Mully's Nachoochee Grill is a most for any trip! If you're looking for a good steak and drinks, try Cowboys and Angels. Troll Tavern is family friendly and on the river. The cheese fries are insane!!

The cabin is very close to downtown Helen and we went on day trips to most of the surrounding areas. Anna Ruby falls is a short hike and very pretty. We also enjoyed the Cabbage Patch Babyland in Cleveland. Also got some gold pieces panning for gold at Gold n Gem Grubbin near Cleveland. That was fun! Enjoyed the German food in Helen!

The town of Helen was very cool and only a 15 minute drive from the cabin. Be sure to take advantage of all of the outdoor activities that this area has to offer such as hiking, horseback riding, and ziplining or visit one of the many historical sites and state parks. Also, be sure to eat locally - nothing is better than quality local food.

The cabins were in much closer proximity than pictures illustrated. The drive way was difficult to navigate and located on a blind curve. Cabins near by were undergoing some sort of construction so it was noisy.

The weather was bad this weekend, so I didn't get to get out in the town. But next time hopefully the weather is better.

We were about 50 minutes from Mountain City, GA home of the Firefox Museum. Actually did not realize this until the day before our arrival. The Foxfire project is of interest to us because it was started as a project to document skills, crafts, traditions, legends and lore of our ancestors. All things that are being forgotten because of technological advancements. By stumbling on this info we were able to add one more jewel to what was a wonderful weekend.

The location is perfect! Secluded but close to town. We loved the solidarity of the property and the fact that it had level parking and both the Jacuzzi tub and the hot tub were amazing...

Newcomers should be aware that the area is "seasonal." We stayed the last week of March and most of the stores were closed along with the parks close early. A park ranger told us that typically Memorial Day is when the area really "kicks off."

High Shoals Falls in Hiawassee is worth the half hour trip. It's.a 2 mile hike to 2 waterfalls. Anna Ruby Falls is also beautiful, with a shorter, paved hike. We enjoyed Habersham Winery in Sautee and Hightower Creek Vineyard in Hiawassee, too!

Pies and Pints has the best pizza in town. The Nacochee Grill's desserts are to die for and make sure to stop by Hoeffer's Bakery on your way out of town, or stop for lunch! There's a glass blowing shop in downtown Helen that has lots of great gifts. They do a demonstration and educational piece. It's great!

Betty's grocery store meat/butcher section is a must if you are cooking at the cabin.
  • Sautee Nacoochee

Helen is fun, but pretty touristy and fake. Most of the restaurants are terrible, and serve BS food straight out of a bag from US Foods. Cowboys and Angels was decent, And Nacoochee Village Pizza place is good. Other than that, most of the food isn't worth eating and we brought our own (which we learned to do on a prior trip)
  • Sautee Nacoochee

There are many falls and state parks within driving distance. Anna Ruby is minutes away. Helen isn't much but a kitschy tourist trap. Avoid that. Also, traffic get's really bad around there between 10:00 am - 2:00 pm during peak season, which is when we went (October).

Pool table was awesome upstairs - and the Master Bath was like you'd see in the movies (wonderful!) Plan an entire day to explore shops in Helen, Including side streets. Don't miss the ice cream shop behind the Fried Cheese place (sorry, can't remember the names) but the ice cream preparation right before your eyes is SO cool AND SO GOOD. The nights we were there were clear skies and the VIEW was fabulous. We laid out in the driveway and saw shooting stars and enjoyed FAMILY time WITHOUT ELECTRONICS and enjoyed being together (7 of us, ages 10-66)
