For two weekends, hundreds of vendors gather to offer live music and arts, crafts, and food centered on North Georgia culture. Each year, the festival boasts a parade and antique car show while locals and visitors celebrate the Apple Capital with apple pie and cake contests and even an Apple Queen Pageant.
In nearby East Ellijay, the beginning of apple season culminates with the Georgia Apple Blossom Festival, when people come together to celebrate the beauty of apple blossoms in the spring. Dozens of regional vendors gather to sell food, arts, and crafts, so if you're going to be visiting this area around the beginning of May, be sure to stop by for a taste of apple country.
Ellijay is also considered the Mountain Biking Capital of Georgia because of its many miles of trails, some of which are considered the best in the southeast.
