d it difficult to navigate.) But we would definitely recommend the property and would rent it again if we were to take an overnight trip to the area again. Great property! Great views! Great owner!
Lindsay S.Feb 2017
We booked the cabin for a 'girls weekend' for some R&R. The location of the house cannot be beat, and the cozy cabin feel is wonderful. This house was perfect for a winter getaway, staying inside cozy while listening to the river out the back window. We will definitely be going back in the summer. As others commented - the addition of a coffee pot would be nice, but it's literally the only thing missing. It's not listed, but they do have a blender and crockpot for your use. It wasn't listed, so we brought our own, but know we won't need to do that next time. Easy access to the mountain, and provides a getaway from the crowds of government camp. Thriftway just down the road, along with a Ski/Snowshoe rental place. Didn't want to leave!!

Directions and communication were easy and clear, home was delightful & warm, with everything we needed. Sweet location on the river, with deer footprints in the snow! Easy access to snow parks and groceries/restaurants. We loved it! Celebrated our son's 10th birthday here with sledding/skiing all day and cozied up around the fire in the evening. Windows all around made this place extra special. Beds comfy and everything well maintained and clean. Thank you!
Rachel G.Sep 2016
My husband and I stayed for a long weekend at the Cabin on the Salmon and just adore it there! We got everything by way of weather -- rain one day, chilly fall day the next and HOT the next day. The cabin was perfect for hunkering down inside by the gas fireplace or sitting in the sun by the river. So calm and peaceful -- you feel like your out in the woods, but civilization is just down the road. Lots to do on the mountain, but even more fun to return back to the cabin which is modernly rustic. We did not want to leave by the end of our time and wished we had booked it for longer!
Camelia M.Jul 2016
This cabin is so quaint and charming. My boyfriend and I spent a night in here and we had a great time. It was so beautiful to be by the river and have a fire at night. We loved the privacy and the relaxing setup. Totally recommend it!
Julie C.May 2016
Our stay at Cabin on the Salmon was everything that we hoped it would be! This sweet little cabin felt larger than it actually was! Very clean and comfortable! The riverfront views were absolutely breathtaking! Can't wait to go back!
