Lakefront home with kayak, floating dock, & great views - minutes from town

Enjoy a quintessential Maine experience at this lovely Camden home, a retreat with a gorgeous lakefront position, a floating dock and kayak, and an ideal location for exploring the Midcoast's most picturesque town in every season.

This charming home sits on the eastern banks of Hosmer Pond, just three miles west of Camden's impossibly quaint harbor. Spend summer days swimming off the floating dock, renting stand-up paddleboards to take out on the lake, or joining kayak excursions of beautiful West Penobscot Bay. Catch spectacular autumn color on the trails of Camden Hills State Park five miles northeast, and return each winter to ski the slopes of Camden Snow Bowl one mile up the road.

Whether you're timing your visit for the U.S. Toboggan Championships or the Maine Lobster Festival, you'll feel right at home amid the natural wood, comfortable furnishings, and cheerful pastel palette of the living space. Brew a fresh pot of coffee in the country kitchen each morning, read the newspaper at the bistro table in the sunroom, and head into town for a homestyle breakfast at Boynton-McKay Food Co.

Spend summer days on the shores of the lake, reading in one of the two beach chairs, sunbathing on the floating dock, or watching your kids play in the garden and beach area. Use the free WiFi to share photos of the day's activities, get ready for a special dinner at Francine or Long Grain in town, and enjoy a post-meal stroll along Camden Harbor as the sun disappears behind the hills.

This house is OLD, and unfortunately not well maintained. Although the kids and I had a great week in Camden and swimming, paddling and kayaking on this charming lake, we would not return to this house because of the lack of attention to detail. The exterior looks as though it hasn’t been maintained in a decade. Curtain rods are bent, broken, doors don’t lock, and the rear door screen was falling off when we arrived. There are few lights, and the main kitchen one went out after three days. The house does NOT have AC... just one bedroom in the back has a window AC, the other rooms have window fans. The banister is wobbly, the towels dingy not white, the kitchen poorly stocked. The grill was filthy so I had to scrub it in the yard the first night, there is mold on the stairs outside, the beach chairs in shed are broken, there is not one single beach towel or even a single oven mitt! We had one dish towel to use all week, so had to use a hand towel towards the end of the week. There are barely any pots and pans and zero baking pans. The big sauté pan is brown and scratched up. One night we had no water in the shower because the shower handle broke off. We had maintenance come and fix a few issues, but the shower handle broke again the next day. I feel awful having to leave a bad review... but honestly, the kids and I would give this place 1-2 stars. The location and lake are so great that we raised it to 3. The house is very close to the street, as others mentioned, but that’s the least of the issues here. Making simple improvements, updating, and doing some minor landscaping would change the entire vibe of this otherwise disappointing and lackluster rental experience.
Manager response:
Hi Lara, thank you for staying with us and for your feedback! We are happy to hear you enjoyed the location of this home, though we are sorry the condition did not meet your expectations. We appreciate you letting us know there is room for improvement and will work diligently with the homeowner to make any updates. We hope we will be able to host you again in the future!

Perfect little cottage on Hosmer Pond. Made for easy access to the ski hill and town. Not overly fancy or too rustic - the perfect level of comfortable.

We stayed at this house while in town for a wedding - my husband and I, my 3 kids, and my mother. Everyone had a comfy bed to sleep in, we had a nice kitchen for meals and we could eat at the table looking out over the pond. Plus we brought our kid kayaks to complement the adult kayaks available at the property and we were able to enjoy the pond by kayak every day. The home was tidy and everything was in order, a wonderful experience!

We had a wonderful weekend away at this adorable cottage. Even though it was raining most of the weekend we were able to enjoy the beautiful view of the pond from the back porch as well as the stars at night. Conveniently located near just about everything but still feels like you’re away from it all.

Cute and clean cottage by the pond! Very child and dog friendly! My family had a great stay especially my children with the great sleeping/playroom upstairs! We were very pleased with the location for the reason of being close to great hiking as well as towns Camden, Belfast and Rockport.
