We have visited the area before and recommend the Coos Bay golf courses and Bandon Dunes. The view point out Cape Arago Hwy to watch the seals. Mostly visiting our family there and playing games.

A great location to visit the surrounding areas. It is close to everywhere. We especially enjoyed the many different kinds of fishing available, the casinos and some good eats. We highly recommend The Blue Heron. The German food is the best you will find anywhere. Captains Choice offers a varied menu of very good food as well. The staff in the bait and tackle shops are very helpful with bait and places to experience the best fishing and things to be careful of on the water.

This house is just outside of Charleston and 15 minutes outside of coos bay. Charleston is an awesome small seaport town with a great marine museum where kids can touch the starfish, sea slugs etc. We crabbed off the docks, the best place on the west coast to view large congregations of sea lions, ride pools, etc. Also check out the dunes up north and Winchester. Fabulous area to explore.

Everything is conveniently located near the house, which was nice. One of our favorite spots was Shore Acres State Park, which is only a short drive away. Highly recommend stopping there, as it is just beautiful. Charleston is a great little town to visit if you want seafood and are looking for souvenirs. Miller's at the Cove was a great stop - good food.

Take the Cape Arago HWY all the way to the end. Stop at every look out spot, take lots of pictures, go to Shore Acres. Stop at Charleston Harbor, for fresh sea food on your way home. Short drive down 101 to Bandon, to Beach Loop Drive once again stop and take lots of pictures. Go for a horse back ride on the beach! Take in the Zoo.

Too many places to list. Hall lake, Facerock beach, Neseka camping, Gold and Silver falls, just to name a few.

The water access on the property was too scary for kids to go down and back up and you couldn't really hang out down there so we went looking for a beach to hang out at and ended up at Sunset in Coos bay. It was about a 25 minute drive though. Nice spot though. I also love the boardwalk in Historic Bandon. Great food and shops and cool wooden sculptures. We also made the drive to the Wildlife Safari (an hour and 45 minutes) but if we were to do it over again we would have stayed closer and gone to the West coast game safari in Bandon.

I would have to say Shore Acres Park , in Charleston, Table Rock, Face Rock, in Bandon, where we looked for a home to purchase (which was not as advertised but we still had a wonderful trip).

Bandon was worth while. We enjoyed walking around. The many outdoor sculptures were interesting.
The Big Wheel souvenir shop had many fascinating sculptures by local artists.

We enjoyed a meal at the Wheelhouse. The homemade salad dressings were especially good.

We didn't do much of anything in Coos Bay, mostly due to the inclement weather.

Golden and Silver Falls natural area was well worth the drive, and the extra hike in from where the road is closed. Just be wary that the lower Golden Falls trail can be muddy. Total distance if you do all three trails (plus the hike from the car) is about 5 miles. If you're not able to hike far, head over to Cape Arago State Park, where there are short paved paths which lead to some stunning views only a couple minutes walk from the parking lot, including a cove full of seal pups. The pavement keeps the paths from getting muddy, but they are still steep and a bit slippery in the rain.
