Oceanfront home with amazing views in peaceful neighborhood near beaches & more

This classic 1920s seaside cottage (sleeps 4) is full of original details, from the gorgeous double-sided stone fireplace to the hardwood floors. Truly steps away from the ocean, you'll have a beautiful vacation whether you surf, swim, or simply watch the waves.

If you’re looking for a nostalgic trip to the ocean, you’ll adore this pretty 1920s cottage perched just above the beach. 4 inviting patio chairs face the water just outside the rental entrance.

Step into the living room, where a stone wood-burning fireplace dominates and comfy seating accommodates 6. This is how beach properties used to be—a modest retreat from the world, filled with antiques and original details.

To the right is a sunroom with a queen-size futon and two chairs—there's no door to this room.

Through the living room, the open dining area seats 4 around a cherry wood table and big windows look out on the ocean.

To the right of the dining room (facing the ocean) is the family room—a comfortable, less formal sitting area surrounded by windows. An entertainment center features a 24” TV for stormy days. The fireplace is double-sided, so you can also have a fire in this room.

Back through the dining room, the little kitchen has beautiful open and glass-front cabinets, a butcher block counter, gas range, and breakfast bar seating 2.

Off the living room is a hallway housing the bathroom and master bath. The master bed is full-size. Classic built-in cabinets and closets provide lots of storage here. The bathroom has tile floors, a beautiful vintage wood vanity, porthole window, skylight, and clawfoot tub with showerhead above.

Outside, there's a private, fenced-in backyard with an outdoor shower (perfect for washing off the sand!) and a patio/garden area with seating for 4 at a weathered wooden table.

Surfers will adore this cabin—not only are you as close as can be to the ocean, there’s an excellent surfing spot by the pier nearby known as Little Rincon. If you prefer to hike, a 30-minute drive takes you to several different trailheads in Los Padres National Forest.

This cabin is truly a retreat from the world; it’s a 10-minute drive to Carpinteria, the nearest town with a grocery store and restaurants. There you might want to hit up Worker Bee Cafe for breakfast and burgers or Zookers Restaurant for farm-to-table cuisine.

Downtown Ventura is a 10-minute drive away—spend a day exploring the Marina Park and piers and the shops and restaurants on Main Street. A damage waiver, covering up to $2,000 of accidental damage to the property or its contents, is included in the cost of your reservation.

You must be 21 years or older to rent this property.

we enjoyed this house so much. Other than a plumbing problem that cost us a day waiting for somebody to let us know when or if plumber was going to show. Being so close to the ocean, was so beautiful. Hearing the waves crash against the house during high tide was so much fun. Every thing we needed was included. The neighbors were so nice also. Seeing seals, dolphins, and whales all during our stay was so remarkable. We are looking so forward to a return trip.

This was a 5 star stay because the location is so fantastic. The home is very old but clean and well appointed for a simple beach vacation. We spent most of our time on the front porch and down on the sand when the tide was out. We grilled in the back yard, took advantage of the outside shower, chilled for three lovely days enjoying the beautiful sound of the surf. Heavenly days :)

Incomparable ocean front location - the waves literally splash onto the windows and roof. If you are looking for upscale elegance - this is not the spot for you. But if a homey, isolated beach front cottage suits your style, this is the place!

If you are expecting a hotel, you’ve come to the wrong place. No frills. Old space. No AC. Basic accoutrements.Amazing views. The waves literally splash up against the windows at night. We had great surfing. Great swimming. Great walks. Very little people ( no public parking available).Views of seals, dolphins; all kind of wildlife. This is my new “happy space”. I never want to leave.

We stayed here during our son's wedding weekend, which was held north in Santa Barbara area. This property was immaculately maintained in terms of cleanliness, and was a peaceful retreat to rest in between the festivities. The home's amenities are somewhat outdated. We found ourselves looking around imagining remodeling and renovations to update; however, in the end, the outdatedness provided a warm, comforting feeling, reminiscent of our grandparents' homes. The property manager was impressively responsive and helpful. We would definitely stay here again. ps, the pictures don't do it justice. Absolutely beautiful.

Loved being right next to the ocean. It almost felt like we were on a ship at night tide. The hose is very old, but cozy. Be careful climbing in and out of the bath tub. All in all a great stay!!

We can not say enough about this vacation rental. Our stay was enjoyable from the moment we arrived through the time we left. The property location is breathtaking! The water is literally steps away from the house. It was so enjoyable to fall asleep to the ocean waves. During high tide, occasionally water would splash on the living room windows.
The house was absolutely adorable. It was clean and supplied sufficiently. We especially loved how the house has maintained an "old school beach feel". It is full of character. The mornings can be pretty brisk in the house but as soon as the sun rises the temperature is perfect.
My husband and I were able to spend romantic evenings on the patio. We were also able to enjoy shell and rock searching in the tide pools during low tide with our 2.5 year old son.
Initially, we had some issues opening the lock box that held the key. We contacted Vacasa and they were prompt to solve the problem. The parking can be a little confusing. The easiest way I can explain it is park on the asphalt next to the house, not on the concrete.
We were blown away at how our expectations were not only met but exceeded. We will definitely be back!

Right on the water-- we have stayed a few times in the past.. Not the fanciest of accommodations but the view and location make up for it

We just came home from our weekend and already want to go back! The house is charming and cozy! The location can not be beat! We have found our new favorite getaway!

We arrived at Mussel Shoals and set up for our girls weekend. We got into the house easily - just know to park in the drive next to the house, or the neighbor will let you know, not by the front door ;). The house was cutely decorated. No a/c - which is just fine for being right on the ocean. There were fans provided. We enjoyed the sea life that passed by daily, and the quietness. The waves splashed so high in the evenings that they splashed on the front windows, which we found so relaxing! I would NOT bring children here, as it would be dangerous (no barrier to the rocks below), but it's perfect for a couple looking to reconnect, or a friend weekend.
