We took several trips up to Mendocino, which feels like home. But my favorite experience was sitting outside, on the deck, watching the waves and feeling the breeze.

Mendocino. Also head down to Point Arena and head down to the Pier Chowder House and tap room for some of the best fish and chips on the west coast. While at Point Arena head over Franny's Cup and Saucer for some delicious bakery items. Get there early...they run out!!

Breakfast burrito at Queens was fantastic! We walked down to the secluded beach every morning and hunted for cool driftwood while watching seals hang out on the beach. Such an amazing place!

Spent time visiting area from Gualala to Fort Bragg, had a great time in the small town of Elk and the beach area in Elk. The property at Vista de la Playa was beautiful and the owners were very friendly. The studio was very nice with a beautiful view of the ocean.

Roads narrow, twisty and big elevation changes making driving tiring after the long drive to the location.
Beaches are not the sandy examples of Southern Cal.
Despite the above coastline and area very scenic.

Local beach was walking distance from the studio. We drove up north to look at the towns and went mountain biking in various redwood forests.

The coastline and views are stunning. The little town is quaint and the people are friendly and welcoming. The places I ate at Queenie's Roadhouse and Bridget Dolan's Pub offered great food and beverage. The Elk Market has great food and is a good place to chat with locals. Had a fantastic massage with a local masseuse recommended by locals! Just a fantastic place to slow down and chill.

The cliffs and the beach being so close. The town folks are so friendly. The views from the studio are fantastic! Sunsets are spectacular from the yard. The grounds and the studio are impeccably maintained. Everything seemed new and fresh. The unit is well equiped and offers wifi and Dish tv. Just very nice relaxing place for a very resonable rate.

I loved the 4-bar stool Bridget Dolan's Pub right next door. We ordered pizzas and a great salad from there and just walked it over to the house (after drinking local wine and beer on 3 of the 4 bar stools).

The Asian Buffet in Fort Bragg has some really excellent take out! The Flow restaurant in Mendocino has excellent food and cocktails. There's a little grocery store in Mendocino that has lots of things, but the Safeway in Fort Bragg is worth the extra few minutes of driving to make sure you get what you need at a reasonable price. Get gas in Fort Bragg, it's way cheaper!

Aside from the obvious such as redwood forests and beaches, we were thrilled that there were some very nearby unestablished hiking trails (namely logging roads) where we can take our dogs for unleashed walks and not come across anybody else.

The hot tub on the property is a magical place to watch the sun go down into the Pacific. Well,at least that's the case in February!

We loved every minute of our stay at Safe at Anchor - The horseback riding on the Beach at Manchester State Park with Mrs Ross was an amazing way to see the coast. Also, canoeing up Big River from the Mendoceno Bridge, taking walks along the paths on the bluffs above Mendoceno Bay, along the old road on the North side of Big River or through the Red Woods at Navarro Red Woods State Park were also a wonderful experience. Additionally, walking along the Navarro Beach and watching the magnificent Sun Sets from there was fantastic- we loved it all - and then to be able to come back to Safe at Anchor at the end of the day and enjoy a quiet evening and a movie with a fire going in the stove or just enjoy sitting in the hot tub to relax. We didn't want to leave but we had to come back to reality but we hope to come back soon
