Spacious, dog-friendly cottage close to hiking, fishing, and outdoor fun!

If you're looking for the ideal spot to whisk your special someone away to for a romantic mountain escape, look no further than this Idyllwild cottage. Featuring a dog-friendly atmosphere and a great location, you'll be able to unwind in the beauty of the mountains.

Set just a mile from the Tahquitz Peak Trailhead and a little less than two miles from the natural beauty of Mount San Jacinto State Park, outdoor fun will always be close at hand. In the wintertime, we recommend using a 4x4 vehicle to access the home safely.

Cuddle up on the plush couch under the vaulted, wood-beamed ceilings. The two private washer/dryers will make sure everyone stays looking their best during your stay.

Pop the tops on a couple of ice-cold beers and kick back on the deck while you stream some music over the free WiFi. Use the gas grill to cook up your fresh catch from fishing in the streams.

In the kitchen, you'll find a four-burner stove, refrigerator, and microwave for something quick. Sit at the breakfast bar or take your food out to dine with a view. End the day with some channel surfing on the flatscreen TV or a DVD to make it a movie night.

This one-bedroom (plus loft), one-bathroom home has room for up to four guests and well-behaved dogs (for a small nightly fee) to stay in comfort. In the bedroom, there is a king-size bed waiting to lull you into a restful night of sleep. Up in the loft, there is a double bed for your guests to enjoy.

Wake up and throw the ball in the fenced yard for Fido while you enjoy your morning cup of coffee. Make sure your camera is charged and has plenty of space, then head out to hit the trails of Tahquitz Peak Trailhead that weave through the rugged terrain.

Stroll along the picturesque banks of Strawberry Creek to find a picnic spot for you and your special someone. Wander along Deer Spring Trail or learn about the local ecosystem at the Idyllwild Nature Center. Afterward, grab a meal to remember at GastroGnome and enjoy a night out.

When the mountains start calling, answer with a trip to this Southern California cabin!

Loved the cabin! Everything we needed was there. The fenced yard was perfect for the dogs to run around without worrying about them. One of the first places I have rented that looked like the pictures. We will absolutely stay there again.

This home was the perfect little getaway. It was on the outskirts of the main town of Idyllwild. It was clean and the neighborhood was quiet. I would definitely rent again.

Loved the cozy ness, nice and quiet, scenery is wonderful. I only wish the beds were more comfy. A bit firm for my liking. Fully stocked not missing anything but cable tv. I give this place a 9.5 out of 10.
Manager Response:
We are so glad to see our guest enjoyed their visit. The home does have cable, and we are sorry to see our guest struggled to access it. Guests are always welcome to call for any assistance with the advertised amenities. Thank you!

This place was adorable, quiet and just what we wanted for a weekend in Idyllwild. It had everything we needed and was close to everything. We will definitely be renting this place again.

Fern Valley Chalet offers a marvelous retreat from urban madness and summer scorching - lovely 2 br home, super comfortable beds, kitchen, bath with tub, tv and wifi...quiet, great place to watch squirrels and birds, easy access to all the delights of the Idyllwild mountain and music communities. Could become a regular...

Great proximity to hiking trails, situated uphill and just far enough away from town but walkable. Happy!

The house is beautiful. It looks brand new inside. The heating system works perfectly and kept things nice and warm. The kitchen has everything you'll need to prepare food with a full-sized refrigerator, pots, pans, microwave, electric stove, coffee maker and toaster. A view of the mountain peak from the front room couch (which is extremely comfortable) kept me looking out the window the whole time. Really very nice. The back deck was a great place to pull up a chair and read a book. Leave the TV off. You won't need it. Grab your laptop and start writing your novel in this sweetheart of a home.

Only heavy comforters and a sheet available in the house on each bed.

Such wonderful, cozy accommodations, close to the main strip in Idyllwild with shopping and cute restaurants, and beautiful hiking options--must try!!!

The cabin was very clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed during our stay. The backyard had plenty of space for our dog. The location was perfect as well- a walking distance from hiking trails. We really enjoyed our stay and would gladly stay there again when we are in the area.

This cabin was the best I've stayed at in Idyllwild. It's stands alone( not grouped in with other cabins) which gave it a feeling of seclusion and privacy.Love the loft. The washer and dryer was also great especially bc I was visiting from out of state.Would highly recommend this cabin and will definitely be coming back next year. The allowing of a pet is also a major plus though I didn't have any with me but plan getting a dog soon.

Updated living room area and nice sleeping furnishings. Kitchen and bathroom were small and functional but a little bit older.

This is our second time back to the property. There is a great open living room huge TV and wonderful fireplace that we used every night. Fenced in yard for the dogs. Comfortable clean furnishings. Close to lots of good hiking. We look forward to our next day!

My family stayed at the Fern Valley Cottage before Thanksgiving. The cottage is clean and comfortable. What it is lacking is adequate lighting in the dining area. After dark, the dining area is completely dark so we were unable to eat dinner or play board games at the dining room table. Idyllwild is nearby with small shops and restaurants. Hiking trails are easily accessed too. We took a day trip to the Palm Springs Aerial Tram for hiking. It was a nice getaway.

We enjoyed 3 nights in this wonderful cabin. Had our puppy and baby in tow and it had everything we needed, including a baby gate!! House was clean, yard was great for the pup and close to town and great hiking. Would absolutely stay here again.

cozy cabin close to town

I needed a place to come with my little dog and get some writing done, and this was perfect. Clean, quiet, comfortable bed, kitchen just the right size and had what I needed. The staff was responsive when I had questions. Phone service not great but internet worked fine. I will definitely be back and would highly recommend this place to anyone.

The location is great. The looks and cleanliness also great. But some minor details overlooked that took away from what could have been a 5 Star review. Nice front and back deck, but no patio furniture so can’t relax outside. No light by dining area so you eat dinner in the dark. No standard coffee machine. No coffee table so no where to put your drink or bowl of popcorn while watching a movie. Back deck was a splintering and peeling paint rather badly. But overall it’s a really nice and cute cabin. These are rather easy fixes and this place would be 5 stars all the way!

This house was nothing like the photos and that was disappointing. Truly, the tricks that can be done with lighting .....either that or the photos were taken 20 years ago. The beds were both very hard and not comfortable. The kitchen was probably the original from when the place was built 50 years ago. It's adequate, though, and the backyard is fenced for dogs.

Great cabin to stay as a couple or with the family. Wonderful fenced in yard for the pups. Nice living room with lofted ceiling and huge beautiful windows. Great woodstove for chilly nights. Nice furnishings fully stocked kitchen. Quiet neighborhood close to everything. We have already planned out our next stay!

Beautiful cabin and surroundings! Humber Park is very nearby and has a few trails varying in degree of difficulty. The Ernie Maxwell Scenic Trail was just my speed, scenic and easy to navigate. The loft and first floor bedroom were both very comfortable. There is a deck in front and in back but there are no chairs provided so you may want to bring your own so you can sit outside, relax and enjoy the fresh air. Vacasa was very responsive before and during my stay. I would absolutely stay here again!

On checkin instruction, add verbiage that it's better to drive up street, pass house, turnaround and enter to park car. Standard 4 doors sedan hit bottom no matter how you navigate into car port. And can lead to easily scratching the front or rear bumpers. No problem at all driving into parking entering from above street.

Had a great weekend. Outstanding property, very clean and cozy. Our dog especially loved the fenced back yard. Clean, quiet, cozy! Definitely would stay there again. 5-Stars!
