About Captiva Island
With year-round tropical temperatures, laid-back living, and gorgeous white sand beaches, Captiva Island is a vacationer's paradise in Southwest Florida. Annually attracting families, couples, retirees, and sun worshipers of all ages seeking fun in the region's legendary sun, sand, and surf, Captiva Island is also a popular destination for Florida vacation rentals, delivering relaxation and rejuvenation on the Gulf Coast.

Things to Do on Captiva Island

Our Captiva Island vacation rentals put you in the middle of the action - or relaxation. Located north of Sanibel Island off mainland Florida, Captiva Island offers many fun activities, from combing its seashell strewn beaches in search of exotic shells deposited by the millions, to world-class sport fishing in the coastal flats just off its shore.

Head out in the morning on a fishing adventure with any of the island's many charters, and an experienced guide will help you land a trophy tarpon, grouper, shark, or many other monster-size fish that live in the warm Gulf waters. In the afternoon, head into Captiva's quaint village-style town center for great dining at low-key restaurants serving local specialties like conch fritters, Baja fish tacos, and key lime pie.

Kids will love building sandcastles and shelling on Captiva Beach, while adults will love exploring the mangrove coastline and bay inlets - home to manatees, herons, nesting egrets, and many more species - from a kayak or stand-up paddle board, both of which can be rented on the island.

Day Trips from Captiva Island

While there's certainly enough activities on Captiva Island to keep you entertained for the entirety of your stay, you might decide to venture onto mainland Florida for a taste of the city life. With museums, boutique shops, art galleries, a thriving nightlife scene, and many more city amenities, Fort Myers is a worthy day trip at 32 miles northeast. If you want to stay closer, J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge is an equally worthy day trip at only 9 miles, and it's here you can see plenty of Florida wildlife including alligators, raccoons, frogs, snakes, lizards, and even manatees in the brackish swampland waters and 6,400 acres of federally-protected coastal land.

Wherever you choose to roam in Southwest Florida, a stay in one of our Captiva Island vacation rentals will give you front door access to all the coastal, beachside activities you love!
