The independent bookstore is lovely and well-stocked, including art supplies and nice notebooks. The staff at the Wayfarer restaurant were incredibly kind -- I had walked down the beach late afternoon, got hungry so had dinner there looking out at the ocean -- and when I realized it was raining hard and asked about a taxi service (there are none, which makes sense because it's a small area), the server came back and said their shuttle would take me back. Also enjoyed the French Italian restaurant, Newman's at 988 I think. It's a charming older house, not huge, and has a second floor accessible by stairs in the back.... felt like I'd discovered a secret! Delightful place. The service at Lazy Susan's was great, too -- and my salad had an edible flower on top!

Lazy Susanne's for breakfast, Monk's coffee, Hug Point. I could go on and on... pretty much just go anywhere in this area and you'll quickly find a place you'll love.

Mo's and Pig N' Pancake are always favorites of ours. Mo's is right up the same street we're on a couple miles and Pig N' Pancake are within walking distance (even in the rain).

The CONVENIENT access to Cannon Beach from this property is as good as it gets short of being directly on the beach. The proximity to Haystack and to Ecola National Park is also a big plus.

The beach was a short walk across the street and 2 blocks to a great section near Haystack rock. My favorite store that my mom and I enjoyed shopping at was West of the Moon.

The Local Scoop was a great place to eat clam chowder at. Tested all the chowder at places like Pelican Brewery and Dundee's (Seaside). Non-chowder related spots to visit include Ecola State Park, but bring legit hiking shoes if it's been raining.

The beach is stunning and compared to the east coast, almost always wide open and free of crowds even in July! My east coast friends were so jealous to see the pictures of my family playing on a nearly empty beach! Bring or rent a wet suit for swimming as the water is cold, but so much fun to swim in. You won't want to miss out. Cleanline Surf Shop in Cannon Beach will rent both wetsuits and gear (surf boards, boogie boards, etc).

My fiancé and I were craving some good seafood so I looked up on google some good seafood places to eat in cannon beach and the Driftwood restaurant and lounge came up first. I honestly was looking for some steamer clams because I love them and haven't had them in forever so we went to the Driftwood restaurant and they had good everything! Amazing chowder, delicious steamer clams, fish and chips, Dungeness crab lasagna, and so much more. They have a beautiful fire pit in the front of the restaurant with the tantalizing flames welcoming you :) the only thing is that it is a little spendy, however, totally worth the money.

For those traveling with dogs, there is a great little park at the end of the block perfect for walks and potty time. It is a city park, and doggie bags were provided along with a picnic table. However, there is a cranky, mean lady on the way to the park that was not too pleased with me for simply walking by her house on the street with a dog. (I wouldn't be surprised based on the way she treated me and my kids that others have probably left doggie surprises for her).

The beach! The distillery was a must stop and taste. We had a nice lunch and great service at the Driftwood Inn, as well as the Wayfarer, and the Sleepy Monk does indeed have yummy pastries and coffee! We were pleasantly surprised to find Cannon Beach in general is dog friendly. Driftwood Inn invited our dog to sit on the deck with us, The Wayfarer gave us a grassy knoll next to the outdoor seating, and stores and the accommodation both made us feel like our dog was not only allowed, but welcome!

The barbecue grill! We had the best dinner outside , a nice treat! The cabin is cozy, quiet, well appointed with cooking utensils etc, fireplace, cable, wifi, and a comfy bed with plenty of pillows and blankets, two blocks from the ocean, and several very walkable blocks to town! We took a long drive south on HWY 101 to some fabulous vistas and several quaint and entertaining ocean side fishing towns. On the way back we choose the drive North along the coast and the entire drive was eye candy!
Cannon Beach is a very sweet tourist town with art gallery's, great restaurants, an affordable yoga studio, a book store etc...look up Cannon Beach on line, it's just as precious close up!
Enjoy your stay, we'll be back!

We loved every aspect of our stay. We beach combed early mornings and visited downtown shops and restaurants. The drive to Astoria was quick and the history there is worth taking in. I reccommend Safeway in Seaside for cheaper groceries but we did use the market in Cannon Beach for anfew items. A fire with smores on the beach is a lovely way to end the day. Our house was clean and provided for all our needs.

The Creperie--excellent food and service. The Kite Store (only sells Kites and not to be mistaken for the many tourist shops selling peewee kites). I flew a great forty dollar kite three days in a row--and it's also a good way to shoo off birds who are interested in your food. Also--building a fire on the beach and enjoying the darkened beach. Get the split logs and kindling and extended lighted for about 13.00 at the Family Market on Hemlock, and don't forget a bit of cardboard or thick paper to use when starting the fire.
  • Cannon Beach

I'm a southern Oregon coast girl and have always shied away from Cannon Beach from its touristy reputation, but, like Sunriver and other destinations, the tourist aspect is part of its charm. We loved sharing our time with other people who were equally thrilled to be enjoying the beach, amazing parks, and coastal happenings. We were able to bike up to Ecola (strenuous), watch the yearly sandcastle competition, explore tide pools, and enjoy some fun food stops.

Downtown is absolutely charming and exceptionally clean. The beach is spectacular. Taking a walk in the immediate neighbourhood of the cottage reveals more charming homes with whimsical gardens, absolutely adorable. I have to honestly say, there wasn't anything I didn't like, but loved just about everything. Shopping, albeit not cheap was fantastic as the stores where privately owned. How wonderful not to see a MacDonalds, Walmart, etc.

In pictures it had a picnic table and did not see one although it was not listed in the amenities. dishwasher was not connected to the under cabinet and would slide out when you opened the door. No washing powder for the dishwasher, had to go ask the owner in the front house. No scrubbing equipment when we baked a chicken would have been nice to not have to soak all the pots and pans for a night. Instructions for the dvd need to be included in the welcome package. All kitchen and appliances were spotless. Some dishes chipped from previous tenants and plenty of cookware. Ample parking and extra touches of extra bags for animal walks. ( the owners have two adorable labs Georgie and Charlie, they are sisters and very friendly) Beach access close and the Mariners Market has a few organic selections of meat and veggies. Best Bakery is Cannon Beach bakery. Best to purchase all organic food before you go. There is an organic market about 40mi south and did not see if there was one in Seaside. Fantastic level area to ride bikes around neighborhoods. Coffee shop and morning walks of interest only 5 blocks away. Town laid out on easy grid to follow all president's names of streets. Enthusiast cooking school about three blocks away, then typical tourist stores with nick-nacks. Plenty of town parking and public bathroom close with Chamber of commerce in central town. We will book it again.

We always enjoyed the Sleepy Monk for coffee but this time, we enjoyed the coffee shop kitty corner with the gallery attached. The coffee was Starbucks and really good. The pastries/muffins were very fresh. We also enjoyed the log cabin restaurant on the main street. We've eaten there twice and it's great. Our main focus this time though was our clamming endeavor. It didn't go off too smoothly but we had a ton of fun. Totally recommend both the cottage and the experience.

A hike in the Ecola State Forest area is a must. The beach is incredible during the stormy weather we experienced while visiting.

I was without a car for part of my time, and used the Shuttle Bus to get into town - very convenient!

There are some wonderful beach spots south of the home that are much quieter than Haystack.

Ecola State park was great. We took the 4.5 mile hike and it was just beutiful.

Our cottage was within walking distance (about 4 short blocks) of Sleeping Monk Coffee (organic coffee roasters) - wonderful spot, great ambiance, and amazing pastries. Five nights a week, it morphs into a high-quality restaurant, The Irish Table. Well worth checking out!

I've been coming to Cannon Beach for decades and love it. Mo's Seafood Restaurant is always a must and there are so many great restaurants and pubs in the village. You can't go wrong.

We love Cannon Beach to shop and eat wonderful food at. We always enjoy Mo's for Clam Chowder and Morris's log house for breakfast, but especially the Bakery for Haystack bread and maple bars.
Walking on the beach and watching the beautiful sunsets are what it's all about.

The Waves of Grain Bakery is closed so that was a disappointment. We really do like staying in the south of town though " Tolavana" area, much more quiet, and we liked having the Pub and Mo's so close.
