Where is Marion, MT?

Set just 54 miles southwest of Glacier National Park, Marion is nestled within the embrace of Flathead County. 21 miles west of metro Kalispell and 38 miles southwest of adventurous Whitefish you'll have plenty of places within a short drive to explore.

The surrounding area is filled to the brim with ideal fly fishing spots, deep lakes for lazy days, fresh powder paths for snowmobiling in winter, and trails to explore and marvel at the varying hues of native wildflowers. If you're hoping to spend time on a larger lake, make a journey to quaint Lakeside or the outdoor mecca of Bigfork. No matter what, you'll have no chance of being bored!

Things to Do in Marion, MT

Wake up before sunrise with a hearty meal prepared in the private kitchen in your vacation rental or grab a quick bite before you head out to Glacier National Park. A scenic 54-mile drive north puts you in iconic picture-perfect views, historic hiking trails, and stress-melting rivers. 

Grab a spot on a rock-laden beach and rig up the right flies for a day of fly fishing on the clear, cold-water rivers. Cast in the shadows for native Westslope Cutthroat or a Bull Trout. If you're looking for deep lake fishing, stake out a spot on Flathead Lake to land a trophy Lake Trout or Gerrard Rainbow. 

Take a drive to Mission Mountain Winery to experience a wide range of decadent flavors. From a slightly sweet Riesling to their award-winning Cabernet/Merlot Blend, Monster Red, you'll find a wine to enjoy that is slowly putting Montana on the map for exquisite wine. Make sure to grab a sweet bottle of Nouveaux Riche to take back to your alpine escape for the perfect accompaniment for a star-filled night!

Day Trips From Marion, MT

During the winter months, the easy 50-mile drive to Blacktail Mountain gives skiers and snowboarders the chance to shred pristine powder while taking in stunning views. Enroll the kids in Ski School while you push your limits on a backcountry course. 

Take a short drive east to the closest big city, Kalispell, where you can explore the historic downtown, visit breweries and wineries, or enjoy outdoor activities like a cycle tour, hiking, watersports, and more. When the weather isn't cooperating, why not explore the Hockaday Museum of Art or bounce between boutiques? No matter the season, there's always something to do in Kalispell!

Just a little farther is the vast expanse of Glacier National Park. The small community of West Glacier is the entrance to the park, where you can find food, golf on the seasonal course, and get a good night's sleep before starting your adventure in the wilderness.
