Iconic 1920s Home in the Redwoods w/ Gorgeous Deck & Fireplace, Close to Town

Beautifully tucked away in the tranquil, towering redwood groves of Guerneville, this woodland lodge brings peace, incredible scenery, and one-of-a-kind charm and atmosphere to your next Russian River retreat. Built in the 1920s and named for the solid granite rock around which it was constructed, this home has stood as a neighborhood landmark for over a century, having even inspired Andrea E. Robinson's book, Grace of the River's Nest.

Step inside to find 1,431 square feet of living space, accented by richly hued wood paneling and plentiful windows that frame the redwood grove. Make yourself at home in a living room that's warmed by a remote-controlled electric fireplace with a floor-to-ceiling stone hearth, or move into the adjacent sunroom to play cards, curl up with a good book, or simply soak in the view through wall-to-wall windows. On the other side of the living room, the full kitchen provides every essential appliance and an eat-in table; additional seating for indoor dining is available in the sunroom.

Just outside, you'll find an expansive deck with a covered dining area and cushioned lounge furniture, a large back patio, a spacious side yard, and a hammock on the hillside, allowing you to begin and end each day in the fragrant forest air. Spend the afternoons playing with the provided cornhole set on the side yard, and pick some fresh herbs from the garden on the upper terrace on your way inside for dinner. As for your evenings, there's a vintage entertainment system with a record player/radio and a collection of classic 78s, as well as a downstairs family room which showcases the home's namesake white rock - a wonderful spot to watch Netflix and mix cocktails at the bar. A private washer/dryer, central AC, and free WiFi are also provided for your ease and convenience.

What's nearby:
This iconic home sits on a double lot of woodland hills populated by approximately 40 beautiful redwood trees. It feels wonderfully away from it all, yet the heart of downtown Guerneville - with its great restaurants, eateries, artsy shops, and many conveniences - is just over a mile east. You can easily lounge on the banks of the Russian River at Johnson's Beach (just over a mile east), go hiking at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve (less than four miles north), tour the region's many wineries and breweries, and admire the beauty of the rugged ocean coast at Sonoma Coast State Park (12 miles west).

My family and I had a wonderful time here . The cabin was very cozy and has a lot of character ! The house and neighborhood is nestled amongst redwood trees . It is also very close to the river as well as town. I would definitely recommend this place and I will for sure be coming back !

Thank you for a lovely stay in your beautiful home. Wifi and TV did not work and no stereo available. Recommend citronella candles outside.

Lots of cool places to sit, read,or have a refreshing drink. Game room, nice living room and kitchen. Bar in basement. Only thing is they need a manual on how to watch the tv.
Manager response:
Hi Alan! We're glad to hear that you were able to enjoy this beautiful home and all it had to offer! We've taken your comment about instructions for the TV to the local staff and homeowners. We are currently working to get those instructions in the home for future guests! We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review and we hope to see you again soon!

With the stress of COVID, my friends and I (all receiving negative COVID tests beforehand) needed a getaway. I really wanted a cozy, wooded cabin with space to spend time with my friends; talk and play games, and space to hide away and decompress. The White Rock Lodge provided just that! The cabin was spacious and cozy, in a calm wooded area great for walks, or a short drive to hikes. You can drive to breweries and restaurants for outdoor dining easily, or cook and have meals together. Our only trial was that the pellet stove took some learning to use. Best I can say is I remember walking in and thinking `Oh wow, this is better than it looked online, and exactly what I wanted.`, to an extent I thought `what if I bought a cabin like this and moved up here?`. If you`re looking for a calm and pleasant getaway amongst the trees, you will be pleased.
