Fun at the Lake - Huddleston, VA

We were moved to this lovely accommodation after AC problems in the original rental. It was clean, everything worked, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. I cannot say enough good words about Premier Vacation Rentals. They were immediately responsive to our every need. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The ambiance was fresh, comfortable, and very enjoyable. It was nicely furnished, with good linens and towels, and very clean. On the positive side, I have never seen a kitchen in a rental unit so well furnished for cooking and serving large parties. I really didn’t need any of the just in case extras I brought with me, except for my good chefs knife. Of course, there was a knife sharpener provided in the kitchen I could have used on the knives provided there. On the negative side, there were a few maintenance items, and a few pieces of information that would have been nice to know before booking. FYI: It would have been nice to know in advance that one of the two full bathrooms was a Jack and Jill. One of my daughters has a real issue with Jack and Jill bathrooms. FYI: There is no trash service. You are responsible for taking your trash to a dump/recycling collection site. This is both a negative and a positive. There are two collection sites identified, both within 5 miles, with one of them open 24 hours a day. Since there is no place to store full trash bags, and no local dumpster, we made several trips to dump trash and recycling. Maintenance items: Overall, the property is vey well maintained. There was one toilet paper holder that would not work properly (in the Jack and Jill bath), and there were two bathroom doors that would not latch, which meant that the lock was ineffective. One door was to the half bath downstairs, and the second door was one of the two doors into the Jack and Jill bathroom. Luckily, we were all family, but it still would have been nice to be able to lock the bathroom doors. RECOMMENDATION: Other than fixing the two door latches, I would recommend that a bath mat (to step onto when exiting the shower/bathtub) be included in the towel service. Fixing the bathroom door latches alone, would significantly improve my rating of what was otherwise a very nice location and experience.
