Sitting on beautiful acreage, this retreat is just the place to get away from it all while still being a mere three miles from the heart of Orick. The Northern California Coast is known for its raw beauty and towering trees, and you will have access to it all within minutes of your front door. If hiking is on the agenda, simply make your way to the Trillium Falls Trail (one mile), Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park (three miles), or the famous Redwood National and State Parks (10 miles south). Then explore the primeval ferns of Fern Canyon and the moody beaches of Northern California, and learn their secrets on a guided tour with Redwood Adventures. You can also get your fill of salty air and soft sand by following Davison Road to Golden Bluffs Beach.

Things to know:
The kitchenette does not have a sink
*The hot tub is currently not available
There is a surveillance camera on the property at the entry gate pointing toward the highway, and one on the fence by the water tanks facing Valley Green Camp Road with a wide view of the property
This studio is part of a larger cabin; groups can book the entire home at Elk Meadow 11B Roosevelt Elk

The setting is magical! So peaceful and quiet, we loved that. The nature hike was also wonderful, great way to start the day. The location is great too except for the lack of food options nearby, that we found a bit hard to deal with. Also, next time we would not get the small, one room unit as that was a bit claustrophobic with on,y one window and so access to the meadow.

It was fun seeing the elk in the front yard strutting his stuff. The private, outdoor, woodsy feel was great. The room was OK. It was nice to have a washer and dryer. The bed was comfortable. It could have used a few things like plates, tissues, porch furniture that was not falling apart. We did not see a staff person the entire time we were there. We planned to stay a week with the price listed as $170 per night, but had to shorten our stay to 3 nights because of all the extra fees and charges you added to the bill. The 3 night stay ended up being $267.67 per night. We were also going to take advantage of the Redwood Adventures, but the $140 per person price for a 3 hour trip advertised on the website turned out to be $390 per person. We cancelled that trip.
Manager response:
Thanks for sharing your feedback, Nancy! We aim to make the price of our rentals as completely transparent as possible and provide a breakdown of each cost you pay towards the rental before, and throughout the booking process, including all fees and taxes. To clarify, we use the method of dynamic pricing in which our homes' rates do fluctuate based on the demand of our market. We appreciate your understanding and hope to host you for many more fantastic vacations to come!

The room was very clean. It was decorated nicely. We had one elk hanging around right in front of our cabin. It was pet friendly for a fee. We enjoyed our stay.

The only downside is no TV or air conditioning. This is the smaller cabin attached to a bigger home. The bathroom shower is tiny. We stayed for one night so it wasn’t a major issue, but would’ve been crammed if we stayed longer.

PS. They aren’t joking about not having phone service.
