Recent Graeagle vacation rental reviews

Had a wonderful stay at the cliff house in Graeagle for our friends 60th birthday. We took advantage of the many great golf courses and found some excellent fishing spots. Caught several rainbows right in front of the house. River access is a bit of a hike but the trail is well maintained and there is also access at the nearby bridge. House is a little dated but everything works fine and the views are amazing. Had a storm roll through on the last night and enjoyed watching it from the porch. Had several meals out and everyone was super helpful and accommodating. Check in advance as several places required reservations but all made space and got us in. There was a strong smell of kerosene from the heater that the owner may want to check out. All in all we had a great experience and will be back for one of our next golf/fishing trips.

Wow, such a perfect mountain getaway! Our family loved the amazing views and homey feel of this cabin! The kids were obsessed with all the toys available to play with - they are already scheming about when we can come back for another trip.

Loved this house. Throwback to the 70's....but super comfortable and had everything we needed for a great stay. Kitchen well-equipped. Outside grill was clean and ready to use. Plenty of deck seating and a great view of the River. Corn-hole game was a nice touch. Close to everything that's awesome about the Lost Sierras. Would book again.

Things to Do in Graeagle

With a population just under 800, Graeagle is a truly tiny town, making it a lovely place for taking a load off and relieving yourself of the stress of big-city life. Admire rolling fields and verdant pine trees as you stroll through the area, following the gentle flow of the Gray Eagle Creek past the lake bed east of town.

When you're ready for lunch, restaurants like Graeagle Mill Works and the Knotty Pine Tavern can supply you with delicious food and drink, while the Indian Peak Vineyards Graeagle Tasting Room offers a chance to enjoy the unique vintages of Northern Californian wine.

If you'd like to surround yourself in more of Graeagle's fresh air and natural beauty, just head to the golf course at the south end of town, or take a bracing hike in Plumas-Eureka State Park. Come back to your vacation rental and enjoy a nice home-cooked meal to complete the perfect day!

Nearby National Parks

If you're looking for a home base for exploring the winding trails and dense foliage of the Golden State's northern forests, you won't find a home base much better than Graeagle! The town is just south of Plumas National Forest, and only a few hours from Lassen. The sprawling national park features miles of trails through dense forests, as well as unique attractions thanks to the volcanic geography of the region. Be sure to check out the colorfully-named Bumpass Hell, named for the eccentric miner, Kendall Vanhook Bumpass, who discovered these unearthly sulfur pits while looking for a place to set up a hot spring!

Truckee and Tahoe

As nice as summertime walks through the forests can be, there's nothing quite like spending your winters near the legendary snow and skiing of Lake Tahoe. Graeagle is a mere 61 miles north of the area, and the road to Tahoe is nearly as much fun as the lake is itself. You'll wind through forests and valleys, past reservoirs and charming small towns, before eventually reaching the nearby town of Truckee.

If you time your visit just right, you can enjoy an amazing Christmas celebration, where colorful lights cast gorgeous reflections on the snow all around you. Just don't get so lost in the magic that you forget to continue onwards to Tahoe itself!

From admiring the frozen waters of the lake to careening down ski slopes in Bear Valley to the south, a winter wonderland unlike anywhere else in California awaits you.
