Recent Houston vacation rental reviews

This place was much larger than appeared on the outside. Plenty of space with nice little balcony, which we enjoyed while drinking coffee in the mornings. Walking distance from many good restaurants and coffee shops, as well as biking/walking trails to Buffalo Bayou parks. If you’re looking for a good home base in Houston, without being downtown, this is a great location. Would love to stay here again.

Where is Houston?

While the Houston area sprawls for dozens of miles, Houston proper occupies a radius of about 10 miles, with a huge, bustling downtown at its center. It’s a little over a hundred miles to the Louisiana border from your Houston rental, and only 50 miles to Galveston, a popular weekend beach trip from the city. Many Houston-area residents live in suburbs like Tomball, The Woodlands, and Sugar Land. While the summers here are certainly hot, Houston residents bask in mild winters, sans any pesky ice or snow.

Things to do and see in Houston

Take some time to visit the Space Center while staying at a Houston vacation home - this unique glimpse inside NASA is something you’ll never forget, no matter your age. If you’re in museum mode, there are tons to explore here: the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the Downtown Aquarium, and the Museum of Fine Arts are only a few.

Houston boasts several sports teams, so it’s a hub for a huge variety of fans. Both football and baseball fans in Texas are divided between the state’s other teams and Houston’s Texans and Astros, the local NFL and MLB teams. One thing’s for sure: you won’t be bored at an Astros game or a lively Texans tailgate. Catch a Houston Rockets basketball game at the Toyota Center, or even a soccer game featuring the Houston Dynamo.

If you’re here for the food, you won’t be disappointed. Houston is one of the nation’s most diverse cities, with culinary offerings to match. Tex-Mex diners, taco trucks, and Cajun restaurants steal the show. Once a year, there’s also the opportunity for deep-fried-everything at the Houston Rodeo, the largest rodeo and livestock exhibition in the world. If you’re planning on coming for the rodeo, be sure to claim your vacation rental early.

Houston has long been known as an international business hub, and its culture, food, sports, and entertainment offer something for every visitor. Browse our Houston vacation homes and find your next destination in this vibrant city.
