My family and I stayed here for the weekend and it was such a great place. The property sits right on Lake Pauline, and you have access to a rowboat, canoe and a kayak that the property owners let you use (which is a pleasant added bonus) and it was really fun to paddle around on the lake. You can also swim and there is a nice sandy spot which you can launch off of to do so. The place itself was also great and had a lot of charm. There's a nice cozy living room, stocked kitchen and a fireplace (which we didn't use, but probably nice in the winter) downstairs, and upstairs there are two beds on one loft and a master bedroom a bit higher on another loft. They made really good use of their space in this place and with 5 of us there, we had plenty of room. It could also sleep a few more as there is a couch and a pull-out futon. Another nice feature was a fire-pit in the backyard and free wood, which we definitely utilized. I would come back here for sure-- had a great weekend with my family here.

Close to Ludlow town, was able to take a day drip to Ben & Jerry's (Waterbury) and hit up the Vermont State Fair in Rutland. Got our feet wet in the lake, sat outside and drank beers. Was really surprised that there were three beds, a sectional, and futon - way more space then I realized. We also enjoyed cooking out own dinner and the kitchen had everything.

We had a great time snuggling up by the fire after a very cold, windy day of skiing. The cabin was perfect for our family, and we loved how cozy it was.

Great location, 5 minutes drive from Okemo, nestled away in the trees next to a small lake. Really idyllic. The house is in very good condition, spotlessly clean, and amply supplied with towels, linens and kitchen equipment. Our four person family thoroughly enjoyed it.

The Mary Lou was exactly what we were looking for. Our family of four stayed there, and had a really nice getaway. We went out on the lake every day with the canoe and paddles that were available, and got some great food in Ludlow. We'll likely be back!

Getting rained out on a long weekend in the epicenter for fall foliage seems like it would be a downer. Even if it had been 75 and sunny, I still don't think we would have left it. It felt like home as soon as we dropped our bags and loaded up the refrigerator. It was private, yet only miles down the road from downtown. Amenities were great. Linens and toiletries resembled that of a hotel, and the kitchen was stocked with just about any cooking utensil we could think of. Definitely one of the best experiences we've had. Already planning our next trip back! Thanks Justine and the rest at vacasa for the quick replies and super easy check in and check out lists which made the weekend stress free.

This place was so adorable. The layout of the home brought everyone together, which I loved. The location was perfect. Everything was close by. Shaws was about a 10 minute drive away, Buttermilk (hike with waterfall views) was about 5-7 minute ride away, and nothing was more convenient than the beautiful lake out back. The neighbors were kind enough to lend us their oars for the canoe & kayak so that helped us out a great deal. Thanks to Justine (property manager) for being so prompt with our needs. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a nice little getaway.

This A frame is perfect for the group of ski enthusiasts that are looking for a great place to relax after a long day of skiing and are still less than 5 min away from the base of the mountain.

Overall, the place didn't meet our expectation. It's functional and can get the job done, but were disappointed by a few things:

Advertised as cable TV but had a VERY basic cable package only, which didn't include basics like ESPN (couldn't watch any of the bowl football games). Basically was the main network channels and that was more or less it.

It said sleeps up to 8, which was technically correct, but we were pretty cramped with just four of us. The futon on the main floor was right next to the door outside and just across from the only bathroom in the house (I ended up sleeping on the couch instead). The house is VERY noisy. Every step upstairs echoes throughout the whole house (in other words, any time anyone upstairs moved it was heard throughout and if someone got up -- to use the restroom downstairs, for example -- it woke everyone up. There was no washer and dryer (I didn't look to see if there was one beforehand, but expected at the price that there would be). It had most of the basic stuff in terms of how it was stocked, but some odd things (like no glass glasses except one Mason jar... all either plastic or coffee cups). The plastic cups if you put water in them made it taste like plastic.

Just to be fair -- it definitely wasn't all bad. The house was functional and got the job done. "Rustic" would be a good description for it. It was clean. Had a fireplace with a ample supply of wood for the weekend. The A frame was cool (minus the noise). I think just a moderate amount of effort could make a big difference and make renters feel like they were getting a little bit better deal. The other option would be to drop the price down to make clear that expectations shouldn't be too high.

Rental agency was great to work with and cleaners did a terrific job.
Manager response:
We’re disappointed this home didn’t meet the guests’ expectations. It’s always our goal to ensure complete satisfaction with the interior’s look and feel. In addressing their feedback, the TV was advertised as cable but a washer and dryer were not advertised as an amenity. Upon inspection, actual glass drinking glasses were located in the kitchen. Due to the unique structure of the building, a lot of creativity has gone into utilizing the right amount of space with the furniture. We will certainly forward these comments to the homeowner. Thank you.
