The Beach Access by the property was washed out, so we went 5 min up the road to Hug Point, which was nice.

The grill, wood and axe were awesome! We made a fire every night in the fire place.
Flashlights were there so we could walk on the beach at night!
We loved the huge dining table and large coffee table.
The tile floors were amazing and easy to clean.
There were eight of us and two dogs and we were extremely comfortable and felt right at home!

The view is incredible! This location isn't too far from Cannon Beach. The beach access is a little tricky but we enjoyed sitting outside and watching the ocean.

Hug Point & Arcadia Park very close by. Cannon Beach, Seaside, Astoria and Rockaway are very close too. The Picnic Basket in Cannon Beach had the best coffee on the whole trip with Scheiterts in Rockaway a close 2nd.

Visited the Aquarium in Seaside. Didn't want to go, my response, "you've been to one aquarium, you've seen em' all. Not true in this case! The fee to get in is nominal but what we learned was invaluable!
You have to order Pizza from the pizza joint in Manzanita. They only do takeout because they can't seem to keep employees for service inside. Their pizza is great!

The location of Bears Head is phenomenal! Quiet and serene and still close to Cannon Beach and Manzanita for shopping and food!

The beach right outside the house (obviously!) and Oswald West State Park - it is just a few minutes away and the easy short hike down to the beach there is great even with little children.

Manzanita is the best! Great coffee shop and bookstore. We loved exploring the caves at Hug Point and great skimboarding spot.
  • Arch Cape

    Julie W.

Hug point at low tide is a must for exploring caves and tide pools. And after a day on Cannon Beach with the kids, Tom's for fish and chips and Schwieterts for ice cream.
  • Arch Cape

    Sherry R.

Loved being able to use it as home base for trips to Cannon Beach and Tillamook and areas in between. It was quiet and secluded if that is what someone is looking for. The three stars for location/safety/convenience are for the fact that a warning should probably be given that there is a high drop-off at the edge of the lawn. This should be a caution to people with young children or even dogs that might attempt to go over. The roads down to the property had some pretty big, deep potholes.
  • Arch Cape

    John J.

We just loved the location. We rent quite a bit on the Oregon coast and this was by far our favorite location as far as view, beach, location between surrounding towns, river was a plus.
  • Arch Cape

    Vedal H.

About 10 miles up the road is cannon beach and Toms Fish and chips as well as Fultanos pizza were simply amazing.
  • Arch Cape

    Nhan T.

Secluded beaches, easy access, but coastline is short here (wet sand). Community has no markets, but Cannon Beach and Manzanita were a short drive away.
  • Arch Cape

    Kristy O.

Nice that the beach was just a 2 minute walk away.
  • Arch Cape

Bears Head is in the middle of an old growth forest with stunning trees and moss and cliffs. Arch cape and its surroundings are the most spectacular on the Oregon coast.
  • Arch Cape

    Kim W.

As this property sits on the east side of 101, there is a very short neighborhood walk across the street to the beach which was a nice option to have when we were not visiting the neighboring areas of Manzanita to the south and Cannon Beach to the north. Both small towns were less than 10 miles in either direction and provided shopping, dining and site seeing opportunities that the family loved. We had more than enough options of things to do while we were visiting in the area.
  • Arch Cape

    John G.

We had a wonderful time at the Oswald State Park - a variety of winding old growth trails lead to a spectacular cove inhabited by perfect breaks and a slew of Oregon surf riders.

Yes by all means walk the beach line heading north to the stone structures in the archways and the caves that are up about a mile and a half the experience being they're looking up at the granite hillside with those arches over your head is really an experience making you feel as though you are a primitive American living on the coast enjoying shelter of a cave

Check the tide tables; high tide leaves little or no beach to walk on, low tide leaves lots of beach.

Really enjoyed the rather new coffee shop and bakery "Sea Level" located in the south part of Cannon Beach (so closer to Arch Cape than businesses in the main part of Cannon Beach).

Hug Point is great with tide pools, caves, a small waterfall and nice beach.
Arch Cape up to Ecola SP have the fun rock formations/tide pools to explore.
Seems the beaches north and south of that area are more just beaches.
Mo's has the great ocean view incl Haystack Rock, with good food at reasonable prices.
  • Arch Cape

The south part of the beach had great tide pools with sea life (beautiful starfish ). Also fire on the beach at night is a treat !
  • Arch Cape

    Celia W.

It's become my favorite spot on the Oregon Coast! The beach is phenomenal. It's like a private beach and there was no wind! We found over 60 intact, sand dollars which just washed up in the low tide. We discovered some caves and tons of tide pools full of small sea creatures at low tide. This was way down the beach to the right. Simply a beautiful area! Will definitely go again!

Pay close attention to tides, at lowest you can see the "arch" from which arch cape gets its name Very secret "harry potter" style place to impress the young and old. Also, hike the trail over suspension bridge that goes into forest? N. and on other side of 101.
Don't skip short Sands beach - surfing mecca.

Cannon Beach is an adorable town with lots of fun shops and great restaurants. The people are very friendly and it seriously looked like something out of a Hallmark movie. Loved it! The beaches are beautiful and we had a great time by Haystack Rock.

  • Arch Cape

The tide pools are better at the south end of arch cape than at Haystack. Ebola Park hikes are awesome. Be aware that this is a very active fireworks area during the 4th of July week.
  • Arch Cape

    Betsy L.

Loved the hiking & views from the trails just south of the house. Favorite shopping @ Sesame + Lilies in Cannon Beach & best coconut scones @ Bald Eagle Coffee House! Left Coast Siesta in Manzanita has great Mexican food & outdoor deck seating.

  • Arch Cape

    Clifford A.

we just enjoyed the roar of the ocean and the peace and quiet from the hustle and bustle grind of every day life. their was easy access to the beach and the planked flooring was not only beautiful and relaxing for us and our dog, but didn't see any need for a yoga mat to walk on. thank you so much for having a simple but gorgeous place to stay that was nice but not so nice that we could not relax and enjoy why we were there in the first place.
  • Arch Cape

    Jeff W.

The beach was incredible, somewhat secluded, great for walking.
  • Arch Cape

    Micheal F.

  • Arch Cape

Great beaches down the street, Hug Point, Short Sands, Cannon Beach (a bit tourist-y but cute), if your style matches this house, you can probably give Seaside a miss...
  • Arch Cape

    Monika B.

Great hiking with our dogs at the nearby State Park.
  • Arch Cape

    Gretchen E.

Hug Point was beautiful. We loved discovering the waterfall and "cave". Cannon Beach is conveniently close.
  • Arch Cape

    Mary S.

The beach was great...not many people. But access was to walk two houses down the road, turn right to a path down a fairly rickety plank walkway with wobbley handrail. Then the final steps to the sand were across a steep river rock field. It was hard not to fall over these rocks.
Tillamook was a bit of a drive but worth it for diversion. The Air museum was loved by the boys and Cheese factory was mobbed, but Tillamook ice cream was decadent.
  • Arch Cape

    Rod K.

The Irish Table Restaurant was a very good experience!

We enjoyed the beach, although it was kind of rocky getting to it. Weather was perfect throughout that week. Enjoyed grilling outdoors, sitting in the chaise lounge chairs in the afternoon and looking at the stars at night. Kitchen was a nice size and we're glad there was a washer and dryer on the premise.
