With a population limited to its vacationing guests, Garden Island sits in the middle of Converse Bay in beautiful Lake Champlain. A five-minute ride on a private ferry links this densely forested island to the town of Charlotte on the mainland, where you'll be 16 miles south of Burlington's charming waterfront, 56 miles north of the country town of Rutland, and 39 miles west of the wonderful outdoor activities at Sugarbush Resort.

Things to Do on Garden Island, VT

Our Garden Island vacation rentals are lovingly maintained, with homes that range from century-old farmhouses to cozy waterfront cottages. It's a place to walk miles of woodland paths, play card games on your screened-in porch, and take full advantage of the lakeshore just a few steps away.

Go swimming each afternoon in the pristine waters and enjoy beaches and lake floats that are never crowded. Make use of the provided dock space, moorings, and reliable offshore winds to spend the day sailing or boating in your own vessel, or borrow a canoe or a kayak to take a sunrise paddle on the lake. The waters of Lake Champlain, which reach depths of more than 350 feet nearby, are also ideal for anglers in search of large- and smallmouth bass.

Stage a family badminton tournament, watch your children squeal with delight on the playground swings and slides, and catch unforgettable views each evening as the sun sets over the lake.
