Walk just a few minutes to the white sand beach from this ground-floor condo at Kepuhi Beach Resort, an ocean view escape that ranks as one of the larger studios at the resort! This newly remodeled condo has been very nicely furnished and decorated, offering a full kitchen and dining tables both inside and outside on the private lanai with a view of the ocean. You'll have free WiFi access, a TV with cable, a stereo, a king-size bed, and a bathroom with a tub/shower - all within a short walk of the resort's oceanfront swimming pool, stainless steel gas grills, and laundry room.

Kepuhi Beach Resort is an oceanfront property on the west end of the island of Molokai, with grounds that include an oceanfront swimming pool, gas grills with picnic tables, and a sundry shop with trinkets and food to purchase. Right out front, on both sides of the old hotel, is Kepuhi Beach, which is great for surfing in the winter months, ideal for swimming and snorkeling come summer, and the site of many paddle races to Oahu. You'll also be a short stroll across the old golf course from Papohaku Beach, one of the longest beaches in the state of Hawaii with waters that are rough in the winter but calmer for ocean swimming in summer. Kepuhi Beach Resort is less than a mile from Make Horse and its many tidepools, seven miles northwest of the town of Maunaloa (the only town on the west end), and 20 miles west of Kaunakakai, where most grocery stores, art/gift shops, mini markets, restaurants, and equipment rentals are located.

This arid west side of Molokai, just 12 miles from the airport, is known for having less rain than the east side of the island. And the island-wide evening quiet hours make Molokai perfect for romance, families, solitude, and experiencing a glimpse of the real Hawaii away from the tourist crowds. Molokai is about entertaining yourselves, although Hotel Molokai on a Friday night is entertaining itself!

Kepuhi Beach Resort is a nice place to stay if you like mostly quiet surroundings and don't want to see too many people around you. The grounds are spacious and directly behind the beach itself. The beach is rugged but pretty and the waters rough but swimmable with advanced skills. Unit 1162 is OK. Overall it is in decent condition and has a fine spot within the resort. I did not see any cockroaches in the unit. The neighbor seems to play reasonably loud rock music every afternoon to early evening, which may bother some folks as it interrupts the otherwise tranquil atmosphere. The floor had a dirty, dusty feel to it which made it not feel good to walk barefoot in the unit, as requested by the signage. The bedding and pillows smelled strongly of mildew, making sleeping face down impossible. Instead I had to seal the pillows with plastic and then cover with towels to contain the smell. The stove was functional but the burners did not sit flat which made cooking certain items in a stovepan difficult. Given the lovely surroundings, none of this particularly bothered me. What bothered me was the threatening signage on the refrigerator demanding that guests carry out very specific cleaning tasks before leaving (or you WILL BE CHARGED). A polite request to not leave stuff like rotting fish carcasses inside the unit would have been well received. A demand that I take the trash out to a bin which was actually nowhere to be seen was NOT well received. I am on vacation. If you don't want to do basic clean up after guests even when you are charging an $85 cleaning fee, then get out of the hospitality business.
