It's right across the street from MacKerricher State Park which has a great beach, tide pools and a wonderful boardwalk that was really fun and safe for our small children to run and explore on. Plus access to the Haul Rd that was perfect for the kids to ride their bikes.

The Botanical Gardens are absolutely magical! We stayed for 2 or 3 hours, but you could make an entire day out of it. There are so many hidden trails, bridges, and creeks that there would be no problem finding a bench in a quiet, secluded place all to yourself to meditate and spend some time with yourself!

This property is next to MacKerricher State Beach. It was great to walk to the ocean to watch the sunset--or any other time of the day. There are paved trails and dirt trails that run for miles north and south of this beach access.

Fort Bragg has a Farmer's Market on Wednesday evenings. Lots of local produce and other fun finds.

We go to Ft Bragg fairly often -- I'm a big fan of the giant breakfasts and the staff at Eggheads Restaurant, and the coffee at Zappas is really good. Harvest Market is good for "fancy" groceries, and they have a great selection of small pieces of really good cheese. Great for hiking, picnics and quick snacks. There's good, dog-friendly hiking in the state forest, as well as all the coastal state parks.

the beach by the beachcomber hotel- has a lagoon that is shallow and not too cold. its about 5 minutes from the property and PERFECT for kids since they were able to play in the water safely, and still enjoy the ocean.

    Greetings Reviewer,
    * The Sand Dollar rental is about 6 miles North of Fort Bragg, CA, it was easy to commute to the various visitor sites.
    * We went to Glass Beach West of Denny's, but suggest walking North on the beach to see more glass samples.
    * Also, visit Sea Glass Museum South past the circle (Turnabouts) on the left side. We went to the town of Mendocino and Cabrillo Lighthouse about 20 miles South. Mendocino has food shops, gift shops, walking tours, museums and ocean scenery.
    * We went to Willits's Skunk Train & paid extra to ride in the cab with the Engineer-excellent tour guide!!!
    * We visited Confusion Hill about an hours drive 101 North, where they have a gift shop, foods, and two attractions the Gravity House and small Train guided tour by the engineer where he went up the steep hill using switch-back rails which lasted 20-30 minutes with local history and be sure to ask questions.
    * Of course we went to the Botanical Gardens always great to see the many variety of plants and colors/types of flowers.

The hike to the dunes was a little tough but once you are at the beach there are tons of sand dollars. You could access 10 mile beach at Mackerriger if you can't do the dunes.

At low tide, on the right-hand side of the public access beach, there is a large tunnel about 20 feet long, that leads to a private beach. The tunnel is tall and wide and the grandkids loved timing the waves to run through to the other side!

Everything about the Ocean Breeze is wonderful. Comfortable home and magical surroundings. While there isn't a safe way down to the beach from the property, a short walk through the Pine Beach property takes you to the creek and beaches below the house. To the south there is access by trail to the rocky tide pools. Having a decent Thai restaurant in walking distance is a bonus!

Capt Tims Whale Watching, 2hr ride, was great out of the Noyo Harbor in Fort Bragg, spotted whales about a mile off shore from the house! The trip on the boat trained us on how to spot them, the rest of the stay we were whale watching and spotting them from the deck of the house, now that we knew how and where to look. The deckhands shared crab from the early morning run. Next time we will go on the crabbing trip with Capt Tim, you get your limit of fresh crabs (10 per person and the whales). Possibly even a great white shark or two. Mendocino less then 10 minutes away, great shopping very quaint seaside town. Fort Bragg had everything you need, Safeway, Pizza, burgers, seafood on the harbor and a fantastic Brewery.

The Botanical Gardens are a most. You can hike the trails and it is aprox 1 1/2 miles if you do the complete round trip. You will hike thru beautiful garden and lovely fern and wooded areas. There is a babbling brook and a wonderful ocean view half way thru your walk. You can even see the Marebello from the headlands . It has wheel chair pathways as well. There are picnic areas that you are welcome to enjoy. They have a little bistro, gift shop and nursery. They have senior discounts and AAA ( not posted so just ask).
