Escape the busy Bay Area and find a quiet getaway close to Northern California wine country and the Russian River in our Redwood Valley vacation rentals.
The tiny town of fewer than 1,800 people sits quietly in the Ukiah Valley, just north of the US 101 and California Highway 20 junction. To the east is the majestic Mendocino National Forest, while about 50 miles to the west are the Northern California Coast destinations like Fort Bragg, Mendocino, and Albion. If you arrive from the San Francisco Bay Area (120 miles south), you’ll pass through gorgeous Sonoma County, home to Healdsburg, Sebastopol, and Santa Rosa.
With tons of world-class wineries within a scenic drive from your Redwood Valley vacation home, you'll want to return again and again! Visit Russian River wine country and the Alexander Valley, starting with Francis Ford Coppola Winery in Geyserville. Owned by the famous filmmaker, this attraction has a stellar pool that pairs perfectly with its Sofia sparkling wine. Go for lunch in charming downtown Healdsburg or move along to nearby tasting rooms at places like Seghesio Family Vineyards, Geyser Peak, and Foppiano Vineyards. Head further southeast to Sonoma, whose namesake county hosts countless award-winning wineries and popular farm-to-table dining experiences like the Girl and the Fig.
While you can spend one day of your trip exploring California wine country, you can spend another wandering the coast. From small and secluded Albion, with its quaint Ledford House for a delightful dinner, to fun and funky Fort Bragg with its boutiques, you'll have your choice of towns to explore in between sightseeing. Between those two villages is Mendocino Headlands State Park in its namesake town. Hike above the craggy coast and spy whales in the distance if you're lucky - or otters in the surf if you're really lucky! There's also Russian River Gulch State Park, where you'll want your camera for the scenic sites of ocean, woodland, waterfall, and tide pools.
If you like to sample microbrews or go on outdoor adventures - or both! - you're in luck when you stay at our Redwood Valley vacation rentals! Launch your kayak, drop in your inner tube, or hike alongside the winding Russian River among ancient redwoods. There are many rental stations and tour crews if you're inexperienced, such as Russian River Adventures in Healdsburg. After a fun-filled day, you earn the right to a flight of hoppy California beers at Russian River Brewing Company in downtown Santa Rosa.
If you'd prefer to stay close to your Redwood Valley lodging for more of a low-key getaway, Lake Mendocino is a 1,922 acre reservoir for fishing, wading, and picnics.
Discover a whole new nook to call your own! Our Redwood Valley vacation rentals offer a private and quiet spot to unwind while still being just close enough to all that you want to explore in California.
